You made this video very fun, realistic, honest and relatable. I have a relative who was hired to drive a hearse in the early 90's: they made him get three suits in different colors. He was cool with the gig, until he had to go to the funeral home one night...............alone! He went in the prop room, the body was sitting up (either from gas trapped inside or being positioned for the casket), and he quit soon after. He never saw any embalming, but from other graphic videos I've watched on here, the trocar process is what seems to traumatize most people who are not in the industry. For me, I already have my burial plan in place and I want direct cremation. I know that many people need the final viewing as closure, but I don't like the whole embalming process and then rotting in the ground: that's money wasted to me. But I truly appreciate what you do, and how you take time to explain the process to families and people interested in the industry. We must all pass this way.
you are such a beautiful person, i wish i could hug you! i've always wanted to become a funeral director and sadly that did not happen, but i feel like a mortuary cosmetologist is a calling for me, thank you for sharing your story and being a voice for the dead <3

I just got asked to do my best friend and chosen sisters makeup - I don’t think I can comprehend how hard this is going to be. But I will try to take your advice and get through this for her
I am not good with makeup or hair but i always wanted to a mortician after my dad passed away cause i hate to see how they had him looking like stone you did an amazing job on your mother she look so at peace you have me the crouage to go forth being a morticain and to lrarn more about doing the make-up and again you did amazing
It is typically used for extreme discoloration. It is helpful to set the makeup after application to keep it from coming off and may require another application but I only use it when absolutely necessary.
Your videos has helped me as I prepare to my mom hair, I have so many feelings and emotions about actually doing her hair. I do have a question: how to do someone hair that has dreadlocks?

Hi! I’ve just really been enjoying your videos! You bring up such an important point about facial hair having certain significance. That’s where mindefullness you had mentioned comes into the picture. We truly don’t know if Grammas whiskers had emotional significance or Uncle so-and-so’s ear hair was something the kids in the family grew up giggling about affectionately. We have to completely suspend judgements and assumptions. Asking the family is key! I’ve had cases where I won’t get the facial hair confirmation I need until the day of a service. Shaving embalmed skin can be super tricky too! So what I started doing was using pure humectant (restorative) instead of shaving cream. It works great because it helps to lessen the potential for dehydration. Thanks again for another awesome video!
I’m so glad I found your channel! I’ve been a mortuary apprentice for a little over a year now. Hair and make-up are my biggest challenges but especially hair. The hardest cases (in terms of hair styling) are those that require curling and giving volume. I love your advice for starting at the back of the head when using a curling iron. I never thought of that and am totally gonna do that from now on because it makes complete sense! Luckily I haven’t burned anyone hair off yet! I’ve tried curling rolls (set over night) which worked pretty well but once I started styling they hair started to go flat on me again. Anyway, thanks for this channel. I’ll definitely be watching and rewatching!
