Ok the last good Live Action shows were Drake and Josh Big Time Rush ICarly Victorious Sam and Cat. Those were the last good shows that were not cartoons This is a later edit: Thundermans was alright fell off a bit towards the end, Henry Danger was good in the beginning and then it severely fell off like half way through.

Disney would had never get what they are now if they only relay on Micky Mouse, Nick doesn't get it.

There were some pretty successful shows in the early 2000s such as Drake and Josh, iCarly, Zoey 101, Jimmy Neutron, Fairy Odd, Danny Phantom, Invader Zim, Avatar, etc. that I wish you touched base on but I agree they screwed up by focusing solely on Spongebob. As I grew up in elementary school, I noticed nick would place these great shows on their two other channels; Nicktoons and Teennick. Just a thought for the start of Nickelodeon’s continuous demise. Let’s just hope that Paramount+ streaming service will make more Avatar content that we all need and want so badly.

If you look at the schedule for Nickelodeon it’s just spongebob reruns until the clock hits 10, then it’s just fresh prince reruns. They just stay afloat off of their old series at this point

Danny Phantom, Spongebob, and Fairly Odd Parents were big parts of my childhood, so I appreciate you not showing them hate. The problem with Spongebob wasn't that it was a bad show, it was that it was so good it overshadowed everything else on Nick, and I like that you went that route instead of just saying "Spongebob SUCKS". I got mad respect for this channel, now I'm subbed.

They also cancelled a Helga show, a spin off of 'Hey! Arnold', where the Helga show would focus more on Helga's life, maybe even a character development. But Nick turned it down because they thought it was too dark for kids. 'Too dark for kids'? Children these days have access to the Internet at a very young age of around 6 years old, and there are some fucked up things in the Internet like DHMIS and Salad Fingers. Many of us have seen thos series and we turned out just fine.

Spongebob has the same problem that other popular shows- like the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park- all have: they've worn out their welcome and it's time for them to go into the long goodnight of syndication and reruns, but the studios that make the shows and the channels that run them are still addicted to the numbers they bring in on viewers for even absolutely shit episodes, and they just keep beating a dead horse until there's nothing left but mush because they're afraid of what they might have to pull out to replace it. Saber said it best- Spongebob is a once-in-a-generation type of thing, and Nick will ride that wrinkled yellow body square into the ground until it's just absolutely not profitable any more, because it prevents them from having to replace it. Over the last few decades, Nick has lost all the imagination it once had- you had stuff like game shows- Wild and Crazy Kids, two versions of Double Dare, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nick Arcade, Make the Grade, that picture one, GUTS... it was really all about imagination- and they had cartoons out the wazoo, too- Looney Tunes, Rugrats, Doug, all the Nicktoons. I think the decline really started when they started picking up stuff like Ren and Stimpy and went full bore on the two big S's- Spongebob and Stupidity. They banked more on stupid grossout humor and years of Spongebob reruns than actual quality shows. I mean, they got hold of Power Rangers- one of the absolute blockbuster kids franchises- and damn near rode it into the ground with all kinds of stupid, stupid rules on season length. If you let a season of PR tell a story, with lots of time to let things develop, it is one of the best damn things in children's television. When you shove it into a 30 or 40 episode season- split into two chunks of 20- it's going to be absolutely shit because you don't have time to develop the characters beyond a few simple things and you're more concerned with pushing toys and shit instead of making solid TV. They even fucked up Avatar- they should still be running reruns of it on Nick sometimes, but that would get in the way of all the stupid grossout humor, stupid live-action stuff, and ten hours of Spongebob a day they run. And they stuck a knife in Korra's back and shoved her into a closet to make room for more stupid shit. Korra was the easiest fucking money they passed up- before fucking up with Adventure Time.

Spongebob was hilarious until Stephen Hillenburg left. After that, Spongebob became more obnoxious and just annoying, Patrick became so stupid that it wasn't even funny anymore, and Mr. Krabs just got ridiculously greedy. Overall they took all of the character's funny qualities and just exaggerated the hell out of them to the point of where they lost all comedic value.

What ruined nickelodeon is all the real life shows they started to air. No cartoons made me not watch it anymore.

The early seasons of Spongebob were golden...But yeah, after a while they just focused TOO MUCH on that show to it's detriment. Same happened to Fairly Oddparents in a way with early seasons being amazingly good and later ones...Well yeah, you know where this is going.

The early 2000s is underrated imo. 2000-2004 was a great era for cartoons, music and movies. 2005-2008 wasn't that bad either. I hope 00s nostalgia becomes big this decade.

Here's a lesson people, changing things is not always good. Its only good when it brings good results. We have seen this time and time again. TV networks, movie franchises, or entertainment industries in general, every time they stray away from what made them great in the first place, that is when they fall, all because they think it's time to change things up. NO! Don't try to fix something that isn't broken, that's how you break it!

A very big factor that you forgot to mention are the hundreds of horribly produced, cheesy teen sitcoms. Those are probably one of the biggest set backs to the network. After the huge success of iCarly, Victorious, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101 and a few more came to an end, they(*COUGH* Dan Schneider*COUGH*)became incredibly lazy in putting effort into another show after he realized all of his best sellers were all grown up. If you look at the Nickelodeon channel today, you'll notice that the same person is acting in about 3 different shows with completely ridiculous plots and story lines. The child actors are getting younger by the year too. Some main characters being younger than 9. Obviously it is a kids television network so having young actors is relevant, but why call it a "relatable teenage sitcom" When the actor hasnt even hit puberty yet?

I just saw Avatar for the first time on Netflix. AMAZING series. I think it's best it only had three seasons and nobody regards the other content. But the prospect of a live action retelling with the original writers is really interesting.

Tbh, it’s not entirely spongebob’s fault, it’s kinda nicks fault. Spongebob didn’t ruin nick. It’s more like the other way around. They ruined spongebob with season 6-9, when Stephen Hillinburg tragically died, they betrayed his respects and started working on the spin off, Kamp koral (also thinking of making a squidward spinoff) So saberspark is half right, spongebob did kind of ruined nick, but it’s still nicks fault for over using it. It’s until the point where our favorite childhood yellow sponge well... gets old.

As far as I'm concerned, Nickelodeon stopped being of interest when they canceled Danny Phantom, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Jimmy Neutron, Invader Zim, and As Told By Ginger. I had a renewed interest in the network when Avatar aired and showed, but it's never returned to what it was after that show ended.

Let’s face it Nickelodeon keeps on doing this, they will not make it as a network. Spongebob and Loud House is not going to last forever, their other shows are trash, and they become too lazy to write and keep a good show. At some point they may end up being bought by Disney or Netflix.

The mishandling of Korra is just fucking tragic. I give that show so much slack because I know what it could have, SHOULD have been, if not for Nickelodeon fucking things up. They should have funded a full 4 seasons from the start, but they had no faith in one of their most revolutionary and successful franchises. And then they didn't even air the last season on TV. It just infuriates me so much to see a network absolutely fail at what would have been an easy success.

Same old story. When you find a cash cow, you milk it for all it is worth. SpongeBob for Nick is that cash cow, and they are milking the final dregs of that now. Problem is, they don’t have a replacement cow, they sat on their butts too long, and any new cartoon they develop will have a hard time living up to SpongeBob. When they do find a replacement, it’s got to be something so good, it’ll have to turn heads. But those cartoons are so few and far between. This is four years on from this posting, and nothing has changed yet, that’s how stuck in the mud they are. They’ve gone through a good amount of cartoons, and none of those have even touched SpongeBob’s success. Nickelodeon has a big problem.

One of the biggest things that absolutely killed Nick is Henry Danger ending which was the most OG sitcom in Nick history

The cancelling in the western animation is what annoys me the most , I watch a show anticipated for its end and then boom it canceled, like WTF that never happened with anime even if they are losing money

I really don’t understand what’s wrong with just broadcasting reruns of the good shows if they have no ideas left, it’s not like kids are going to be kids forever, or that kids are ever going to stop being created.

Actually, it was Phineas an Ferb who started the cartoons revival (no kidding!)...Dan and Swampy originally, presented their pitch to both Nick and CN, from around the same time Adventure Time was presented to Nick; Disney was the ony one who ageed into turning P&F into a show...and the AT crew saw it (in part) as a follow suit after Nick denied to produce their show, so they presented it to CN and they were like "okay".

I feel like The Loud House is gonna be the next Spongebob. A great show but gets milked for years.
