We also saw the Enterprise F but weren’t really told what happened to it after Frontier Day. What really gets me is that the refit Titan carried most of the weight during season 3 and was then unceremoniously rechristened as the Enterprise G. That kind of slights the Titan’s role is saving the Federation from the Changeling / Borg coup.

@@docfaust2073 Yes, the first Ship namend "Enterprise" that really shouldn´t have come into existence like it did. That´s defenitely not a good Start for an Enterprise and besides that: They are eating up the letters of the Alphabet way to fast..... how should they get to the Enterprise-J without either some Enterprises that get extremely loong service times, or without having a Enterprise for a few decades or even centuries? In only about 30 years of Starfleet history we are now seeing the 4th ship of that name. The way they named the -G was stupid and there was just no need for it. It could have been either the -E that´s still active, or a brand-new -F that´s just at the start of a long career.

It definitely doesn't make sense for Federation ships to last a decade or so. Realistically, tho they are essentially a post-scarcity society (mostly) it does take resources to build a starship. Like how many trillions of dollars would just the Bakula-era ship cost in today's money? What kind of labor force do you need for that? What kind of infrastructure needs to be in place to develop just one ship, much less a fleet? Aircraft carriers are in service for a long time. Large ships are in service for a long time. You would build those to last and introduce periodic upgrades until it's no longer practical to keep it in service. There's no way the average ship would encounter enough temporal rifts and spatial anomalies and such to damage it heavily enough that it needs to be replaced after a few years. Of course they would keep exploratory and survey vessels in service for 200 years. It makes a lot more sense than the Enterprise thing Anyway, sorry about the screed. I just think about that from time to time and I find it frustrating. Funny, yes. But also frustrating

I really enjoyed Picard season 3 and the design for the Titan did grow on me but I just don’t understand why they would take a Luna Class vessel and retrofit it backwards to the Neo Constitution Class, it had to have been a huge undertaking to essentially remodel the entire thing and give it armaments that Starfleet had grown past to newer, better, and more effective ones like the phaser strips. While we’ve finally seen the original design in Lower Decks, this gave us the perfect chance to see it properly with a refit and the Neo-Connie could still have been in the show under another name. Seeing the E would have been awesome even if only a flashback with Worf captaining, I mean we only got one flyby of the F which if not seeing more of it, we could have seen more of that Class after it being such a huge thing in STO. I don’t like the renaming of the Titan to the Enterprise G either, while some might not agree I think it cheapens everything that the Titan of both classes had achieved and while the Enterprise is not consistently the flagship more often than not when one is in service it is and I don’t think that the renamed Titan carries the gravitas of a ship named Enterprise carries and definitely not that of the flagship.

Great video. Here's a theory given what we know about the Titan (Luna) scrapped and used to build the Titan-A, could the same technique have been done for the Enterprise-E and it used in the construction of the Enterprise-F? That's precedence established. Geordi's line that "Obliviously we can't use the Enterprise-E" leaves the door wide open. We don't see it at the fleet museum, and it is not explicitly said to have been destroyed.

I think the ultimate answer lies partly in its damage from Nemesis. I doubt that structural damage could ever be fully repaired and likely limited her service life. This plus whatever happened during Worf's final mission probably led to her being decommissioned and scrapped, as she was no longer fit for service. It didn't make sense to repair a ship that already was so weary.

P'Takh! You take that back! I will not allow this slander against Worf to stand! You will pay for your insolence!
@ryuukeisscifiproductions1818
Maybe, but I'm thinking its more likely that the sovereign class just wasn't a good fit for an enterprise to begin with. The sovereign is designed primarily as a warship, foregoing most of the exploration and multi mission capabilities of the galaxy for increased combat power and a slimmed down hull. this makes the sovereign class a poor fit for the multi mission exploration duties expected for enterprise. My thinking is that Enterprise-E was a hasty replacement for the unexpected loss of D, and because starfleet was facing constant threats at the time. they couldn't replace D with a new galaxy. But starfleets actual plan for enterprise D was about 30 to 40 years of service, then get replaced by something like an odyssey class. So if enterprise D had not been destroyed, then Enterprise F would have been the E.

I hate to admit it but you have a point. Also Sovereign Class ships don't belong in the museum, they're too new! In Picard Season 3 the D got repeated mentions, along with models, paintings and the actual ship returning, whereas the E gets two direct mentions which didn't reveal much. The E never seems to get mentioned in other series either for some reason. I had a thought that that red door Jack kept seeing and one Troi saw with him in that counselling session could have been the red door of Engineering on the E that Picard had to go through in order to find Data (in First Contact). It's there he's confronted by the Borg Queen. This could have helped Troi realise the influence of the Borg over Jack and their connection to the Changelings Indeed, it was that same Queen who sought out Jack anyway, so a nice connection in my view and a nod to the oft-overlooked Enterprise E

STO seems to have established that the original USS Galaxy is still in service 55 years later after many upgrades. The way the Trek producers have made Enterprises disposable after a few years is just ridiculous at this point, given that the TNG bible meant to have the ship last 100 years and get new upgrades and crews. Why would you spend all that time design and building something to throw it out in a decade or so? There's also the fact that the last shots of Picard with the Enterprise-D next to the Titan show that Andrew Probert's Modern Organic design STILL looks more futuristic than the newer designs with hard angles and Star Wars greeblies.

Are you talking about the enterprise F ? It’s not a failure, it had problems off screen. It was said that it was one of the best ships but eventually got damaged beyond repair and was only good for this type of show thus it’s retirement… …and replacement by the neo-constitution class USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-G

Any stories where Data, having returned in the body of B-4, is Captain of the Enterprise-E cannot be canon due what we learned about the fate of B-4 in the first season of the _Picard_ series.

The way everyone looked at Word, I think the story of the Enterprise-E's fate is crying out to be told as a Lower Decks story. It has the added benefit that the TNG cast could voice their "younger" selves.

problem.. the novels arnt canon - to me atleast.. if we assume this is true then we know nothing what happend to the enterprise E after nemisis.. i think we need a film or series for that! also.. picard isnt cannon for me too. so essentialy startrek and cannon ended for me after nemisis and i still miss it.. i want a canon film or series.. but sadly thats not possible because kurzman.. - i want tng/voy style roddenbarry trek! about the enterprise e, about the enterprise-d after her crash, about the uss prometheus.. but atleast isnt only startrek over since nemisis.. no starwars was also over after a point.. oh well..

I look at it this way. It wasn't Worf's fault that accepting a classified mission would require the Enterprise E being permanently renamed. Either that or she was stolen under bizzare circumstances.

When I originally heard the joke, I immediately just assumed that while Worf was in charge (whether as Captain, or more likely in temporary command such as Geordi in Arsenal of Freedom) a "Badmiral" was involved and forcefully took command of the E and then caused its destruction.

I know I’m in the bleak minority here but I never could get ‘on-board’ with the Enterprise E. It’s possible I’m still hurting from when D was (rather cinematically) killed off. To me, E was a ‘movie ship’ and we only ever got to see the very basics of her. Because of this, I just never warmed to her at all. Even the interior I found to be too dark, too cold and just not very inviting when compared to her predecessor. Yes, I know that in-universe there’s a reason for that but it just didn’t sell it to me at all. I do think the ready room on E was far more cosy than on D, so it does have that going for it!

What happened to it? Simple. The last season was pure fan service and while the E was part of the Next Gen crew the D was and always will be the hero ship that goes with that crew. They could have rolled out the E under someone else's command instead of the F but showing the E being commanded by someone who wasn't part of the original Next Gen crew would have taken something away from the fann service (yes I know Shelby was part of the crew for two whole episodes.) Using the F allowed them to remove side line that whole issue by having a ship that had zero association with the crew. You then have the reveal of the D. Yes they could have rolled out the E but let's face it how many fans watching Picard expected the E to show up? Every thing going in to Picard suggested the E was still kicking around and in service if she'd shown up it would have been nice but not exactly a big surprise. The reveal of the D though, THAT was a genuine surprise made better by the fact that there was no pre-release leaks suggesting that the D would turn up in the show. So yes we can theorize convoluted what ifs as to what happened to the E but the answer is she was sidelined to not diminish the genuine surprise return of the D. (The show should have done a better job of explaining what happened to the E or not bothered referencing her at all, the throw away comedy one liner it used actually did her a disservice.)

The fact that Geordi said "We can't use the Enterprise-E" suggests it was damaged and is undergoing repair somewhere, as opposed to being destroyed.

In Picard we saw the Enterprise F and G, the fact we had three suggests that E was not in service and by the end of the series neither was the F. However, they bought the D back so maybe the E is also salvageable but there was no prime directive risk necessitating the recovery.

I feel the same that they shouldve given then Titan more credit than just rechristening it as the enterprise G but at the same time it had that cool factor seeing a neo-constitution class being the new enterprise. it gave me shatner movie levels of "what a beautiful ship" at the end of the series. they might have also done it so they can start up a new show in the main timeline finally, which would be really awesome imo as long as it keeps the SNW/picard season 3 style going and not discovery levels of storytelling.

I disagree with the theory that the Enterprise-E was destroyed. Geordi stated that there was still hull work to do on the Enterprise-E and the nacelle covers were a "nightmare" while at the ship museum in Star Trek: Picard season 3. Therefore, the Enterprise-E could not have been destroyed.

I can see the Sovereign Class as a "place holder" position as Starfleet downsized the size of their ships in response to the recent wars. If Nemesis taught them anything, really big expensive ship bad, many small nearly as powerful ships good. Arming a mobile Convention Hall is good for diplomacy, bad for actual combat.
