This makes men appear to be "visual" creatures. But if a young women encounters a guy at the upper end of the attractiveness curve her response will be as strong as a man's to an attractive woman, and she will not have much experience controlling herself because it is rare.

I used to be an actor myself. So I can confirm that performing on stage is hugely attractive to women. And I think this is because of the social confirmation it confers. When hundreds of people are looking at you and calling your name, it dramatically increases your attractiveness (see: "People want what other people want"). This has nothing to do with romance. You could play a power ballad or a punk rock anthem, the effect would be the same.

I agree with the above two commenters - it's impossible that phyical attractiveness doesn't play a significant role. Else how would we explain those famous dating app findings (which are almost a 100% physical since there are only pictures and a brief description) where women rated 80% of men as below average? (while men rated women as an almost perfect bell curve).

More women are now getting degrees in what was once traditionally male dominated fields. Men are suffering silently to porn addiction and arousal addiction in epidemic proportions. This might sound like a fairy tale to you, but it's actually how healthy relationships work. There is no bargain or transactions involved in genuine relationships. Granted, it's hard to find genuine people who are not trying to "profit" in a sense, so I can see why you'd feel like it's a fairy tale, but genuine people are out there. If you look at relationships as if it's a bargain, you'll likely attract someone who views relationships in the same way, and while you may get your desired bargain, you'll miss out on a true connection that way. A fairy tale would be something like the popular romantic movies of today, where the woman rejects the man, and he does something nice or brings her flowers, and suddenly she realizes she loves him. This doesn't happen in reality. Actually, that sounds like a transaction, too. THATS the true fairy tale, because life doesn't work that way. Movies and TV shows like that mislead us since childhood, and it teaches us things that don't work that we need to unlearn.

I do not know if you are situated in India, but familial reputation and status are indeed important aspects in said country(for both men and women). Although the man is still expected to be the provider eventually, as far as I am concerned at least.
