Its a myth made up by a couple of Dermatologists who wanted to get rid of sunbed. They made the claim after they heard about nail lamps and assumed that gel lamps emitt the same exact UV strength and thought that clients sit under the lamps the same length of time as sunbeds!! They wanted to get famous and didn't do their research before publishing their paper. No, gel nail lamps are much weaker sunbeds or the mid day summer sun and people are only under them for a few minutes every 2 - 3 weeks. I saw somewhere that most lamps are 1/7 - 1/40 of the noon day summer sun, so that would be like early morning sunrise or late evening sunset strength. The dermatologists that reviewed the flawed paper said that one of the 2 case studies only had 8 gel manicures prior to her getting skin cancer. They said it was caused by her DECADES of sun damage accumulated on her hands going walking or gardening during the hot strong UV midday sun several times a week for 40 years without using sunblock. Not the 16 minutes of extremely weak uv gel lamp exposure. Another client who got skin cancer used sunbeds for decades.

Good question. I have learned in my experience and testing that pure alcohol sounds good but how pure is it really? I have tested isopropyl alcohol that has been claimed as being 100% but there have been a few occasions where the claim was not true. Performing the test is simple and you can verify the claim made by the supplier.

Hi Shygirl1321 - a mixture of isopropanol and acetone is fine - try to locate 99% IPA and mix it with acetone in the following percentage - 95% IPA 5% acetone. The high concentration of acetone may be the issue with your Super Shiny not having a good gloss. The other possibility is that the cure of the Super Shiny might not be correct. What curing light are you using and how long are you curing the Super Shiny for?

@@jimmcconnell6079 LE dot and I’ve tried 60 seconds and 30 seconds. I did find 99% IPA so I will make a new cleanser 🤞🏽
