Yes you can. Typically the body and hair are cleansed and disinfected during or after the embalming process. The integrity of the hair may feel different because they normally don't use professional salon shampoos and conditioners. The hair can be colored but process time will take longer due to the cold temperature of the room. I typically use spray color or Fanciful. The hair can also be cut as well. If your mom is dressed and casketed just ask for materials to protect her clothing and casket dressings. Sending condolences to you and your family 💜

Thank you for responding so soon. My mother was embalmed but will finally be laid to rest in a couple of weeks. I hope her physical body is holding up. It will have been a little less than 2 months.

It’s my Honor. It should be ok, your mother’s skin may be firmer since it’s been almost two months, so I would take a spray moisturizer just in case her skin is dry. Hopefully you will be assisted by a professional to guide you. Regular cosmetics may not sit on the skin as well so I would recommend using the mortuary makeup or a concealer base that’s cream form or any makeup with heavy moisturizers.

It would be a more natural look, a foundation that matches your complexion, with lip color. If applied correctly it shouldn’t look like you have much makeup on at all.

I went to Cosmetology school. 9-15 months depending on the scheduled classes offered or the school.
