Moto Morini 175s were very popular in that era and won many over-the-road races. The engine in any Italian bike from that era is almost certainly knackered, unless you have documentation of an actual engine rebuild by one of the rare individuals who knows what they are doing. Almost all roads were dirt, air filters were primitive or non-existent, no real oil filters and those bikes were used hard. Fortunately they were built to very high quality standards with excellent lightweight metallurgy and design by ex-aircraft engineers and people who loved to race. I've done a 1956 Laverda 100 Sport and a 1957 Moto Morini 175 GT. The 175 came through Michael Harper-Smith with a museum-quality exterior restoration and the engine ran but as soon as I started looking around inside I realized it was completely worn out. Finding the right piston was a challenge (thanks, King of Pistons!) and I finally had a machinist friend make valve guides. No complaints here, I love these bikes.
Thank you for sharing. Not sure what exactly it is, but I really like that bike. Just seems "sincere" I guess. Seemed to run really well for it marque and vintage. Thanks again for posting. Truly enjoyed the ride.
I have to fix it. I'm working on it. First youtube didn't recognize my music license, then the visual screen somehow locked up but the audio kept going. I'm working to resolve it now. I'll probably have to upload a corrected version. Thank you for your patience
I dont think so. The perches for the clutch and brake levers are molded into the handlebars, and they seem to be oriented where they need to be. Kinda like a poor man's clip on, methinks
