Guy with the grey jacket and glasses was my favorite, he was the most realistic about his answers, plus it was very wholesome when he said chubby girls were nice and comfortable lol
Mandarin Corner consistently has the most useful and interesting content for intermediate learners. None of those dull, phony textbook conversations that nobody really says, just real people giving their opinions on topics of interest using their own unscripted words.

My sentiments exactly!!! ‘I want good looking and nice body,” do you actually look in the mirror first, what if those beautiful girls said “i want handsome, and tall”, how would you feel!
@@seokjinkimchiee2676 true as well, the best don’t be picky, be like the other guy, he said as long as can get along, looks doesn’t matter. I don’t go for look at all, looks is not important to me. A kind and loving heart is much better than a handsome face, handsome and beautiful face doesn’t last….😃
Hands down best channel to learn chinese. The repetition of the questions, the connecting overall topic, hearing real life conversations, the length of them, it helps just so much. Even TV shows won't help that much.
😂 You got to love the boys that just care if she's a girl...can't blame them for that now days! Nothing wrong with having high standards when finding a partner but a couple of those guys are looking for "Miss She does not exist!" Good luck fellas! This was a fun video..Thank you!

@@rjkore5229 it’s because he’s lying. He’s using that to get more options. He’s already attractive, so he’s probably already lucky. It makes him look even more attractive by stating he has no preference. This as a result broadens the spectrum of women he can choose from.
I'm married to the most beautiful Chinese man and he tells me how even though he thinks I'm so beautiful, it is my heart that he fell in love with and that looks were just a plus, so for him he feels he is the most lucky man, but I think I'm the most lucky woman! I will say it made me travel all the way from New York to China just to be with him! Great choice we are now married 2 years and thousands more to go!
Your story sounds similar to another American girl who was interviewed in 'asian boss' channel video what it's like dating a Chinese for Americans Wait aren't you the same girl
@@aniime6463 so funny I never saw that video, but that is not me! I looked at the video you mentioned it is funny she mentioned New York and length of marriage but she and I are different people!
In a sense, that's not always a good thing. As we all know, the political correctness of the Western left has become more and more the object of ridicule in China, but this has also brought some side effects: many young people in China, at least on the Internet, no longer care about any speech rules. All kinds of completely politically incorrect content, including blatant discrimination and offensive remarks, are bluntly said.
@@allio3459 that’s not true at all!!! Asians actually have less muscles than other races in nature, so it’s easier to put on weight!!! But the culture of preference on extreme thinness acts as a motivation to “force” people to stay very slim. Strangers will judge you in streets if you’re big, you’ll get bullied to death at school if you’re chubby including teachers! Also at home by parents and relatives…..and by big I mean bigger than uk 12 (us 8) even uk 10 is regards on the chubby side 🤷🏻♀️
@@sindyfashionnerd5874 I don’t think that’s true. Anyone can get muscles. I think it’s just the diet in general. I’ve seen muscular asians before. It’s not uncommon
I definitely feel a lot more comfortable around Chinese guys as they are really so kind and very sweet and respectful towards me! I really love this!! And such gentlemen too!🥺🥰
You’re very good at engaging people in a conversation and digging into their feelings and perspective. Most of the respondents are open minded and seasoned with social norms and self awareness. Pretty sure if they represent a cross section of the community, it is a rational and stable society.
I have been working through this one video a piece at at a time at 25% speed, and I feel I have really gotten to know the interviewees, typical Chinese guys’ attitudes (for example, extreme double standards as regards smoking). I particularly love the couple who are always teasing each other. Very endearing. I can just imagine them doing the same thing 50 years from now! I also note the skill of the interviewer in drawing out the true feelings of the boys, and lastly I have a sense of how she herself feels, in terms of some traditional attitudes. I highly recommend this method. It is also very helpful for learning the commonly used vocab and collocations, especially in conjunction with Pleco. Another valuable skill it helps with is listening to the various accents and styles of speech (in particular, how fast and how clearly or unclearly different people speak, and also regional variations in accent). When you learn Chinese, it’s NOT just a matter of acquiring the language. There is a whole culture, a whole set of attitudes, without which knowing the language is pretty meaningless. You may like that culture or dislike it, but you need to know it for language to be of any practical use to you. This is by far my favorite Chinese learning site on the Internet, hands-down! Thank you!
On the other hand, Chinese society expects men to buy a house before getting married So a little double standard with regards to smoking is more than warranted
The gentleman at 4:09, mentioned something important, and interesting. “Finding a girlfriend and finding a wife is two different things ” The couple and the 3 guys have such a great humour😂😂....not a good idea eating while watching; food going in the wrong place while laughing.
My favourite was the golden trio😭🤣... They: As long as she is rich the appearance doesn't matter. Reporter: Personality or appearance? They: Appearance. Reporter: Wasn't it money? They: What money. They forget that they only like rich woman😭🥲🤣...this means that ideal type doesn't exist always, you never know when you gonna fall for someone.
Eileen does a street interview to find out what kind of girls do Chinese guys like - especially regarding the following: 1. What kind of girls do you like, regarding appearance? 2. Will you be okay with a girl who is taller than you? 3. Regarding personality, what kind of girls do you like? 4. Will you be okay with a girl that smokes? 5. Do you prefer girls that are older or younger than you? 6. Will you be okay with dating a divorced woman? 7. What kind of girls are the most unacceptable for you? 8. Is marriage your dating goal? 9. Regarding a girl’s education and financial ability, do you have any requirements? 10. Will you be okay if the girl doesn’t want to have babies? 11. What will you do if your parents dislike the girl? 12. Will you be okay with providing a car, a house and money in order to get married? 13. Appearance and inner quality, which is more important? 14. If your girlfriend or wife, and your mother falls into the water at the same time, who will you save?
As a non Asian and from the Caribbean I found this a very insightful interview. Also it was fun to see the reaction and answers to the asked questions. As for men and boys they are similar in their thoughts and behaviour no matter from which countries or cultural backgrounds. This I haved experienced now living in Europe and interactions with people of different cultures has taught me.
funny how people in the comments are mad about other people's standards. truth is love is shallow, we all have standards. that doesn't mean we always end up with such guys. if you asked me, I'd say I love tall, lean guys but I've found a 5'7 chubby guy attractive, when I was younger my crush was 5'4 🙄. there's nothing wrong with wanting to be physically attracted to someone you're dating. most of you guys complaining are just projecting your insecurities and you probably do have unattainable standards too, it's human nature。
Facts. Lol men in China are picky just like women in America. I think it’s more that women are mad that men actually have preference aside from them lol.
@@loopymomy2532 do u date random ppl from the streets? If so then that’s ur personal problem, most ppl date someone they alr know, a friend, a co-worker, a classmate, a neighbor, etc, u gotta know their personality before dating so you’d be dating for PERSONALITY, most ppl don’t just pick attractive ppl from the street and ask them out, they know them before, and they how their behaviors, duh!
The couple was really fun... that guys really enjoys annoying his girlfriend. They seem to have a really fun relationship. This was a really fun video and lesson. Thanks
I learnt a new phase today,😂😂 " As long he/she has money"🤣🤣🤣 But, if only you would have asked the question, " Are you ok with marrying a foreign girl?" It would have been more satisfying 😂❤️
who's gonna tell these men who care so much about appearances that good looks don't determine the relationship's happiness lol im glad there are a few who do not care how their partner looks like, that's maturity
Looks definitely matter. Sex and physical intimacy are important in a relationship and there's nothing wrong with wanting to do these very intimate acts with someone you find physically attractive.

Amazing! Not only was the content of this video interesting, but also extremely helpful to my Chinese language skills! I didn`t know that 仪表堂堂 is only used to describe men!

Just remembered that if my mom and wife both fall in to water, it’s not a problem at all. Even my wife can’t swim, but my mom is a very good swimmer . So wife will be rescued, before I get there.😅
For any other mandarin learning if you slow the speed down u have more time to pause and read the words and characters and put some new connections together
The couple she interviewed seemed to have a very easy going and comfortable relationship. I liked them. edit:- that was before the money question came up!!!
Lol, my thoughts while watching: “That couple picks on each other so much, it must get exhausting & annoying after a while. They probably won’t last long.” Everyone else while watching: “The couple is the cutest! So fun and humorous. They’ll probably get married and continue to joke for the next 70 years.” Just goes to show how many different perspectives and preferences in relationships there are 😆
Just found out your channel and I love this video. I'm currently seeking information related to dating and marriage from Chinese people's perceptions and this one helps me, so thank you! The couple's interactions are cute tho😂
4:59 Currently live in Nanchang and I've met this guy in person, lol! Him and the other guys he was working with once stopped me to hand out a flyer and ended up talking for about an hour.
you are so funny in interviewing them. giving you a like. i like your questions but most men would answer the same on camera and cannot live up to their own standards. i find women on the other hand more generous and forgiving such not caring if the guy is divorced or with kids, have money or no money. then men on the other hand without getting to know the girl will refuse
I'm a PhD student in the U.K. and dated a Chinese woman from Jiangsu for many years. In my experience and opinion, people are becoming more relaxed about marriage in general because of the tough socioeconomic factors (increasing real estate, three child policy, long working hours, increasing tuition fees, and simply the fact raising a child is very expensive). Moreover, I do think the average persons life in China is quite hard and stressful. I have much sympathy to be honest. Finally, I think marriage should be based on love. That's the most important thing. This is an interesting video. Thank you.
I agree with you but in this case I am the taiwanese men and she's brazilian. But we're in the same educational level PhD, to ne this is pretty important since we're both university professors
marriage is never based on love. from the very begining of marriage system in history until now, it's based on property rights. if you love someone, you don't have to marry her/him, you can just live with her/him. but if you want to share property with someone, you must marry her/him.
@@bohu1701 Marriage is perhaps quite different in the west. We shouldn't marry someone if we don't love them… How miserable would life be to wake up in the same bed as someone you hate? It's great if you have property or whatever and fall in love and marry, but I don’t think marriage should be purely based on material possessions. After all, we can easily lose everything just as quick as we gained it. Nonetheless, like I stated above I think people are more relaxed about this stuff now, especially considering the tough current socioeconomic factors in mainland China.
Similar answers to my male cousins , all Asian guys. (almost all members of my family live in Thailand and we are a ethnically Thai-Chinese mixed family) the wifes they have now vary from average skinny to chubby, most of my female cousins also dont have big boobs either except for very very few (and that was mainly ONLY bcs they got pregnant before) . I think what the guys answered isnt realistic for china , the women there usually dont have huge boobs (mostly from A cup to B cup). and especially no natural double eyelids etc (but ofcourse many get surgery done now anywhere around southeast and east asia, mostly nose jobs, boob jobs and double eyelids). The only thing i notice with all people living in east and several countries of southeast asia is the liking to CUTE girls (my female cousins all more or less try to be that way too... ideals etc are obviously different from example the US or Europe). Females often on the other side like cute things. At least thats my observation as a asian (thai-chinese mixed) who visited china a few times before, maybe its different from region to region (so im only speaking for the places i visited). AND ofcourse this isnt the case for all people in china & other countries around the east/southeast asia region, its just what i mostly noticed with specifically China, Taiwan and partly Thailand ,Vietnam, malaysia and singapore (inlcuding also any asians i personally know + my family members)
yea, i don't think you've been in china enough because there's a variety of body types in different regions. there are just as many girls with naturally big chest and double eyelids which can be natural too. like many asians have it, it's just smaller and not as big as a foreigner's double eyelid. but i'm glad you're open minded enough to acknowledge not all of china or east asia is a monolith
After watching a few Mandarin learning videos youtube recommended this video to me :))) But, it was so funny to watch. Thanks to the youtuber's good questions.
Wait I'm crushing over that pretty guy who has glasses and grey jacket on and yeahh has a cutest smileeeee.Aaahhh exactly my type😭😳 Wish he could notice me☹️
I have the highest respect for men who do not impose standards on the attractiveness of the women they wish to be with. They're becoming increasingly rare these days.
Hello Mandarin Corner, can you make a content about how Chinese people think about older woman younger man relationship? Do men prefer younger or older women? Do women prefer younger ror older men? Besides learning chinse6i also want to know other people's perspective. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This is one of the questions asked in the video. And for the women's perspective, here is the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VH7aC2lbg1c.html
If it’s not to much to ask, perhaps you can highlight the matching words on the subtitles. Doesn’t have to be all maybe here and there. I’d think it would help improve learning and memorizing the words.
@@KingOfThePirates101 I think it would be kinda hard to find specifically queer men to interview in China, since it's a very private topic and you wouldn't just go around asking random guys "hey do you like other men?". It would be interesting to do maybe a Q&A about LGBT in China though.
One time I facetimed a Chinese guy and I heard his friend say in the background, “is she rich?” “Is her family rich?” And that’s when I realized how much they love money. It’s honestly disgusting. I get everyone wants to progress and have money but when you place a persons worth before that, that’s nasty.
