@@blizzrdddd_7798 The most funniest when you drop kick a enemy human npc from its behind on the roof then it will t pose for a second until the effect comes and ragdolls away.
I remember this one time when I used to have internet, this guy joined my game and just started dropping OP weapons, cash and a bunch of crafting components everywhere! That was only a couple weeks after I started the game too, so I was pretty damn happy! LOL 😂
I always run like a child when the radio automatically on and some operator said "it's almost night, do not try to be a hero find a shelter and wait for the morning. Good night & good luck!". And night coming with the sound of volatiles screams. I never find this atmosphere in every zombie games so far.
@@tfyk5623 yea i used to prefer the first person, but something is changed over time for me, for example i was really disappointed that cyberpunk wasnt third person like witcher was. Sure it had lots of other problems, butstill that was like the biggesst deal breaker for me. its weird how preferences change.. I also recently switched from life long invert X axis person to regular vertical camerra movement, after literally 20 years of only being able to play a game with inverting the X axis.. lol And it just fucking happened like over night. Dont know why im telling you this sorry
Yeah I know right! Killing floor has it too but I don't really like it but somehow the rarity and that slowmo effect with the audio just pair it up real well in DL
You're not kidding. I personally think it's "ok", even a bit boring for the most part. Not bashing it, just my opinion...I literally uninstalled it after 12 hours of quests, side quests, all safe houses unlocked and loot farming.....then thought about it and installed it like "well, let's just see what happens next" then I got hit with the School Mission. I plan on completing the game now.
@@gotplague i can assure you most of the player base for dying light 1 had the same reaction XD. In my case i still remember it was 3 AM in the morning and when that scene appeared i was so terrified i literally pressed the PS home button and stayed on home screen for atleast 20 minutes XD
Such an underrated game. It’s been getting loads of recognition recently and I couldn’t be happier. I played it at launch but for those of you who picked it up during quarantine or another time, I’m glad you got to experience it.
First: How is it "underrated" ? People sure love to throw that word around a lot these days. Millions upon Millions of people love this game, GLOBALLY, how is it "underrated"? 2nd: It's getting "loads" of recognition recently because, gee, they introduced part 2 and now part 1 is on sale all over the place. So people like me, which at first thought it was a mediocre looking game, ended up buying it, and now realizing....it really is a mediocre game that involves running around a bland map for hours on end, running errands while everybody else in your hub stands around, and complains, like "we need to start helping out around here." or "Hey, good job out there while I sit here and throw temper tantrums." I've dumped 12 hours into this game, finished... I dunno, 7 missions, 3 side missions, all safe houses unlocked, loot farming runs, and I truly believe that this game isn't going to get too much better at this point.
Bought it randomly a few months back and started co-oping with a friend who I often game with. We have now pre-ordered DL2 and he is mad I said I wanted to play through it solo alone first... You could say Dying Light made a small impression on me about these devs, and the general care of the game xD
Bombers are the scariest fucking thing in the game, volatiles or others don't even compare. You think you're safe and you start picking a lock, but suddenly you hear the bomber groaning behind you, about to blow up. Panic ensues
Anyone else remember the first time you were playing Dying Light and you were trying to get away and climbing up a roof and that rush of "GET YOUR FEET UP ALREADY!!" panic sets in? That was what sealed this game for me.
One of my all-time favourite! Just did a second run-through, and it really stands the test of time, and is way better than many newer and bigger titles...
Sometimes I would try and test my skills and make sure I was far away from a safe house and waited until it was almost dark before I started running back. That's intense
While playing this , I would get stoned and find myself really far from a safe house at night and try and see if I can make it back . It was terrifying
Oh man I bought this game a few days ago and I’m absolutely hooked on it. But I’m that kind of person who absolutely shits themselves at night and tries to avoid it as often as possible lmao
You know, it's crazy to think that this game came out in 2015 and still plays as a better game than Cyberpunk. Compared to each other, this game is objectively better.
@@SAMSARALIVEEEEEE There were bugs but no game breaking ones mostly just the Bethesda type of bugs where enemies would sometimes T Pose and your character taking infinite fall dmg when collision messes up.
@@DragonReaver Did it have zombies running backwards? Still think some of those bugs were both for extra publicity and to screw with the cacked versions of the game.
@@alfreddominguezlll5417 theres a duplication glitch for pc but not for weapons you can literally get like 99 of those packs that you bring to the quartermaster
My favorite thing by far for Dying Light was really just the immense attention to detail. You could enter at least a 1/4 of all the buildings you saw and there was actually stuff you could loot and scavenge for in them. I wasn't big on the whole crafting thing myself, but the fact that I can run out into any group of buildings and probably enter it was just a huge plus for me. That and all the hidden environments like the closed shopfronts that you could open to loot it really just combined for a truly immersive game world that I still appreciate to this day.
Same. I put the disk back in the case and didn’t pick it up until a few months later. And once I came back for the second time I didn’t put it down for over 2 years
Bro same here😂😂 I’ve literally never played a horror game or horror sub genre. So the night missions were SCARRY. Not nearly as scary with the grapple but it’s still pretty intense sometimes.
I’m over the top excited for this! There’s so much nostalgia in this video! Thanks for reminding me of the feeling of climbing towers with sounds of zombies slowly fading and being only accompanied by the gusts of wind! If anything you’re underselling Dying Light! It’s one of the most user focused games in history and I’m sure the sequel will be just as amazing!!! Thanks for the video 👍
Yes... Voice acting is ok but the story... Facial expressions... Meh it's really bad, but despite all of that I enjoyed that game, I have 163 hours so I know what I'm talking about :)
Idk i disagree tbh i love the game with all my heart, top 3 of all time easily, but the voice acting was shitty a lot of the times, with like no emotion and the story seemed random at times and predictable at others, also with a horrible ending imo. the following is different tho, they def improved on story and whatnot,, but i agree with you 100% no games have ever been as enticing as dying light was for me and literally just running around on roof tops in old town killing zombies gave me the time of my life, 10/10 gameplay
@@7rost well for dying light its actually pretty solid, not really much you can do in the game once you finish it besides grind and do the fetching/escort quests
@@dhillxn.11 I'm happy you liked it. Just accept some people has different tastes than you. And i didn't hate the game 🤦, the game imo was okay but not more than that.
@@MightBeSmart Be an a-hole is not an opinion, though. You could've made that comment without shitting on console players. I am a PC player, by the way. Your comment is the only pathetic thing here.
It's a game where you can feel that it was made with love from everyone involved. The quality of the game is just amazing. Everything from the gameplay to the soundtracks, to main story and the environment you play in. Truly a game like no other.
One thing that DL2 should've not do is to add a healthbar. In DL, the hud elements aren't bothering you a lot, keeping you very immersed in the game. Having floating healthbars not only cuts that immersion easily, but it also cuts a big scary stuff: not knowing just how tough an opponent was. You had either to trust your guts or to learn the hard way how strong the zombies (or humans) were, and adding direct info on them like that is... erf, in my opinion.
Don't forget that they worked with David Belle, the father of parkour, to get the parkour experience as close to reality as they could, and now of course they did the same for the sequel and there's a character model based on him, which is pretty cool, so they really put a lot of effort and love in this concept! truly a hidden gem
@@djay5818 i have to agree with these games. But evergreens for me are on a older generation with games like Half Life 1-2, Metal Gear Solid 1-4, Bioshock 1-3, God of War 1-3, and of course the great Deus Ex
I'm playing through the first Dying Light right now after it was given away for free on Epic Games Store. I wasn't really expecting much and installed it on a whim, but I sure am glad I did. It ticks all the right boxes that make for a fun video game. The story is pretty campy but it actually works as it leans into it well and lets the gameplay be the main driver. It hearkens back to some of those second wave zombie movies like the Dawn of the Dead remake and 28 Days Later: the intensity of the horror of being in a zombie apocalypse. The exact details of the story may not be that memorable, but I bet you'll never forget that opening scene of Dawn of the Dead.
I should have received Dying Light for free being the biggest loser on the DayZ cashgrab spinoff Vigor just because Epic Games appears on Bohemia's loading screen. But at a mere $10 on sale for the Definitive Edition with 4 DLCs and all 22 add-ons, at least I'll have one less thing to gripe about 🖖
I remember playing this with my brother years ago, we just started another play through. The thing I love the most is how you aren't forced to always fight zombies unless it's actually necessary because of the parkour and movement. Really nice game and awesome video!
@@darkblade51224 It's actually crazy, I've played the game for over 4-5 years now and still haven't finished the following, I'm in no rush though now that I know the development of DL2 is a mess right now.
I litterally play this game for about 10 times now And Im hooked to play it again but in nightmare difficulty I wanna see how hard the story mode in nightmare difficult plus with the following also the zombie are made out sponge....
Oh man this game was sooo dope. Parkour was amazing. Weapons felt impactful. Loved getting “ magic”weapons through crafting mechanics. Flaming sword for the win. They added grappling. Which was so good. Judo throws were the best. Setting up enemies to fall into your drop kick or arrow shots... so good. Loved that sound drew them out too
The camera sway and fov change when you are higher up is what makes it feel so real. The uneasy feeling you get from looking down on top of a tall building is purely caused by the genius cinematic effects they added when you're in a high area. The only other time I've ever felt like I could actually fall and die while playing a game is when I was playing super hot for vr. They really killed it with the level of detail they went with this to make it so immersive. Edit: Btw dying light has been my favorite game since I first played it and it still is. I have never had more fun playing a game. Playing dying light with my homies for the first time was such a great experience, and it really makes me hopeful for future video games in general. The fact a fairly unknown company at the time released a masterpiece like this gives me hope that indi isn't dead and that we will still have games made by people who are actually passionate about games in the future.
That first night always terrifies me. It's utterly terrifying... Because up to that point, they lock it in the day, they let you get used to it. Then you go to that area to get the antizin, and as you're watching the cutscene, it grows dark, you get a good look at your first volatile...and then one gets a good look at you, and you find yourself suddenly tossed into a heart thumping run for your life, trying to avoid the volatiles until you can give them the slip, and then you have to sneak back to the tower before they'll cycle back to daytime. Getting back to the tower without dying is nerve racking, you skulk around, try not to use your flashlight, and avoid going anywhere near the volatiles that pop up in your survivor sense.
I mean that mission is so well done and that's how you should let your players know that the training wheels are off now, welcome to *Dying Light* with the lights literally dying around you....
I played countless hours with this, even after finishing the story, until I knew every corner and building, and tried all weapons. I cannot get bored with it. It's perfection. Also, I have never encontered a bug. Ever.
They're still adding content. They just fully tweaked the hellraid mode, adding a new enemy, better lighting, i think new weapons, and a new introductory hellraid story mode. And now that they've made it possible to play in auto hdr and fps boost on series x it feels like a new gen game already. Cant even believe how old it is already.
I played this a ton on my Xbox one a few years back and due to certain situations I don't have that console anymore. I do however own a Switch and love it to pieces for my current living condition and my utter thrill at seeing this game be ported over was through the roof. To get to my point of what you referenced, Techland not only did an incredible job at putting this game on Switch with little loss, but a day or so after release they released a patch and idk man, their dedication and passion is pretty awesome to see.
I have an experience like that too, it was old city, a rainy night and I was on a roof hiding while seeing a horde of volatiles and runners obliterate a group of Rais mens on a closed plaza inside some buildings, one of my favourite gamming memories of all time.
There is no other game, when spotted at night, that makes you feel like "oh sh**! oh sh** oh sh**!" and running like a mad man for dear life, it's truly a unique experience.
Yes. Love this game. So underrated. I remember that first mission when I go out at night and one of those night creatures chased me. It was one of the first times where I felt genuine panic in a game. I didn’t know the map at this stage because it’s early in the game and I was running blindly in a blind panic, just vaulting and climbing anything in my way whilst this night zombie is screeching and grunting behind me. All whilst I didn’t have a clue which direction I needed to go in. One gaming moment I’ll never forget.
I remember playing the demo before buying the game, and was already addicted to just the demo. Every time when night falls, I’d shit my pants trying to run to a safer place, and when I couldn’t, I just hid like a lil bitch
I’m not even a gamer and I highly enjoyed Dying Light and The Following! The graphics quality (climbing the first tower for example) and the pace of the game was a great experience. Looking forward to Dying Light 2!
This game is not underrated, with 20 million downloads, 10-40k players every day. I'm really happy that dying light 2 release date is confirmed and can't wait ;)
Dying light and state of decay probably one of the best zombie games ofcourse both had different feel but it was great one touched more on the horror side the other on the survival side.
Throwing 1,000s of air strikes and fun grenades because of the duping launch glitcing the dune buggy playing the bozak horde with a group of freinds only to find out what happens at the end
I loved the fact that in the beginning you weren't really that strong yet, and you really had to mash a zombie's brain in with a random club or something. Not just hit and punch. That was some powerful sh*t ❤
I’m still playing it 😃 Just started on “The Following”. I love it. I hope DL2 has better stealth aspect though, would be great. And maybe a quick turn button combo.
The Easter egg plants vs zombies and Mario areas were awesome, the game also had hidden weapons like Excalibur to find in the world. I feel doing fetch quests in such a hazardous world took it up a notch adding to the parkour and that's why it was so awesome. The game also didn't rush you to get through the main story and it felt good scrounging for that extra bag of coffee In getting tier weapon from the merchant to do extra damage to zombies.
I remembered beating this game and having such an amazing time playing it. My only gripe was the ending to the dlc. But it didn’t completely ruin the game for me thank god lol
No I remember the first time it was night time the mission where we had to get the supply crate and we were chased by the night zombies that are hella dangerous that was the scariest part for me
My grandfather recently passed and he bought me this game like 3 years ago I just went back to it to finish it for my 4th time amazing game and amazing present from an amazing man rip
At the beginning I was heavily melee but at the end of the game I usually keep one OP melee weapon and then silenced/muffled pistols and rifles. Usually I'll have 1 melee, 1 pistol, 1 rifle, and then rotate a various weapon into the 4th spot depending on the situation or if I want to experiment with some crafting.
Dude, I cant get how people do it,I have weapons that will two-shot a volatile and I still cant bring myself to go out in the night,it is way too scary for me
@@lollil8499 I just stay unnoticed most of the times. And the light traps can only be used at night. Once you start roaming in the night, you would find that the light traps are much more frequent than you thought.
I continue my quests and exploration at night. Just more cautious of what's around me is the only difference I put in at night. Quite thrilling yet equally terrifying
I love this game so so much but I hate when people say it’s underrated. It’s cringe to say that and its not like it has a small playerbase. The playerbase is over 18 million people at this point. That’s definitely not massive, but if DL2 comes out correctly, then it will probably be as popular as Witcher 3
UNDERRATED??? Even now, 5 years after release, this game have 7000+ players online, and this game still have regular events. Do you want to know what is underrated game? It's Dragon's dogma: Dark arisen, Dark messiah of might and magic, Remnant from the ashes, Spec ops: The line. That's just some examples of underrated games. And Dying Light is pretty well recognised
When it comes to dying light among many, many things nothing makes me remember why I love it like following a wooden path on a roof and just jumping, not knowing where it may lead and then landing, it encapsulates my love for this game.
It wasn't the first night that got me scared, I just stealthed it to a safe zone I made nearby. It was the night after when I was nowhere near a known safe zone. I was by the antenna by the bridge, didn't know about the fisherman village because I hadn't been to Rais yet to do his stuff, and then there was the bridge which I was terrified of. Sun was going down, and I felt pure panic. And when night fell, I saw three volatiles and hid in a corner for a few minutes until I got enough courage to fix the antenna to get a safe zone. Fun times
Passion and no signs of greed the dlc was so big that it could have being a full on game if they added a little bit of stuff but no man that DLC was a huge steal.
@@therealmccoy6097 days gone is a great game but dying light is far superior. nevertheless, i spent more than 100 hours on days gone and it was an awesome experience.
i got the first one on Saturday and have been playing it all weekend. i really like how at the start crane doesn't really have any parkour moves but the further you go the better he gets at it almost like hes learning from the city
its all about that gameplay loop the world hands down what made this game "so good" tbh the story was weak and the fucking fetch quests are the reason why i dont play this again for the 4th time. killing shit running around is mindless good fun but mindless also could be said for the story and thats not a good thing. i liked the plot and as a kyle im all for kyle crane but just not how stupid he is lmao. with this said tho the following story was better then the main game so they are getting better.
Just got it and all the DLC for $10. 1440p 60fps on PS5 and it looks and plays so good for a game that came out in 2015. Having a good time so far. I wanted to try out something different. Glad I did.
Yeah, I got it for like 7 bucks on my Switch including Call of Juarez Gunslinger. I didn't realize you should run from most zombie encounters, there was a solid thirty minutes I was treating it like Left4Dead. 🤣
im 14 rn and im hyped for dying light 2 i remember going to my friends house everyday when i was 8 and we would just play the original all day it was the best feeling ever and i still play with the same friend on dying light to this day and its amazing right when it drops we are going to grind it together just crazy to think that when i was still in elementary school my friend and i would think about playing this game all day and now going on to play dying light 2 with the same friend years later
what i would like to see is to know what have happened to the old characters of the first game(Since they will not show up in the DL 2 ), of course techland i think said something about lore but we still dont know how thorough the will be at it XD
I think the scary ness of night depends on your skill. For example when I first started the game night time was really scary now after I’ve played the game for a while even on a new save night time just isn’t as scary as I was but in dying light 2 night time feels like it’s gonna be more difficult and more scary and I’m super excited for it
When you are walking at night and heard Volatiles's scream somewhere, that still gives me a chill even after i already have high levels (Btw in hard and nightmare difficulty, Volatiles and Virals don't appear on map so you can't see where they are).
Yet you can still detect them by using Survior Sense, so during the night you just keep spamming this ability. On Hard those suckers are very difficult to put down, on Nightmare the only resonable option is to run away.
@@mlkvblendzior That's why shotgun is your best friend in both difficulties, it still confuses me why there is no merchant sells ammo in hard mode yet they are available in nightmare mode, which like i said once i leveled up high Crane and acquire shotgun even volatiles aren't that threat anymore, still scary af tho since they could one-two hits KO me if i am not being careful..
@@irvancrocs1753 I prefer crossbow with impact bolts on Nightmare. Here's why - using firearms will attract Virals, and those fuckers are fast, tough, violent and highly numerous. Crossbow still provide a lot of punch without noice and can be used with camoflague.
@@mlkvblendzior Yeah i used crossbow pretty often as well and yup the most useful weapon imo especially when i played on hard mode in my first playthrough where bullets are so scarce, but when it comes to farming volatiles at night in nightmare difficulty is where i love using shotgun so much.. Camping in one site and watching those bastards come one by one then finish them off is so satisfying..
They’ve already fucked off the modern warfare player base the moment Cold War was released which was only 1 year after mw was released. Activision are greedy twats
Me and my brother played it and agreed this was and still is an amassing game, so I'm hoping 2 lives up to our expectations. I think they should expand on the grappling hook, like unlocking a skill so when throwing it at an enemy's leg they fall.
I really can’t wait for this game to be released on the nintendo switch. I used to play this game with my cousin on his playstation. But can’t wait to finish the full game on the switch. Also great vid and lets hope dying light 2 will be even better
Man that first nighttime mission will have you soiling yourself. Such a superb experience and one I’ll never forget. The blind panic, claustrophobia inducing darkness and tight alleyways is such a good recipe.
Nice. If i have one suggestion, it's to play it with a friend. You can play up to 4. Legit it isn't the best game ever but it's definitely a really fun coop game. Tbh play the way you want. Enjoy yourself, that's all. Good night and good luck
The masterful parkor and OST is what sold it for me. I wondered if the parkor was going to be a gimick and useless, but it was PERFECT and essencial. And the OST was so unique and recognizable. It set itself apart from other zombie game OSTs but still FELT like a zombie game OST. Also, the progression of the parkor to the grappling hook was awesome. You mostly master the parkor before getting the grapple and it perfectly meshes with what you've already learned.
that moment when the sun is setting and its not quit night time yet. the lighting in dusk was just heavy in atmosphere. accompany that with synth track and its recipe for good vibes. it reminds me of being in my own birth country in an a slum with not so much light pollution compared to US.
Ok, listen, the sound design is S tier....the sound of the fucking running hybrid zombies bare feet on the concrete behind you is so so real...just amazingly scary
Im literally doing a playthrough right now in 2024 and despite its age of 9 years by now it's a pretty good game. I love how the studio supported it for so long and you really feel that they have put a lot of love into it.
