Dr. Fung I know you said creamer is ok but what about Sugar free creamer like 3tbs or Italian sugar free creamer ? I try to do black but I just can’t 😔

This is Sooooooooooooooooo true,,,,,,,,, but it doesn't only apply to food.. I use to make fun of people that were cheaters on their spouse.. (youtube will censor if I use the word for it) The excuse everyone uses when caught is "It was an accident" ..... They just happen to accidently both be naked in a bedroom all by themselves, and accidently fall into said bed and....... you get the rest of the accidents that happened..... Its a matter of what is important to you.. Not only physically but morally.... We have become a morally bankrupt nation and I believe it was done on purpose.
I am 190 I always been 145 my whole life at one point lower than that I've gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and now that I am engaged I am wanting more to be healthy again. ru-vid.comUgkx5VQ5nUzHu6i0O5_u7ipyLnCz0lbsSvr0 I am not fat but I am thick and have muscle. I am very close to how you were but a lil smaller but I am so sick people making comments to me like I'm huge or like you said having shorts that used to be so cute on me and now I can't even find a pair to fit me. I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. I went from size 5 to size idk because I don't even want to know the real number. I hate looking at pics of myself now or me before. thank you for your video it's time to make a change.

Good luck do it. I am ending day three this afternoon. The first day just green tea with collagen ,cream ,a little butter, blended. and bone broth late afternoon. Then cup of green tea plain in on second day, then water only😀.
Thank you Dr Fung. I started two weeks ago at 350lbs and I’m doing the 16:8 fast and I’m down to 334lbs this morning. I’m exercising each day too. I’m grateful for your help and advice
@@RC-vh8id It's when you only eat in an 8 hr window which means you fast for 16hrs. I, for example, do an 18:6. I eat at noon and 6:00 pm which has me fasting for 18hrs a day.
I’m only a week into this. I’m doing low carb and three 36 hour fasts per week. I have type 2 diabetes and I’m 70+ pounds over weight. I’m 54 and have two kids that are National class athletes. I’m counting on this to extend my life and enable me to interact better with my young adult kids. So far so good. I’m feeling optimistic about this process. Wish me luck!
Waking up with an empty stomach is THE BEST thing ever! Fasting was my solution to night time snacking. Falling asleep without new food in my stomach makes it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep!
Everyone seems to forget about white tea. It is the youngest of the tea leaves, has the lowest caffeine but the most antioxidants. It is a very mild tasting tea.
Fasting in changing my life. Fasting has even helped me move away from drinking alcohol. I've lost over 35 lbs since January 2nd. I've slowly stepped up to a regular daily 16/8 fast, and now I can easily do a 36-hour fast that I have done twice this year so far. My brain just works better. I am more productive. I look forward to getting up in the morning because my sleep is improving. My resting heart rate, BMI, visceral fat, and blood pressure are all headed down. My inflammation and the constant pain in my lower back and legs are gone. My sex life is back after over two years in the toilet. The power of fasting cannot be overstated.
Thank you Dr. Fung. I was a lifelong over eater, binge eater and all around load! A chance viewing of one of your videos while surfing RU-vid changed my life. I started omad in august and never looked back. So far have lost 75 pounds and rarely am I hungry. Also started hiit and never have I felt or looked better. Oh yeah, I'm 64 yo. You saved my life and that's no exaggeration.
@@kimdube2440 my question! I keep reading and watching and o hear it all the time of the benefits but no one tells me mentally what to tell yourself! I am trying so freaking hard but I can’t stop eating at 7 I can at 8 and that I have success with but if I stop at 6 or 7 I get up at 2 or 3 and eat and at that time my mind is not wanting to fast. Idk I am a night eater but feel like crap when I do!! I am lost
Your kindness and gentle way of explaining how to improve our health is much appreciated. Congratulations to your parents for doing an amazing job bringing you up. Bless them and bless you.
Thank you, Dr Fung. You're life saver, I'm practicing One Meal A Day for 4 months now and I'm back to my early twenties again (I'm 64 now). I wish I didn't donate all of my old clothes that now I'm fitting in it. Fasting really give me more freedom of what I can eat. No restriction and no guilt. If I see my weight gain a little, I can increase my fasting time to accommodate it. Works like a charm.
@@marciasitonio409 As I'm an Asian, my must have every day is white rice. On top of the rice will be stir fry vegetable with chicken or beef or pork or seafood. I normally use lard and olive oil for cooking.
The moment I drink coffee, the worst hunger hits me! Why do we need coffee,aș long as you said that fasting is giving us a huge energy? I see this contradiction at every podcast about fasting.I do support the benefits of fasting,to be clear! I see all the time, our orthodox monks fasting.I know a person who made prostata cancer dissapear, after one month of fasting. It happened three month ago.He lives in Germany! Good luck, all of you! I 🙏
August 19th 2020, I was at 255 pounds. I saw Dr Fung on you tube. I have been on 18/6 fast ever since. I also eat a keto/carnavor diet. As of today January 24 2021 I weigh 195 pounds. 25 pounds to my goal. Thank you Dr Fung!!
@@scottmcanea you can do it. I chose to eat between the hours of 12 noon and 6pm. That way I am sleeping for alot of the fast and eat when I normally would. Cheeseburgers, bacon and eggs, hotdogs, Barbecue without sauce. Use real butter to cook with or the bacon grease. Stay busy in the morning. Exercise during the fast to increase growth hormones and testosteron. Good luck!!
True. My scale didn't budge for a full month, but my pants were loose, belly flatter, etc. It drove me crazy! About the 5th week my scale started the incredibly slow downward movement. I'm only down 5 pounds in five weeks, but it is happening. Hang in there, everyone. Sticking with it costs you nothing.
Hi Jen. I have been looking for good information on the subject of fasting and this Dr knows his stuff. I am going to start my fasting journey this weekend. I have always had an iffy relationship with food. Main problem is I like to too much lol. I wish you lots of success with your weight loss!
@@nevermore4971 I wish you success. Remember to be patient and that you will never lose any weight by giving up. The hard part for me was giving up red wine. It's worth it, because I feel pretty terific!! Go for it.
Every time I look at the scale and it's hardly moved I tell myself I didn't gain the weight over night so I won't lose it over night either. I don't know why that works for me but it keeps me out of the refrigerator.
Your body’s may be retaining water. Electrolytes, trace minerals and even just straight salt into your water helped me a lot. Also cleared up headaches
In 14 months of Fasting I was able to go from Level-2 Obese to Normal Weight (BMI < 25). The last few pounds were the hardest, because they didn't want to go away. I was on a 18 hour fast followed by 6 hour window for 2 meals. I switched to OMAD (One meal a day) to lose the final few pounds. That worked very well. I still want to lose 1 more pound and then I'll switch back to a 18/6 ---> 20/4 pattern to maintain the weight. A year and a half ago I wouldn't have believed this was possible.
Hi Bob, was it hard to transition to the OMAD? I have been doing 16:8 since November and seeing good results but coming towards my goal and I'm slowing down.
Danielle I suggest you come at it through a series of steps. Go a week or two with 18/6., then go another week or two at 20/4. I find 20/4 challenging, so it's a mind game to bring yourself to follow through. After that pick a day and try OMAD. I find that from 11AM to 2PM it the toughest time, so this is when I exercise. In my case go for a multi-mile walk. That seems to take my mind off the hunger and during the walk, I don't feel hungry. I first tried OMAD as only two days of the week. It was about two months later that I decided to switch to OMAD every day. I'm now about one pound away from my target, so it's only one more week. It is a challenge, but you have to really set your mind to just push hard to do it. I hope this helps.

Food , eating can be seen as threatening even a weapon to use against someone. Perhaps your changing your eating habits are bringing up an issue in your husband's life he is using procrastination to not deal with. Maybe ask him if there is something you can do to support him in that he may want to challenge himself with? Then share your progress together not apart.
It's taken me a year of different times of fasting, to feel comfortable with OMAD. I give myself 1.5 hours to eat dinner. Finished dinner usually by 7:00. Only water or a decaf coffee after dinner. Water or a Pellagrino during the day. Following Dr. Westman's page 4 list of foods. Been keto for 5 years and am such a turtle at losing! Thinking I'm eating to much, so really watching my carbs in my vegetables, and stopping my eating when full! I'll weigh and measure on the first and see if this woe is helpful! Will be 72 in March and been heavy since I was 8yo. I have many years of inflammation to correct!
Have to comment in all his videos from now! So more people will get his help! He is a very compassionate Doctor that many people will benefit from his videos!
The way I've always looked at it is you want to remain in fat burning mode upon waking up at least until noon. Took some getting used to but I always add whipping cream to my coffee which seems to work. I have a glass of 1/2 tsp salt water and on days I do OMAD I'll drink lemon water with Stevia throughout the day. I do about 2 OMADS a week, typically Monday and Thursday. Wow, I've been doing this now for 4 years! I wasn't fat but was very unhealthy and definitely needed to keep my weight below a certain level. Your work has been a blessing.
Thank you Dr Fung. Your advise came at the right time. I broke my low carbs fast today and I'm feeling very hungry now. I started out IF 16-20hrs daily and 24hrs once a week. I lost 22lbs since I started on 17Sept 2020. My weight don't seem to drop much but I can wear size XL from 3XL.
That’s great. I don’t weigh myself but determine how much I lost by clothing size. Just a different measurement. Just a different number. Plateaus come and go. I am giving my body time to heal itself from the years that I misused it. This is my own race and for me magic is that I feel great along with wearing a smaller size. Blessings. ❤️🌈🌹💜🌻💕🌎😸🦋
Dr Fung, you are the most genuine doctor the medical schools all over the world combined have produced. Thank you for this information. You changed my life. God will bless you and your family.
Intermittent and water fasting has *changed my life!* So far, I've shed 43lbs 👏 I just recently completed my 72hr water fast and I felt amazing. I would've gone for longer but I didn't wanna push it yet. _Fasting is amazing_
Excellent Dr. Fung ... as always. Thank you for taking the time to put these videos together. I know you're busy, but we deeply appreciate your words of encouragement and common sense approach.
I'm doing 18/6 with keto. In week 4. Struggling so much with my energy levels. I hope it gets better soon. I'm at 195 and have 145 as my goal. I had reached 173 a year ago but had to quit because of covid and life circumstances of being thrown into elder care of both parents with rapidly declining health. So stressful. One parent is passed now, so I'm trying to get back on track. It's very important to me that I try.
Dr. Fung: This video and others of yours is exactly the information I need at this time. I'm very reluctant to take meds and often don't take them when prescribed. I'm in my senior years and quite overweight. It has been creeping up for years. I have sleep apnea, recently prescribed steroids for asthma, have rarely used them and not for a while, my chol and blood sugar are creeping up as well. My doc offered meds. I was contemplating taking them. Now I know, after hearing from you that they contribute to increasing insulin, I'm going with the autophagy method. I like the idea of my body eating itself. Makes fasting sound more exciting and not so much like depriving myself of something. Very grateful.
Dr. Fungi is my favorite Dr. I could not drop one ounce. Since my fasting journey, in about 6 months ago, starting at 168, today I am 139 and reading my goal.. 9 pounds to go. No pills needed, no secrets, not even heavy exercises. Thank you, Dr. Fung.
I know this is an old video but my God I found it so helpful as I’ve just started my fasting journey….. You can do it! No to insulin. Insulin is the fat storage hormone. That will increase your weight. Read Dr Fung book. The diabetes code. Cheapish on kindle. You can get a sample before buying it. No carbs. Read labels. No fruit. No processed foods. Only fresh foods. You only have to loose 10% of weight to lower your insulin. And lower your HB A1c. Good luck. It is hard at first, but once you understand it becomes easy.
They would probably make fun of him, keep interrupting him and brush him off like they did with Cole Robinson (of the Snake Diet) when he talked about the benefits of fasting. "The Doctors" are nothing but arrogant clowns.
Learning so much. I'm incorporating fasting in my life. Was doing diet pills & appetite suppressants over the counter then I asked my doctor to prescribe diet pills & they made me so groggy and sleepy I stopped taking them. Now, I just Fast several times a week until I get to my desired weight of: Slim & Fit!😊
I use the tape measure and the scale . Frustratingly , at those times when the scale just won’t budge and I was doing great on my eating , fasting and exercise, I would see the inches go down. I was building muscle and burning fat. I always say, “Jeans don’t lie!” So, if you get caught in a “gravity storm “ with the scale don’t worry, success is only time away. Best of health to you!

Does sweeteners like Stevia in your coffee affect the effectiveness of the fast or insulin levels? or it just affects you in terms of feeling hungry? I'm more concerned about the former..
@@xxxrazorsharpxxx It didn't affect my fasting except for the hunger pangs and I was less active also whenever I use artificial sweetners, I tend to struggle with my fast. Thank you, Dr. Fung, for educating us so we can lead healthier lives. I started fasting 16/8, and in 2 days, my morning BS readings have dropped from the 160s to 114. I'm determined to get healthy, and you are a tremendous help in reaching that goal. We appreciate all you do!
Dr. Fung, listening to your videos has completely changed my mindset on “dieting”. I’ve been taking your advice and I’ve never felt better in my life- thank you!!
Noticed that my weight increased but after looking at the scales detailed breakdown, my muscles had increased by the same amount of weight gain and my body water also increased. Muscle holds more water than fat. So actually had lost body fat. Felt disappointed with myself but afterwards when I learnt to read the information was pleased with the improvement. Fasting correctly with work and exercise can increase muscle mass.
There is only one genuine person, Dr. Jason Fung. Thank you sir for writing those books and changing my life, I lost 30 pounds in 6 months and have kept it off for 2 years now.
Thanks so much for your informative and sensible tips on fasting. I have been doing IF for about 2 years now and I feel great.I lost 21 pounds, and I still have about 10 more to go for my ideal weight. My thinking is clear, I can concentrate and focus on things I am working on, and my memory has improved so that I can even remember dreams whereas in the past I couldn't. I owe it all to your and your first videos 2 years ago. Thank you!!
I just did a 7-day fast and lost 17 lbs. A couple of years ago I did another fast, it lasted only 3 days though, because the headaches and dizziness were too much to continue. I did not have that issue this time and I know it was because I took vitamins and minerals. I had biotin, cod liver oil, salt, and added fresh lemon juice to my water, that was all. I am going to do Keto OMAD for today and tomorrow then start another fast, I think I will do only 5 days this time. I have a Hydrogen Water Generator Bottle coming on Monday, I think that will help me out a lot on my upcoming fast.
thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this helps so much. there is so much QUACKERY in the weightloss industry and in the "wellness" trends. I have tried all kinds of stuff, even making myself sick sometimes. i'm so happy to be seeing results fasting- but your videos help me learn more and be able to improve what i'm doing. thanks!
Thank you doctor! I am COMMITTING TO THIS. I'm reaching the end of day 1, i have attempted something similar before but I knnow i can do it this time! Thank you so much for inspiring me to change my life at 33
I'm into it for a month, minus 10 lbs. The first few days were the hardest with most of the keto flu symptoms like headache, dry heaving. Commit to go past those days and it will only get better. Binge YT and learn. Buy the necessary supplements like electrolyte powder for strength. Jason was my third doctor who came in my feed. First was Dr. Eric Berg (healthy keto) who got me jumping into it, then Dr. Sten Eckberg. We're all in this together.

Please, please say I can have some marmite diluted in hot water during fasting. I do take it once on a fasting day, and I never feel hungry, it gives me complete satisfaction and a lot of energy, and that starts to ring the bell - what if I simply break my fast with it? So no matter how much do I love marmite, if the science say no, I will keep it for no fasting days. Please, tell us what the science has to say about it? And thank you, doctor, for all your hard work and precious time you spend to share your knowledge.
Ive done 6 days dry fast (soft) and 5 days dry fast (hard), its no biggie if you're an experiences faster. Great dr. and I started my fasting journey tks to him 3 yrs ago. That being said, he's more knowledgeable on classic fasting and NOT dry fasting. Studies in Russia have been done with participants lasting 11 days. Longest water fast recorded is over 300 days...FYI
Hi Doc, Your efforts in spreading word about fasting are so incredible 🙏. I just have one issue, because of fasting i feel so good so far and the results are exactly like you describe. The only problem is sleep as my body is blooming with energy and it takes some effort to sleep.I humbly request you to address this in any of your next video if you find this as a common problem and a remidie exist.
Same. Any time I go 72hr+, I'm absolutely wired. I just listen to guided meditation while in bed (not great sleep hygiene, I know), plus mentally beg for sleep, and it eventually comes.
I don’t think there’s much evidence to show that it does directly, although it does need to be digested so there might be an indirect impact to the fast but this has not been proven anywhere.
Oh not for me! One sip of something with Aspartame and I'll have a migraine in 30 seconds.. I drink lots of Fiji water. It has all the minerals I need.
This is what I love about you. Eric Berg and Mindy always come across so strict about what you can and can't have during your fast. Which makes it too hard for some people to start. If one can have coffee with milk and diet zero calorie drinks etc. Then they can keep going through the fast. Makes it so much easier to succeed. ❤
Dr. Berg is more strict but also better example of health looking person than Dr. Jason of course if you have an eye to see. They are both great! But some people like doctors offer exactly what the listeners like to hear. Dr. Jason has an amazing knowledge and wisdom but I believe Dr. Berg is an example and evidence that intermittent fast works!
I find that planning a fast is the most successful way. I keep myself distracted and always keep sipping from the water bottle. Early nights are vital to avoid that wanting a snack late in the day. My record so far is 68 hours and I hope that at some point this year I'll do that one week fast - it'll be a life time achievement in my eyes. I've also influenced two other people to try fasting, both love it and feel better for doing it. PS Loved your Guide to Fasting especially the bit about big food companies using formula of sugar and fat to keep us hooked.
You're absolutely brilliant. I appreciate how clear and concise you are. I'm 24, and have been struggling with binge eating. I've been doing IF for about a week now to heal myself and lose some of the weight I've packed on and really needed some more information. You are awesome!
Same here im 24 and used to be extremely fit with kickboxing and going to the gym everyday. I really fell off after some health issues, i hope this fasting thing can kickstart my weight loss journey
Great video! Dr. Fung doesn't mention it in this video, (but he does in his books), artificial sweeteners actually trigger insulin secretion (known as the "cephalic phase"). This lowers your glucose level (making you hungry and worsening insulin resistance.) This was the piece of research for me that convinced me that it was important to eliminate artificial sweeteners, (not someone preaching that artificial sweeteners were bad for you because they are "not natural".) Science! :)
