I'm in the market for a new TV for streaming and gaming when I can get ahold of a console. I have to say, the way you speak is very well done. You don't seem to have any kind of habit like saying uhhh or using a word constantly between thoughts. You speak clearly and pronounce and annunciate words properly. The rate at which you speak is perfect imo. You have a lot of info to cover but you don't ever ramble or get lost on a tangent. Very well done.
I wish they would make more TVs with the pedestal stand and not the stands on the television corner. I do not own an 80 inch or more wide entertainment unit to put a television on, and hanging the TV is not an option for me. I also do not have the space for an entertainment unit that vast; however, I have room for the television's width. I wonder why they make TVs with the stands on the corner these days. Anyone knows?
I actually went from a 65" to 55" and it made realize I don't need anything bigger than 55" for my space. Never thought downgrading would actually be better but I think it really is for my case.
I went from 50¨ to 65¨, making the talking heads bigger than life, which is unnatural. No regrets though, since when watching movies the bigger screen compensates for the size loss due to the black bars. The benefit of a smaller TV is your old SD DVD´s shine, without much need for BluRay or 4K. My old 50¨ had a resolution of only 1280x720, but with my present 65¨ 4K, my DVD collection falls short.
Step 2 is interesting. There is no question about whether I can afford it, it's whether it's worth the extra cost. For me, it just hard to justify spending more than ~$700 on a TV.
Ive done an absurd amount of research to determine exactly which tv i want, and in very short concise videos youre able to guide me to the same choice that it took me forever to determine. As always, well done video
@@dperr338 im probably gonna choose the LG b1, primarily for console gaming but also to watch movies on. Can’t use dolby 4k 120hz on B1 so if you want that, get the C1. (So normal 4k 120hz instead i think) If you are gonna play games, go LG, otherwise, Sony or Samsung is pretty good. But you choose yourself :) Thats what i have understood so far in my search.
@@lowprime I can’t buy one right now but I really like the Vizio Oled or Sony X95j or X90k depending on the price and what has been improved for 2022. I want a wide color gamet. I have a Vizio M series and was looking to upgrade in both quality and size. The Vizio seems to have good detail in dark scenes but lack depth that the Sonys have. They both seem to perform well for Dolby Vision. I mainly watch movies occasionally play xbox one and ps4. Only if a game comes out that I wanna play.
not gonna lie, it's crazy to me that at 6 feet you think a 55 inch is too small. sure 65 is still better, but given peoples range of budgets I think getting a higher quality 55 inch is a totally viable option vs a budget 65.
@@joKerchy I agree; I’m at 9’ viewing distance in my TV room and when I mocked up the 65” and 75” dimensions against the wall, the 75” looked way too big; like I’d have to be scanning side-to-side all the time to see everything… the 65” mock-up was only a few inches narrower but it felt right. Still took up a lot of wall, but it didn’t give the impression that I’d be swaying my head left and right constantly 55” just looked way too small for my wall/viewing distance. It was only a few inches narrower than the 65” but seeing the difference between all 3 really sold me on a 65” (I’ve yet to get anything nearly a year later, but I’m thinking that this is the year 🤞) I’m still fighting myself between the 65” Samsung QN90A and the 65” LG G1… Without side-by-side comparison I’d likely never feel that an OLED is too dim brightness wise in certain settings, but conversely, without a side-by-side comparison I’d likely not notice black crushing or poor dark details in dark scenes or aggressive blooming on a QLED in other situations. I’ve seen people get pretty close to OLED picture quality on their QLED’s with custom picture settings, but that’s still not *~AS~* good, and I’ve seen people try and tweak settings to try and get around the ABL on their OLED’s but it still tends to kick in on large bright areas and be a little annoying… No tv is perfect (yet) and even if there was one, it’d either be insanely expensive or they’d find ways to make it marginally “more perfect” each year. Currently I’m seeing the 65” QN90A for $2k and the 65” G1 for $2,700 (both on BestBuy website) but I’d have to drive 2 hours away as they don’t ship to my area for some reason I think the lower price of the Samsung and not having to concern myself even a tiny bit about image retention over time is leaning me towards the Samsung, but I’m not 100% settled on that choice… Worse of all is that I *KNOW* I’m way overthinking this… I’m looking to go from what’s surely a 15+ year old 32” Westington w/ built in DVD player to a brand spanking new 65” flagship TV. There’s no way that I won’t be blown away for at least a decade by either one…. barring quality issues of course 😓
@Stan Kappiris I have one of those vintage media consoles (TV in the middle with pull-out swing doors, and top-access turntable and radio on either side); I already took the TV out since it didn’t work anymore to use that space for media players/game consoles, and I removed the turntable to use that space as a storage cubby. I kept the radio and *INTEND* to run whichever TV I get to the consoles speakers. It won’t be surround or anything fancy, but those old speakers sounded nice and rich when we tested the unit a few years ago. The room I’m in is fairly wide but not so deep, so I think it’ll sound pretty darn good if I can pull this off. And if it just sounds like an unimpressive sound system, at least the volume should be much better than if it were just the TV by itself With the vintage sound stuff I have I fear I’m just a scarf away from being mislabeled as a hipster 😅
My current "TV" is a Vizio E60 E3. It sits on a dresser in my bedroom (where I spend most of my time) at the foot of my bed (7ft). I'm looking to upgrade to OLED and the LG C1 seems to be the best TV all around. My problem is that the 65" is out of my budget, but the 55" is. I'm going to wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales to see if the 65" goes down in price.
FOMO is the real deal when it comes to purchasing a TV. Great rundown! The quality of TVs along with streaming, sports and gaming has tremendously improved from five and 10 years ago. I had a 2011 Sony Bravia 55" and 2015 curved Samsung 55". When I purchased my last TV, 42" was middle of the road. Today, 65" is middle and if you want to remain above the curve in terms of size for years to come go 75"/85". Nevertheless, during Prime Day 2021, I got the 65" LG CX for 1849.00 for my master bedroom. Great Buy! I am looking at the Samsung QN90A 75" for the holidays. Great work FOMO.
@@cyyoung6351 I don’t know what image dropout is, but maybe they got a dud unit and are projecting their units issues as being true for all Samsung’s? Same as the QLED/LCD crowd implies that *ALL* OLEDS are going to get burn in. Not necessarily true, but it ~IS~ a possibility, though apparently a less and less likely one each model year with added/improved safeguards… but the subpar brightness on OLED’s is still a big snag for me… just like black crushing and so-so dark viewing on QLED’s is still a snag They each have great attributes and they each have their limitations… I do feel that Samsung’s higher brightness potential and ability to maintain it without dealing with an auto brightness limiter gives it an edge with me. I’ve seen custom settings bring Samsung reasonably close to an OLED’s display, but it’s still not ~as~ good; but surely a million times better than my 32” Westington 😐😕

Difference between flagship (A90J) vs mid range (A80J) is usually just one new feature. In Sony's case it was the significant gain in brightness. The mid tier is usually last year's flagship.

I have a Samsung 3D 1080p TV I bought 10yrs ago and it still looks great. Maybe this year I'll switch over to 4k but I never really felt the need to. I wish they still came out with more 3D content for those 3D fans.
I really want Sony’s OLED and the 75/77inch but it’s not in my budget. Would you recommend going with the 65in A80J or 75 X90j/X950H? Living room > 10ft, not too light/dark room.
Good video, bro. It does annoy me that all the tv manufacturers are concentrating on the 55", 65" and above screen sizes. Not everyone has the space never mind budget for such large tvs. 50" is the max I can go due to room layout so Im considering the Samsung QE50QN94A here in the UK but, that's still over a grand until Black Friday sales!
Bought myself a LG C1 for PC Gaming and coming from a high end ultrawide gaming monitor I Will Never Go Back ….My best purchase ever .I absolutely love my C1 videos, Gaming everything looks amazing and soooooo smooth . Well done LG well done...
@@gregoryhwin 48" and about a meter to just less than a meter and the best part is there are no pixels visible even when I go right up to the screen. My game play have improved allot with this tv also as I always struggled to see people on my Ultrawide monitor at 120 Fov. It's really the best buy ever for me so far..
I got a Samsung curved 4k about 4 years ago. After about a month, I noticed it acting slow when starting up programs, closing programs randomly, and having trouble having 2 programs open (for example, I’d have to exit fully out of Netflix before starting up Hulu). Also, it would do this weird thing where if I turned on my Playstation, I would get a blank screen and have to go to a different input and then back to the one for my PS4 to get a picture. I contacted customer support a dozen times and all they did was reset my TV which would help for 2 days and it would go right back to how it was. This week, it stoped working with a blinking red light in the bottom right corner. I looked at a few online causes and ways to fix it which didn’t work. Unfortunately this gave me a bad impression of Samsung. I most likely will be going with LG or Sony next which may be better since I’m a gamer (For Life!).
I actually went from a 55” mid range TCL to a 48” C1 and I have no regrets. I would have preferred a 55” C1 but it’s 400 US dollars more than the 48” in my country, not worth it. I am very happy with the C1, sure it’s a little smaller than my previous TV but the gaming experience and picture quality is on another level plus I sit less than 5 ft away from the tv anyway .
Just bought a 77 in lg b3 for 1799 from costco....got 5 yr warranty....pretty happy....no gaming...sports and streaming coming from a 6 yr old lg 65 in led
I have a small living room area with the couch set 8 feet from the TV. Our old TV was 50”. My husband and I agreed that the recommended 65” TV would be too big for our home. If you think the above recommended sizes would be too overwhelming for your space, go with your gut. Otherwise, the four parameters he sets above are good for the average consumer.
With a higher pixel density you can go bigger. Our couch and chairs are similar and we have a 40 inch tv we bought a few years ago from Samsung that I’m not itching to replace. What do you get for your money? Bigger and deeper blacks. I don’t even think we have a problem right now. I can’t see the need either.
Definitely right. The sizes in this video are too big for the distance but all the rest is on point even though with risk of OLED. For 8 feet, 55" is the way to go.
@@SylvexDragonskin yeah it’s way too big for how close you are and if anything, it’s more so the room that dictates the size. And if you are close to the wall or stand then you would choose to either get smaller or keep the chosen size. That’s why I’m loooking for a 55 inch in the gaming room compared to the living room with a wall mounted 65 inch even though the distance away is roughly the same. It would totally look out of place in the gaming room with the angled ceiling from the roof and placement fo one side of the room etc. plus for gaming it wouldn’t be that ideal haha

Don't buy a Sony they don't give a shit about their customers. Also they still don't have VRR/ALLM... Look at what they did to the x900h people. 4k 120hz that was broken and blurry, still no promised VRR or ALLM. Plus LG includes 4 hdmi 2.1 ports. LG is the better company by far for tv's

Good job. Its very hard to make a choice with so many options out there but this chat from you makes it a lot easier. I have a 32 inch Sony Bravia thats about 10 years old. Works well and has a great picture. I would like a bigger screen. Considering the options still. I think a 55 inch for a small living room will fit the bill. I have had such good luck with Sony I think I will most likely stick with Sony.
In a March 11th, 2020 video, you gave 5 reasons why QLED was better than OLED. In your opinion, is this still true in 2021? I'm sensing you shifting now to OLED a tad more.
TCL is the best, value wise, feature wise, and versatility wise. TCL TVs also tend to be fully compatible with next gen consoles, especially the Xbox Series X with all the features you need at a low price.
Chinese manufacturer though, can't be certain if any tech they're using is based off of stolen IP. Not to mention putting money in the chicom's pocket, it's hard enough doing that with every day shopping.
@@yourma-uh5um Wrong. Hong Kong manufacturer, which only recently finally got taken over by China, but under certain laws and regulations. These TVs were also made before China "acquired" Hong Kong, so I would trust them wholeheartedly!

I loved my 6-series 75" TCL (2019 model) until it broke (power supply and could not get replacement part) after a year and a half. No more TCLs since they don't support servicing them after the sale. Went with LG C1 from Costco, very happy and 5 year warranty included....

I bought the Hisense U8G and I couldn't be happier, this TV kicks all these expensive TVs in the ass. The brightness is unbelievable and it hits the blacks just as well as any of these without a microscope. For most people at half the price it is amazing for video games, sports and streaming content.
@@EduardoMartinez-fk2pv really bad ghosting on the ps5. I don’t recommend it if you have a ps unless you plan on using the hdmi 2.0 port and not the 2.1 port. I would go with an entirely different tv if gaming is your main reason

I've always had Samsung TVs before, still do in our bedroom, I was worried but this TV blew me away and for 1/2 the price of the comparable TVs.
The TV is great. Super bright and great colors but they broke HDR in their latest update. Just got one but will return it. Again, it’s very bright and looks great on SDR.
The “first step” I agree is the correct step, but the criteria is flawed IMO My TV room wall can FIT a 110” behemoth… based on “get the biggest set that can fit the space”) But I’m almost exactly 9’ away (eyes to front of screen)… so a 75” is the size recommended based on sitting distance from screen/wall… But about a year ago when I started the pre-shopping process while I actually started saving for a TV, I set up vertical markers to represent the dimensions of a 75” in the spot the TV would ultimately go (the defacto size you believe to be right for 9’ viewing distance from screen) and maybe it’s just me but it felt like I’d be swaying my head side-to-side constantly all the time with a 75” panel just to get a sense that I wasn’t missing anything Again, maybe it’s something that I’d get used to in no time flat as I’ve never had anything larger than a 32” screen, but 65” at a 9’ viewing distance looked right based on my markers I know that peripheral vision is a thing and that I have to do this at a movie theater for instance, but that’s for a couple hours every now and again, not several hours a day each and every day with everything I need to look at, lol But again, maybe it’s just me? 🤔 I will admit that when I set the markers to what a 55” screen would equate to that it just looked disappointingly small (like it was noticeably bigger than my current/ancient 32” but it still just looked and felt disappointing) so I absolutely get why you don’t really bother mentioning anything less than 55” unless the available space or type of room is restrictive to a larger unit
Still has my mind boggled on what to get. Your step guide had me going for Samsung, then step 3 changed it to a Sony while it ignored step one and two... still confused. And I agree with others about size. We have a 43" at the moment and it's plenty big enough, we sit from 6 feet to 9 feet. We stream mainly while watching blu-ray from our collection. TV is next to the window. Buget is £800. Think I'm looking for a Samsung or Sony and 50 or 55" will be big enough for us. Been looking but I'm still lost on what to go for.

Not sure how you could get so much of what you said so wrong. I just used your video to show a friend of mine what a tv salesmen sounds like. And told him every step of the way why they should not listen to most of them. Thankyou for the video. It really helped him. With a little help he bought a good tv that worked for him. And had he listened to you. he would have bought poorly.
Nice job. I have an apparent draw to Sony, Bravia models specifically. I have a 65 for the man cave, a 75 for downstairs, a 78 for the main room, a 60 for the master bed. Additionally, still two tube modes for the basement beds. I love Sony.
I just left Best Buy 20 minutes ago and purchased the Sony A80k oled 77 inch. I have a samsung 65 led curved I got for $699 2 years ago. I wanted a high quality picture tv. But I didn't want the same size or to spend an arm and leg. Side by side, I prefer OLED over QLED. I did want an 85 inch tv, but I will only be about 7 ft away from the TV so 77 seemed fine. I didn't want to be overwhelmed with such a large screen.
I've had LG & Sony smart tvs in the past and they were really good quality tvs. But this year I bought a Samsung smart tv 6 months ago. It is by far the best tv I've ever purchased. It has all the apps like you would your phone where unlike LG and Sony it was limited which kinda sucked. Also because it is Samsung it connects to my phone easily. Both video and sound quality are on point the lighting and brightness is perfectly synced I didn't have to adjust anything. Samsung all the way for me.
I had 2 samsungs and both screen died out in 5 years . Was told they have bad quality control and . Also they are not the best smart tvs because they cannot be updated like sony
They all make cheaper models and better models. Some have a broader range of build quality for longevity, as someone who repaired tvs for years I have seen more led and main board failures on LG and vizio (made with LG components) than anything else. Older samsungs had capacitor issues. Their newer cheaper budget edge lit models have a high led failure rate and often the reflector panel behind the screen even melts and warps. Also, cyan is often greenish on samsung tvs for some reason. Id say the sony is the best for longevity but samsungs better tvs are good too.. When it comes to the cheaper sets, the companys name on the front sometimes isnt even the company who designed or built it. A lot of LGs older high end sets for example where mostly samsung components not sure if thats changed.. Also, often the cheaper chinese tvs can actually have multiple sets of different tv guts sold in the same case with the same model number..
Prefered Sizes: 65, 55 inches. Use: Gaming(PS5/high-end PC),streaming(Netflix),old-school (watching soccer matches live). Room and distance: 6-7 feet 24/7 Lights OFF Dark. Budget: ~$4000 Note*:I want a 4K@120hz with amazing Image Quality and Color Accuracy true blacks and I can wait Summer until 2022 . What do you recommend ? , Or do you advice to wait until new TVs comes out? And BTW am coming from an old 40 inch Full HD LED 2013-2012 Samsung TV
Oh yeah, a warning to people planning on buying a TCL TV. It had built in ads. Had I known this going in, I would have avoided this TV. It's the main reasons I'm looking to replace it. *No TV should have ad banners popping up while you're using your TV*

FOMO I am a gamer but I don't just play current gen I also play retro stuff like the snes, gamecube, ps2, ps3 and ps4, nintendo switch. I keep hearing you say get the LG OLED if you're a gamer but those features seem too modern for someone like me. However I do feel even slight input lag so I'm not sure of anything else will suffice. Considering that you think Sony is good for older content I'm torn between the C9 and a Sony OLED. Tell me what should I go for if I watch content new and old, do heavy gaming both new and retro, thanks.
I'm in the UK so we have Panasonic and Philips over here too. It's a shame you don't have access. You break down the topics so well. I'm hoping to replace my TV at the end of the year. It's a non-smart £275.00/1080p/Sharp 40" from 2016, which I did little research on because I was so confused by the options. But it is definitely not the Sharp from my childhood in the late-80s/early-90s. The GUI is so bland and slow, the TV guide takes up the entire screen, it cashes once a day, and if you turn the TV off while on HDMI, when you turn on again it takes a few tries of freezing and crashing before you can get it back to Aerial source. If I knew Sharp was such a different company now I woulda saved up £100 more and gotten a Sony. I don't know if I trust the Chinese brands yet. So for my new purchase I'm leaning towards Panasonic or Sony as I've also heard they are similar. I'll keep the other top brands in mind, but I definitely want to stick to my budget of £600 and get a (true) 2021 model. Hopefully there's a sale on an £800 unit later in the year. Or if there's a 12-month 0% finance offer on a £1000 unit going for £800, I'll be interested.
Gone the other way around when I needed a new tv when I decided to return my Sony. I have an amount of money and I absolutely needed great reflection handling. It really reduced the number of available TVs. Ended up with a q80r.
We are in the market for a new TV, 55".Sony A80J, Samsung QN90A, and LG C1are at a comparable price point right now - between $1100-1200. We don't play any games. We will use the TV mainly for watching movies, TV shows, and sporting events (all streaming). I personally want a TV that will let me see dark scenes better. Also, the viewing angle is important because of our seating arrangement (U or C shape seating). we will be wall mounting the TV above the fireplace. Which one should we get? One point I'll make is that the living room where this TV will go is a little bright. We do plan to put curtains so I guess it won't matter as much. I did see Hisense U8G also on the lists online as a good budget TV. How does the U8G rank with these three TVs? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!

I bought a 65" LG GX in late 2020 and love it for my living room. I don't understand the "dim" issue for OLEDs though, I've never had an issue with brightness with an OLED.
Aren’t we pass this burnin oled issue, modern oleds don’t get burn in unless you intentional try to burn it in, if you watch mixed content no burn in will happen, if you watch the same tv channel with a bright logo like cnn for 12 hours a day 7 days a week then you might get burn in.
Awesome content! I am very interested in the OLED, we do primarily TV, streaming, and I do casual gaming on a PS5. We recently moved and our new setup is 11 ft+ and we have a large wall that can fit a massive TV(currently have like a 48inch that 'worked' in our old home and we are getting by in this setup). We 'have' the budget to go crazy. But its so hard for me to justify regardless of that, to spend $5K+ on a 83 inch TV when the 77 inch is so much cheaper. Just hard for me to think those extra inches will make $2K+ worth of difference, especially given what we are use to.
I bought the Hisense U7G 55", I sit maybe 7-8 feet and wanted 120hz Qled for a decent price. Plan on getting a ps5 and even with my 50" 1080p tv was big enough 😆. Im not to worried about the more expensive name brands, just need a tv that'll work and either way it'll be a big upgrade.
I got the 65"(All I need in size) C1 Not really cause of Gaming cuz I honestly don't do that anymore, it's Lost its Flair for me. All the Online crap killed it for me. But cause of Price to proformance to features. (Moderate Streaming an alot of 4K/HD Blu-ray bit of Offline gaming) It's a good all around TV had everything I do and don't use for a Great price. Had flagship Money, Just didn't feel the flagship need

I find it odd that no TV under 65" should even be considered for purchase. By that standard, a 55" TV is basically useless unless you're close enough to lick the screen?...
I think he meant this for a dedicated viewing space or possibly a medium to large living room. Smaller sizes are good for spaces where you cannot fit a larger tv or where you do not want the tv to be the focal point like a bedroom or office.

I’m debating on choosing between Samsung or LG, my last Samsung tv which I bought back in 2017 started to have blue purple spots appear on screens after having it for about 4 and half years,w as really disappointed. Reason why I might get LG is due to a 70 inch available on target and I have few discounts to bring it down to $535 total after taxes so to me that’s a deal yet I never owned a LG tv before and I don’t think it’s an OLED either
i have had a few LG, just avoid the NanoCell ones if possible. I have the C2 42 at the moment, and its great except not for working on PC... that price is def not OLED. But a big TV makes up a lot for the details....
one thing NO ONE covers is if any of these tv's give the option to switch the screen to 4:3 with pillarbox, to watch old tv shows? or are you stuck with a stretched image?
Since 2013, I've been using a 40 inch 1080p Sony R450A and I absolutely love this TV. It has deep blacks, solid colors, it's awesome. I'm starting to have issues with it so I am in the market for a new TV. I figured Sony would be the safe bet because of how much I love the R450A, but I bought the 50" X90J and I did not like it at all, it was nowhere near as good as my current Sony TV, so I sent it back, thought maybe it could have been a fluke, then I purchased a 43" X85J and it was the same picture quality, which I wasn't a fan of. Pretty disappointed about that because I thought Sony was a safe option.
What is recommended for me? I want a great tv 65" minimum with a kick ass easy to use voice activated remote! I'll be using DirectTV Stream Premier package with ATT 1000 fiber optic internet. Lots of streaming. Sughestions please.
Thank you for the video 👍 I feel, for all the use cases except serious gaming, Sony is better due to its overall picture quality. It's colour management and clarity is second to none.
How do you find out what models are the flagship and which are not besides the higher price? Sometimes it's hard to determine which of the models are the newest models.
Nice helpful video. But you said if we watching TV in a bright room, Samsung or Hisense would good. You did not mention the best ones for watching in a dimming lighting. The overall video was great, thanks.
Works for me... .. I bought the 65" Samsung Neo QLED QN90A for a small living room, (during holiday sales). We sit meh, just about or just over 10' from the screen, its a bright room with big windows and south facing, hence the choice of the Samsung... Wow the detail on the picture in movies...Since then, the 55" Neo QLED QN90A went on sale, pre-SuperBowl, and so added that size for the Master Bdroom. It will be interesting to see if that size works from just beyond the foot of the bed distance. Bigger is better... It displaces a 49" TV, which seemed big enough in the past. But not now..Bigger is better.. The 49's are relegated to a small office, and garage now.

I sit 10 feet from my screen. I've had a 65" for the past 5 years. Upgrading to a 77" this time. Would love to do 83". But it's just too hard to fit it properly in my room. So 77 it is.
Hi. I am looking to purchase the Samsung Frame. It will definitely be a wall mount. Question is, should I put it on a swivel? It's an awkward open space. We will be viewing from the living room and kitchen. No real line separation. Basically 5-15 feet away.
Thank you very much for posting this video. It’s straightforward & full of common sense which I love & made the decision process easy. I’d hide a TV in my living room if I could as I do think they tend to dominate the room too much. I think TV manufacturers are missing a trick by not thinking more about the design of TVs in relation to a room’s interior design plan. Having said that, I chose a Samsung 55in TV which I thought was going to be too big but when it was installed it was perfect. After being a Sony lifer, I chose Samsung because of the size, budget (a Black Friday deal), anti glare screen properties, features, brand quality, 5 year guarantee & I got a free sound bar thrown in. Really happy. I would not hesitate to recommend your videos to anyone wanting to buy a TV. You’re amazing! Thanks.
