@cannedbreaddd
@cannedbreaddd 4 года назад
@@jennistone8740 It has more to do with getting your face (or any skin, for that matter) wet, in general. If you get your skin wet and allow it to dry completely without applying a moisturizer, the water evaporates from your face and what that does is drag pre-existing water from your pores as it dries, so you end up with less water afterwards, which is why moisturizers exist in the first place. It's not usually a worry when it comes to your face, as pretty much every person with a basic skincare routine uses a moisturizer, but it's more of a concern when it comes to the skin on your body, say, after a shower.

@muirgirl
@muirgirl 4 года назад
@@StephanieLeighG Okay. THIS IS A LOT. All I have said here repeatedly is to not fall for marketing. I have said that I AM GLAD that all y'all enjoy these products. Bottom line is that Cerave and Neutrogena BELONG TO THE SAME COMPANY (L'OREAL) so to pretend they are different is HILARIOUS. The use of parabens is quite problematic and why these products are banned in Europe- specifically Germany. A "lack of evidence" of risk DOES NOT MEAN A PRODUCT IS SAFE. Cerave uses questionable marketing as well "CERAMIDES ARE MAGIC" - um, NO, HAH, its chemistry- and the same chemistry that suggests THC for instance can also produce said biochemical ceramidic activity. OOF. I'll include a great secondary source article for you that has a nice rundown of the studies that have accidentally stumbled upon the dangers of parabens. Pharma companies (like the former parent companies and new owners) have actively prevented long term follow up studies on these CHEAP additives like parabens and fragrance in their products. THAT ABSENCE DOES NOT MEAN THEIR PRODUCTS ARE SAFE LONG TERM. I honestly hope you open your eyes to the facts- the most basic one being there is no real difference between Cerave and Neutrogena. We only get one life, one body, and our health should always come before a corporate bottom line. Bless your heart. www.byrdie.com/what-are-parabens

It’s actually pretty helpful when trying out brands without buying them. That being said, most people don’t realize what’s going on and assume that brand is better since their dentist/doctor gave it to them. So I get why it shouldn’t be done
@Leanne_w
@Leanne_w 4 года назад
@sexyangel072, you don’t get samples from the doctors here. I don’t think dentists really give samples either, there sometimes a box of samples On the counter, which you can take. But the dentist doesn’t really offer them or suggest them to you, if that makes sense? (Well at least at mine they don’t)

I worked as a Registered nurse for over 20 years in the NHS (now disabled with spine/hip issues) and we never had samples. Drug reps did visit with info re new medications/treatments. Sometimes they provided lunch or pens (advertising products) or suchlike, but they are not allowed to pressure sell. The NHS buys the cheapest form of the actual drug (rather than brand names) unless it's a patented new med/treatment and only available from one company. In the UK most prescriptions are written with the drug/treatment name rather than brand, unless there is a speciffic reason eg texture, format or allergy to a specific filler ingredient. This is more prevalent in dermatology where texture can matter more. Sometimes the most cost effective product can have compliance issues and sometimes isn't prescribed for that reason. I appreciate it is much different in other countries, where financial incentives are allowed/tolerated. Condoms are given out in a family planning setting (in a restricted monthly amount) to encourage safer sex and prevent the financial and human cost of many sexually transmitted diseases, including a projected burden on the NHS - preventative medicine. In Scotland all NHS prescriptions are "free" (paid for by taxes) for everyone who resides here, although it's slightly different in other parts of the UK.

You really painted pharmaceutical representatives in a terrible light without talking about the other side - There are a lot of patients who can't afford 24 different doctors. Who can't afford to pay out of pocket for treatments that may not work. Samples are a way for those patients to try a product without going out of pocket on something that may not work for them. I have never found the pharmaceutical representatives who visited our practice to be bothersome and generally they had a wealth of information that was appreciated and their samples were a God send for patients who couldn't afford the trial and error that often happens in medicine. You also spent some time talking about pharmaceutical representatives being able to see what providers are prescribing - First, that isn't specific to pharmaceutical representatives. It is public information. Second, you may have wanted to mention that the data for what providers receive from pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers is also out there. For the last ten years, a physician has not been able to accept so much as a lunch at Applebee's without it, rightfully, being disclosed. Obviously there are always a few "bad apples" but the days of loose prescription pads and steak dinners are generally a thing of the past.

When I was younger I had acne, not just the ”one pimple here and there” type. I tried some neutrugena products, I belive it was the blackhead orange packaging products. It was so strong it burned my skin, but I thought that that meant that it was doing something for my skin. I Applied the toner... the next Morning when I took a shower the water ran over my face and the product that did not get absorbed into my skin got into my eyes. Holy smokes that hurt like a mother! I jumped out of the shower wailing. Since that day over ten years ago, No more Neutrogena. A couple of years ago I saw the product in my grocery store, so I smelled it. Holy noseburn. It was still so alcohol filled. I could not belive that I once put that crap on my face. I was a teen with alot of acne and I desperately tried anything that claimed to work for acne. I hope the teens today have access to better products that actually work with the skin to beautify it. And not products that Will dry out the skin and burn your eyes.

We had reps coming in every day, bringing us teddy bears, pens, notepads, pizza, bagels, donuts, & giving doctors stethoscopes, etc & SAMPLES. What samples, you ask? Oh, well that was a LOT of Purdue pharma brining in the OxyContin samples. We had cases of it, right before the opioid crisis first started, and laws began changing. I personally had like 50 pens with OxyContin stamped on the side, and a little teddy bear in a doctor's coat with OxyContin stamped on his little jacket. I didn't even really know what it was at the time!

The studies conducted by big conglomerates or parent labs aren’t any less accurate, or truthful. There’s a health economics paper published on this out there. They go through the same rigorous testing and morals guidelines, they just simply do not *publish* results that could negatively affect sales. So their science is backed by strict FDA guidelines and is truthful- they just maintain the right to not broadcast negative studies! Hope that clarified some things. Thanks for the video!

WHOA. The tea is hot in this video. When I was going through a lot of cystic acne, I went to get a facial and the esthetician told me to get the Neutrogena naturals line and raved about it. I remembered thinking it might not be the best idea since it's from Neutrogena, but figured it was worth a shot since making better choices on ingredients was becoming trendy. I felt like I was chemically washing my face with the face wash and literally threw it in the trash (something that pains me because I hate wasting money.) I tried the moisturizer for a bit longer because it didn't harm me, but it felt too rich and I think broke me out more. I also chucked that in the trash. Everything makes sense now and I'm disgusted.

I tried to leave a review of a Neutrogena product on their website. I was extremely unimpressed and I made mention of the fact that their product left me with a severe case of dermatitis, and that I was certain it was that product, as it was the only thing I had changed in my skincare routine, diet, lifestyle, or environment in quite some time. Long story short, I was quickly sent an email saying that my -review had been reviewed- and that they would NOT be publishing it on their website. Shocker. They let reviewers leave general, uneducated reviews such as one gem that simply read, “the smell made me sick!” To which the company replied that they would like the poster to contact them, so that they could compensate them for their unpleasant experience. But god forbid someone leave an educated, well written review, stating their certainty about the product being the cause of a negative reaction. No. We can’t have that.
