I used to do something similar. Purchased a Tango 2 for this very reason - I’d leave for work half hour early and find a nearby park and rip some quick packs before work. Great way to start the day!

I have a 4" toothpick style Walksnail quad I built on the Hyperlite UL5 frame. powered by 4S it gets nearly 10 minutes of fun park rippage. Probably has become one of my favorite quads because It's so easy to get around with. I too travel for work so this is much easier to keep with me and I can charge in the car super fast since I'm running 750mah 4S packs :) Oh, and All up weight with battery is 239g

Yeah that’s an absolutely solid build. You just have to get out and fly, that’s the trick.

Great idea - My 5 inch mostly hangs on the wall and i'm flying my 3.5 inch in the local parks. GepRc Smart 35 is a good choice.

Exactly! So hard or so far to travel to find a great 5" place to fly without a lot of people and NO KARENS! 3.5" is the answer! I have a cruiser and a 3.5" ultralight Toothpick RIPPER! DAMN IS IT FAST! Because they're both a fraction as noisy as a 5" they can be flown even at the smallest parks in my neighborhood. Best of all, those small parks are awesome to fly at! 3- 5 minutes away and way, Way better than the 5" spot 30+ minutes away. And, we're not talking open fields at schools, which aren't fun at all. We're talking parks with loads of trees to weave through a different route every flight! 👍 5" is way over hyped! I also have 2" and 2.5" DJI digital too, which the 3.5" also are. Micros for the win! 😎🤘

last week I was on my way home from work in bad traffic and decided to get off the highway and send 2 of my left over packs that were still charged from the weekend which was great. maybe ill have to put one of these grab bags together to enable more of these moments

Exactly. What’s not to say you don’t stop off from work and put some packs in on the daily. Or go to work a little earlier, grab some packs at lunch

Good advice. After my last holiday, I'm planing on building a 4" foldable O3 long range quad with a similar travel bag. Hiking up the mountains is my passion and often I have to leave my 7" backpack at home. Too heavy and not sure if I will get to fly anyway. I'm wondering why the latest fpv related videos are going back to 3", after the 3.5" trend took off three years ago. 4" is my favourite, but there are very little 2005 size motors with 2000~2200kv motors out there for 6S. 3" spin faster and just scream on power setups. Thats why I like bigger props. Also sub250g is nice if you really scared about getting into trouble. Personally I'm at ~300g AUW on my 4" and just like it without having to trade off in power and prop size. From my experience the people mostly care if it's loud and intimidating. It doesnt help much if you have a sub250g quad and have to argue with people it's sub250g and allowed. Not that I'm going to fly in crowded places anyway. Unfortunatly it's hard to find a place to fly with nobody around

I much prefer 3.5” over 3” and have two upcoming 3.5” videos for it. I’ve asked Quadmula to make 4” arms for the Siren F3 so we can use 3.5” or 4” props on it. 4” with 2004/2005 is pretty good.

Love that idea. I mostly keep my packs charged for 1 to 3 days if i know i need or be able to sneak some packs in. Lately i moved from 5 inch to my tiny whoop. I keep everything in a little box, batteries are charged in a few minutes or have to suffer fully loaded, but it is so easy to just fly anywhere.
@DarrenAllatt
@DarrenAllatt 11 месяцев назад
I wouldn’t keep lipo fully charged for more than 24 hours. You will kill them very quickly and they’re expensive to replace. You are best to get a Li-Ion field pack to charge them up when needed

Seems like we all suffer from the same source: Money is no issue, but time. My siren f3s is also ready, I do still prefer my 5 inch. My battieries are starting ache me, the moment they are fully loaded. Its a fucking mental thing with those battery packs. I keep every thing ready to fly in my camera bag except the lipos. I am so careful with my lipos. I do charge six of them an hour before I plan to enjoy some air time, run those 1400mah down 800mah and balance them to exactly storage capacity right after getting home. This battery thing is driving me metally nuts. I dont wanna hurt those packs more than I need to. ...on the other hand, I know they will degrade over time anyways. I hate lipos. They are stressing me. Thanks for your inspirational videos.

Love your Video - We have to play to out addiction. My Sneaky Plan, is a little different - I know its not 5inch I have been watching IGOW (International Game Of Whoop) I am getting into whoops and watching what people are doing with whoops - Power Loops, Building Dives, Split S, Gaping and other crazy fun things. I got myself a 2S Betafpv Meteor85 Walksail edition (one of Cheapest HD Drone out there) Being 2S it flys good, gives 3 to 6 minutes flight and it packs up small, 2S batteries are simple and cheap. For charger I got “HGLRC Thor 4Way 1-2S Charger” charges 4 batteries a once via balance leads - just like charging 1s batteries Grab a fist full of batteries - 2S HD Whoop == Fun Fun, anywhere, anytime, and the video recorded on the VTX pretty good as well Try out some of the newer 2S stuff from Happymodel, or BetaFPV or the 1S stuff from sub250 and be surprised.

Amazing video. What backpack do run for FPV/Camera Gear?
@DarrenAllatt
@DarrenAllatt 11 месяцев назад
Pgytech OneMo2. It doesn’t have straps on the front for mounting your quads so I’m just using elastic cord I’ve put on the loops. It’s a smaller size (25L) than FPV backpacks but it holds more gear than my iFlight backpack
@ilikebananasFPV
@ilikebananasFPV 11 месяцев назад
nice video! could you maybe do a video how to make such a charging pack?`seems a bit dodgy tbh - or is it that simple? solder 6 packs together, add xt60, wrap it in tape - done?
@DarrenAllatt
@DarrenAllatt 11 месяцев назад
You’ve got to wire them in parallel. It was a ball ache and not something I’d recommend. Cost $120 AUD to make, took 1.5 hours.it’s only 3,500mah. ZOHD make a 6S 4,000mah Li-Ion pack which I would have got for $162 AUD and saved myself the hassle.

I was super frustrated today on my day off in southern california looking for a place to fly where i wouldn't be bothered and wouldn't be bothering anyone
@DarrenAllatt

Sometimes you need to just hunt on google maps and then have a dedicated day of scouting
@ghostyFPV
@ghostyFPV 11 месяцев назад
@@DarrenAllatt that's super solid advice -- I did just a little of that last night. Of the places I marked the two I decided to drive to today were unfit: the first was too crowded, and the second was a massive park (may or may not have been chino hills state park) which I needed to explore first, but was running out of daylight. The scouting part of the hobby is a big aspect of it that I'm just coming to understand. Ended up settling for old reliable because at that point I just wanted stick time

Do you think 1404 will be better for 3" than 1604? SAme thing about 3.5" 1604 or 1804
@DarrenAllatt
@DarrenAllatt 11 месяцев назад
For 3.5” I really like 1804, but if you are needing to save weight for the arbitrary 250g limit and your build you be over with 1804’s then sure, go for 1604s Similar principle for 3” with 1604’s down to 1404. But, I’ve had 1404 on 3” and 3.5”, but 1604’s on 3” feel just right. Removes some of the floatyness that they can have

So you can keep LiOn packs fully charged with no degradation? And what settings on a charger do you use to not damage them?
@Alf-Dee
@Alf-Dee 11 месяцев назад
I was going to ask exactly the same!
@barneyfromblueshift
@barneyfromblueshift 11 месяцев назад
LiOns are no more resistant to these damages than LiPos are. With that said, I invite you to look up how much damage leaving a battery fully stored does. It is a few percent a year in losses. If I had big, expensive, long lasting batteries, I wouldn't do this. But with my $24 2S2P Lion packs? Who cares if I replace them every other year.
@DarrenAllatt
@DarrenAllatt 11 месяцев назад
Yes, and I do this with my LiPo field pack as well which is a 14,000mah Lipo. As Fortune Cookie said, degradation is minimal over the year, and it’s a cheap battery to replace. Better to replace a cheap li-ion pack once a year than 6 Lipos once every 2 months
