Anyone who recently went to college can guarantee you that women are way more likely to study in coffee shops, not exactly sure why. Yes, guys will try to follow women, but usually in the context of parties, meals, working out etc. When it comes to studying guys will usually stay in their room or work in the library or some other spot.
That's true, but it's also true that more women are in college than men and in the next generation the gap is going to get bigger. - % of adults 25-34 with a bachelor's degree -> 46% women, 36% men - % of bachelor's degrees -> 58% are women - % of master's degrees -> 63% are women The one caveat to the degree stats is that they are heavily concentrated in Health-related and Life science degrees and are the minority in math, physical sciences, engineering, and computer science for both bachelors and masters.
thats because they dont study, they pose to be intelligent but they are not. and the levels of dificulty of the material dropped a lot. The only issue is that they are being systematically favored, they get grands andthey get pushed ahead because it looks good in the statistics. Nobody cares about the men. Its all about grants and money.@@chucksneedmoreland
I did Games Programming at University and there was literally zero women in my course. There were 3 or 4 on the Games Art course and that was it If I had to guess there were probably 150 people total between programming and art, and only 4 of them were women, it was insane Luckily my housemate was in a relationship with a woman doing a children's education degree, which was 99% female with literally 1 man on their course. So that is how I met most of the women that I did at University
I don’t always agree with John but I love hearing his takes. He’s an incisive critic of mainstream culture, and you can tell that it’s because he’s genuinely concerned about the health and direction of our society.
As it should be by Natural Law, Men deal with things and builds/tinkering stuff and women taking care of kids in school or patients in a hospital. This is Natural Order, There maybe some Men here and Women there but this is the general formula of natural law.
It's better in AI or theoretical computer science. When there is a lot of math, thats when you get closer to a 1/3 to 1/2 female/male ratio. I really dont know why.
they dont need to study, the whole student body consists of dumb hoes who dont study, as long as you are one of those - the sucess quotas need to look good on paper - youl pass even if you failed...
I went to trade school and even that was mostly women. I was taking a network admin course and it was the only class that really had men in it at all. The logistics class was literally 100% women.
Whatever you're talking about is not trade school lmao. Currently doing an electrical course in college and there's no women in a class of 30. And statistics say electricians, plumbers, etc are 98% men.
Idk if you remember far enough back but the feminists had a big public campaign saying it was unfair that men have 2/3 of the university positions and that we need to artificially bias the scores to correct it. This was legislation they somehow got passed, though at the time they made it sound like it was going to guarentee a 50/50 intake. Afterwards they were criticised that they actually reversed the imbalance and they made up some shit about "it balances out the sexes in today's male dominated workplace" and have gone totally radio silent about it ever since. I've heard people recommend that any guy wanting to get into college should put down "female" on their documents, which makes me wonder how many biological males are on that chart.
Boring cringe. I hate feminists but I hate people who complain about things like this more. I mean critically look at what you just typed out. Pointless jargon.
Hard to tell without looking at the breakdown, but tempted to think that if you do, you'd find a really high influx of women into "new courses" that were non existent, a sharp increase of % of women in the "soft sciences" and a moderate-high increase in women % in the "hard sciences". Which leads to the current HR imbroglio where they have to pay attention to what degree you have not just that you have one, because many times it's not worth the paper it was printed on...
Im a dude currently in college atm, and the interesting thing that both: 1. The ratio of women/men in uni does lean more towards women, but when on campus it is not drastic 2. Of the relatively large group of women and men that I know, women are much, much more likely to study for things like exams than the guys are. I have found many girls that I know I would describe as hard working, where most of the guys I know are not
The reason is the universities and colleges are structured in a way to completely favors the way girls do work and study. The atmosphere and events are also catered to them, mostly.
I disagree when he says that people don't care or seem to think it's a problem. I was watching CBS Sunday Morning a couple of weeks back, and they brought up the fact that that the proportion of women to men in university in the US is something like 54% to 46%, which they found troubling. That segment is actually worth a watch because I think they bring up some fair points on how men and women are raised differently. People fail to actively encourage their sons into anything, expecting them to chart their own course. Meanwhile, they tend to actively push their daughters into a "safe" route (in previous times that was marriage, but now that is college). Of course the problem most likely goes deeper than just "nurture", but I think it plays an important role
oooooooohhhh safety makes so much sense. Women tend to go for safer bets, and at least when it comes to the US, college used to be a safe bet. That is, until everyone started studying pointless stuff. As for men, I think we've essentially emasculated them as of recent years. We can't expect them to have the same drive to succeed they once used to.
What I find the most infuriating is that most people think just telling men to "be better" is a perfectly viable solution that doesn't require any further depth or analysis. Ironically the same people will throw umbrage at the statement "be a man/man up". Both the former and latter statements mean the exact same thing which is that men are just expected to deal with their own problems and uplift themselves without any help. And this whole phenomenon shouldn't come as a surprise either; if you're going to praise and uplift one gender for 2 decades and constantly demonize the other, then of course they are going to feel awful and give up. It's frustrating how people seem to think men just need to be more emotionally open, when at the same time they are barely willing to provide any emotional support themselves. Masculine figures do wonders for the mental health of aspiring young men, yet every day they are being replaced with "strong women", so of course men are going to feel aimless and hopeless. I think people becoming more aware that men need help is a good sign, however too often have I heard the phrase "Yes but it shouldn't come as the expense of female rights". This shouldn't even be a concern, helping men isn't going to instantly cast women back into the kitchen, it isn't going to erode laws protecting women. There is a very real fear that uplifting men will somehow prevent women from succeeding. It shouldn't be that way. Men and women shouldn't have to compete with one another, we should be helping each other equally.
meanwhile every other other issue requires careful examination and criticism of 'systems' Feminists think it's cool not to consider/be inconsiderate towards the experiences of men now. Any possible insecurity on the part of men is mocked, any possible insecurity on the part of women is accommodated.
University is largely a waste of time other than the fact companies want to see that degree. I've seen people graduate with a degree in computer science and couldn't even write a function to print the fibonacci sequence but they'll get hired at least temporarily jumping from job to job on that degree. Hopefully eventually learning something....
The reason more women are going to college than men is because men have already been through it. We have plenty of examples of men who went to college and it only made their lives marginally better. Women are still new to being educated. They'll learn in 15 years.
Just leaving this here in hope this channels owner will read it: Every video posted on this channel is way to quiet. This video has to be played on 300% volume to be the same volume as most other videos on youtube.
I have actually been kinda OCD about the volume levels in my videos. I always up the volume quite a bit when I'm editing. I have tried to compare my volume levels to other RU-vid channels to see if my audio is okay. There is some variation between different channels, and I thought that my volume levels were within that variation. But I have still been kinda unsure if I should make my videos even louder. One potential problem is that it's going to make the volume levels from one of my videos to the next more inconsistent. I could make a poll but considering that I don't remember receiving other complaints about my audio, maybe it's fine. Maybe I'll make a poll. Yeah.
Dude i just had a group project and our group was lacking 24/7 , i literally did the whole project in like 2 days and even recorded the whole thing and explained it in every detail. Yet they wanted me to teach them the whole thing in a coffee shop like why , And the problem was that i had to go there like 5 times in a single week but they could have just watched the video and be done in an hour or two out of my own interest i also finished the other projects for other groups and again recorded the whole thing , but guess what , they still asked me about the projects 24/7 in college , like just watch the video and if you dont understand something im glad to help. I wrote all this just to tell yall how lazy most people are in college , and no im not an anti social person , i enjoyed every moment in that coffee shop. ( I just didn't get why not watch the video , and if you just want to have conversation and meet new people it could definitely be done in a better way , just invite everyone on the group and go out , done)
That's interesting. Let me guess, where the other group's components girls? Because if they were, this just proves some of the other's comments points. The girls needs the social interaction, while that might not be true for boys.
@@Ckombactman 2 girls , but im not gonna pretend like other boys weren't asking for a meeting in a coffee shop , they did too. I was also a fan of meeting others too , but my point is that it could have been done better , like just casually inviting others for a meeting or literally anything , then anyone who is really interested would show up.
Here in the Netherlands engineering is still 80-90% male. Even in IT, where you don’t wrangle hot and nail breaking heavy equipment women aren’t as prevalent as men. At the PABO (school for becoming a primary school teacher) and psychology and nursing school it’s literally the opposite.
Jonathan Blow speaks of a different fear of women. One is the fear of rejection and awkwardness, the other is being afraid of ruining your life because you get noticed by one with a screw loose.
Where is the evidence that men are now being frequently retaliated against for asking out women? Sounds like a cope to internally legitimize the same underlying fear of rejection that has always existed. When you are scared of something, you invent more reasons for why not to do it without questioning, and internet circlejerks now collectively reenforce these ideas and a create a skewed version of reality.

Well now I need an hour talk of Jon talking about ramping up his PUA skills.
Nicholas Eberstadt "Men Without Work" is a must-read on this topic. The numbers are staggering. Men are *not* doing anything, they have given up. Society as nothing for them. It should also be noted that women, for various reasons, like to perform things in social settings. Though he's right that the college guys go where the college girls are but I'd say most guys are socially detuned and absolutely do not know how to handle girls, let alone go out to study with them.
When I studied software engineering about 15 years ago in Vienna there where about 15% to 20% women. Don't know how it's now. But there could definitely have been much more women.
In the information age I wonder why this would be a problem. It looks to me like people have become more independent again, much like scholars before the industrialization. It doesn't require a university. Once it becomes an actual problem all they have to do is lower the (completely unjustified) cost.
My wife does have degree, me not. As a dropped out I earn more she will ever can. One reason is pregnancy and the all around the kids, and second is the desire to go for it. Third is the field we chose, me IT, she economics and management. It's me, who manages people at work 😅 even tho just a two and I suck at it.
A major reason for this growing disparity is that higher education - and most other institutions, if we’re being honest - primarily selects for conscientiousness while discouraging individualism and eccentricity, and males are more likely to fit into places that prioritize the latter. Most men don’t want to simply grind homework and exams and standardized tests for years just to get a certificate. Where’s the adventure and curiosity?
Here in sweden I studied game programming a few years ago and out of 90+ students only 1 was female. However in all other fields in the same industry it was mostly female
he isnt talking about the courses in game programming, merely that coffee shop changed with the amount of women in the universities as a whole. Also that women dont have partners, before the guys who were in that coffee shop were with a gal. because most men hate pretentious coffee shops serving overly expensiive coffee. They got better shit to do than sit in a coffee shop.. unless they are trying to court a lady... Dating is fucked in america...
Lots of people are already saying this in the comments, but guys go to coffee shops way less often than girls. Whether it's for studying or not, on the whole girls just like coffee shops more than guys (generally speaking)
I think that mostly has to do with the fact that its most likely for a woman to go study at a coffee shop, most men probably study at their home, again its all anecdotal evidence and not real statistics.
also it very much depends on what university and major we're talking about. For example at my university(Comp. Sci.) its legitimately 8 men for every 2 women MAYBE if even that.
WTF, why is it bad and why should one care? Were you as concerned when women were minority in colleges. Are you concerned that even now women are a minority in CS?
@@rusi6219 when did I claim anyone pays off men's student loans? I'm asking you to provide your data/citations/sources that demonstrate how women can just choose to have all their student loans paid by a man, like you claimed. The burden of proof is on you, not me. Nice try though.
Well, good luck to them. If they're willing to be part of a harem of an infinitesimal minority of ultra-attractive, ultra-wealthy men, I wouldn't want anything to do with them anyway.
And yet nobody is playing the quotum , equality of outcome and positive discrimination cards here. I guess those are only used when it is in your favor…
I don't quite get Jons point, why does he think there's such a disparity (in the US anyways, my own country Ireland is basically 50:50), and also is it a bad thing? Trades are mostly men and have a shortage of workers, people can make really good salaries in those jobs too. While I do have problems with education and especially how universities operate, I've found that they're mainly issues that affect all genders equally
I'm a huge Jonathan fan, but his bad math infuriated me... he sees "60%-40%" and calls it "3 to 1", then notices his mistake and calls it "close to 2 to 1" :( It's 3 to 2 dude...
It's insane to me that Blow didn't reach this realization on his own. This was my immediate reaction, then I looked it up and found the same thing. Dude is so pretentious
@@b_traven He often suffers from the appeal from authority fallacy. He is obviously very knowledgeable and intelligent when it comes to games and programming. The problem is that he then extends that attitude into areas that he doesn't actually research or fully understand Taking sociological advice from a programmer would be like taking programming advice from a sociologist. It makes no sense
There are definitely more women than men in college. Now my question is, how many of those women study something that is actually useful to keep civilization functioning and progressing?
It’s a good thing because more young men realise there is much more security in trades. No student loans and easy and quick access to living vages. Besides it’s way healthier to do meaningful physical labour. I think we would do much better if normalised taking a higher education later in life.
The statistics clearly show women excel in pretty much every stage of education better than men. Looking at gender ratios in Australia, where I'm from, the average gender ratio of a university student body is 55% women, with a range from 45% to 75%. That said, as other comments have noted, the University of Boulder's gender ratio is publicly available to look up, and it's 45% women. For whatever reason, more women are in coffee shops studying than men. This is one of those Blow takes to raise an eyebrow at, I think.
Women excel because college is fake. It’s why dems push so hard to forgive debt. Because all their drones are 200k in debt and don’t know anything. They don’t know business law. They don’t know accounting. They don’t know how to operate in the world and completely enslaved. Congrats for excelling in that environment?
@@utbunny That's absolutely true, and 100% the right way to be interpreting the clip. It's just that people who take Blow very seriously (and possibly Blow himself) might try and use stuff like this to form opinions about the world and patterns within it, which can be dangerous, especially when those are opinions about women in education (and particularly when your job is software). More than anything, seems like a weird clip out of hundreds to take from his streams and put on RU-vid. Feels like it's erring on clickbait at best and furthering a questionable agenda at worst. Could also be benign behaviour from Blow and BlowFan though. Just thought the facts were worth stating for those who didn't know.
Total enrollment flip-flops between 55/45 and 46/54 male/female for 2022-2023 according to their report: www.cu.edu/system/files/pages/81280-reports-policy-briefs/docs/2022-23-cu-diversity-report-final.pdf Although, there's a lot of statistics in this report that show the medical college skew crazy to the female side. Interesting overall.
He got it wrong because he thought young college males study and go after girls instead of playing league 10 hours a day tbf he was correct about the overall data though, UC is just an outlier
Wouldn't it make sense that women cannot (and most certainly don't want to) take physical jobs so they are more likely to shoot for mental ones? Women are also better supported by their family whereas men have it "more difficult" as many say, so they are more likely to go for potential lifelong debt? And, where are the testosterone-taking people now? Wouldn't it make sense that women would have less of a short temper? Ever heard someone with testosterone blockers say their story? Ask yourself some questions, analyze and be curious. Everything makes sense, if you know where to look. Not mentioning even one of these things is a red flag.
This is anecdotal but ALL the females ive known throughout life have either attended or are currently attending college. In my college classes, it is usually a minimum 60% female majority unless its compsci or hardcore math related
Women are massively outperforming men in education. It's to the point where we need to start seriously looking at wtf is going on and start fixing it. We have largely removed the barriers for women in the market, to the point where we have probably over corrected and now we are seeing men get left in the dust. Very concerning.
At my university the situation is literally the opposite. The guys/girls ratio is something like 80/20. Over the 4 years of study in my group (from 10 to 15 people at different times) there were no more than 2 girls. So this sounds like something usa-specific.
04:14, completely ridiculous conclusion only based on some higher education stats, that somehow magically result in women being the ones that now rule the world. LOL. But also why does he feel then bad for dudes - they literally have more girlfriend options and opportunities now - and they are a scarcity now, meaning on average more girls will show them interest.
How is saying he "feels bad for the kids in school" a incel take??? Aslo please learn what the word incel actually means and stop acting like a Twitter finger doofus.
Heres what you do. Many of you dont have this luxury but some of you do, - live like a poor person and milk your parents for a roof over your head and a meal a day. You do some sort of a job, a side hustle, a half time work anything like that that allows you for some income but doesnt occupy all your time and energy. And with that set you invest all time and savings into making yourself financially sucessful. Your parents will help you out if they see you are building a business. Dont let yourself be mired by the poor mindset. You are not actually poor, you are running LEAN so you can later make ten, twenty times more than what others make and you will. Dont stay away from blue collar work, your business doesnt have to be about videogames or coding a new app for the banks. You might need to write something to callibrate machinery or use your fascination with machines not as a programmer. The overton window has moved and now many businesses that were previously technologically backwards are now where computers were 10-20 years ago. Your fascination with technology doesnt have to be limited to computers too. This system will try to fuck you in your education so you become a wageslave in your adult life. DONT. Become your own boss. If you work on building a business your parents will help you any way they can.
its spretty gay to sit in coffee shops for a dude. Normally dudes go there with a woman. Now women have an idea of a young milionaire as a partner and the dudes are struggling so hard to stay afloat the discrepency of expectations vs reality leaves most women without a dude in that coffee shop...
