Honestly to me what makes a good manga cover is an image that sticks with you for a long time. Comic books back in the 90s were THE best at making covers. 1st example would be the comic Crisis on Infinite earths.
Hanako kun has one of the most aesthetic looking manga covers and art I've ever seen. The covers are always bright and colorful and the unique shading technique is very eyecatching.
What makes a good cover for me is the art style and it’s perspective foreshortening. For e.g kishimoto. His art style looks aesthetically pleasing same time simplistic and yet satisfying
I think Hirohiko Araki briefly noted what makes the art cover appealing in his book Manga In Theory and Practice. Anyway, I love Steel Ball Run manga Volume covers. They all have great visual energy due to incredible color combination added on top of pretty art Araki developed.
We’re working on a web comic so we haven’t really thought about making a manga cover, but seeing this video made me excited and we’re gonna try to make one just for the fun of it. Love the content 🙏
Ayee your content is an instant click for me. Working on improving as an artist to aid in Saturday AM’s Growth. Would love to 3-D animate Apple Black ❤️
I’ve only read Apple Black, but I’ll definitely check out Hammer, Ghosts and some of the others. I think it would be cool if you guys made a video giving a quick synopsis about each series.
Great topic! One of the most important parts of a book is a great cover. It is the very first thing that a person sees before opening the book. A good cover makes the book stand out amongst a sea of other books. I notice sometimes that the cover art is done by an entirely different artist other than the one who does the illustrations for the book.
The first volume always gotta give a vibe of the story, but after I love the covers that policy the characters in different clothes or genres, oda does this a lot as well as hirikoshi.
I just stumbled across your page! Im studying how to draw well and i absolutely LOVE your tutorials!! Ill be using a lot of your tips in my work in the future :D
Howdy! My friend wants to get into mixed media comics, do you have any tips on keeping low on prices *budgeting, and working with what you have, being loyal to a brand or trying new things, and how to express yourself using textures and colors and some examples maybe. Ganbare ganbare with your channel, Whyt Manga, and Manga, Apple Black. You have done some amazing work so be confident but keep being humble and try to find ways to improve your visual and written expression :D keep it up!
These are some good tips. I want to feature my main character on Volume 1 with a pose of a tiger about to pounce which relate to his abilities and the overall power system
Thank you Whyt for this video! This is truly a helpful video especially watching your video on making the new Apple Black Volume 1 cover with mixed media. Very inspirational! A video request would be is what do you think about when coming up with symbols for your manga? Do you think about symbolism when creating certain spells for Apple Black?
I have been working on a story that I hope I can make into a manga one day and you have been very helpful! I’m only 12 so I have alot of time to practice :) Thank you for reading and I hope you have a good day
On what stuff do they draw the manga cover? Like on sensei Murata's case, he had drawn the OPM cover on the front, back and middle side of the book so I'm really curious about this.
My reason for not subscribing to SAM, is that it puts a priority on being DIVERSE and LGBT friendly and then the actual stories on the sideline, imo I don't want to read stuff that has that kind of agenda in mind. That's why I read Jump. They are all about the story\artwork. If the stuff on there is good, that will be enough for it to stand out from the rest. Not this "Hey we have a black LGBT character!"
I think it's a byproduct of the current climate but pandering can get annoying and it makes me want to ignore the ads. However, I'm willing to give the stories a chance because if the story is good or l enjoy the characters then everything else is secondary.
@@thirdplanet4471 if you give your time and money to a product doing stuff like that you are telling the business "this pandering worked on me. Keep it up"
As far as the stories are good as they've been so far, I don't mind it. On the other hand, going full agenda mode, than telling stories, that's where I draw the line. In case of apple black, poc's appearing in the story makes sense and the flow is good. I'm OK, if they go recent western comics route, then 😬
@@ovn_tamil I have no problem if any kind of person is in a story if it makes sense or if it isn't distracting. Like a Trans Fairy Godmother in Cinderella
I haven't quite found my exact art style but my story is very long so I want to start now is it alright to have an evolving art style in story? I already know what I want as covers mostly and a lot of character designs done should I have a better artist to them and just start the story or wait and improve my art to the level I feel comfortable and confident enough to go forward with? I'm conflicted
If you feel you are ready then you should go forward with it. If you like the character designs then go with them because this is your vision not anyone else’s
Does anyone reading the comments know of a good video explaining what Saturday am is .I wanted to show someone what it is and how I might be able to join
Whyt you think it’s worth buying a Wacom Cintiq 16 Pro 4K or should I start with something like an XP-Pen 16 Pro? Would it be dumb to start with something so expensive?
Depends on how rich and serious you are...lol it wouldn't be dumb if you use it well but if cautious, you can start with the other. Like any other expense, no need to overthink it IMO. Wacom's are always top in this space tho.
Hello, I am one of your followers, there are a lot of your followers who speak Arabic and want to learn drawing from your experience. Can you add Arabic subtitles to your video? Thank you
