You can actually make a case for Van Dijk because in his last full season they finished 8 and reached a cup final. In the season where he didn't want to play for the club and left in January, they survived relegation on the final day of the season.

I think the sale of Andy Carroll in Jan 2011 hurt the Toon more. It demonstrated to the fans Jabba the Hutt (Ashley) doesn't care and had learnt nothing from the relegation. It let fans know we were in for years of pain as no one was safe. The Cabaye sale was just further proof of this. No ambition for the fat man.

As he specifically said in the video, Man Utd kept on winning everything a few years after CR7 left. Tadic never was a world class player at Southampton. But most importantly, do you really think Tottenham are currently regretting about the loss of Bale? Back then they were definitely not the powerhouse they are now. Just think of the 2015-16, which they could've ended up as champions, had it not been for Leicester...

After ronaldo left Man utd won the league twice and qualified to the champions league final in three years. They became trash because ferguson left. A year after they won the league with ferguson, they finished 7th with david moyes and almost the same squad.

Selling Cristiano Ronaldo hurt more than Beckham. Both are fine players, but there's just no one like Cristiano Ronaldo. His work rate, his work ethic, his dedication to the game was second to none. Even though he's not the captain, he always becomes an example when it comes to hard work. Had he stayed Man Utd would reach Champions League semifinal on an annual basis.
