There are people who think Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful ever. To me she was overrated. Imo Maureen was more beautiful than her. There were others who imo were more beautiful than ET. Maureen was as you said stunning.
Very self-assured. She did a number of swash-buckling films early on and did most of her own stunts, a practice that she continued. Most people remember the horseplay in McClintock and The Quiet Man. She broke her hand in The Quiet Man.
@@karenbarlow-goodsell8483 @Karen Barlow-Goodsell Maureen O'Hara passed away in 2015 at 95. She did not appear in Gone With The Wind. You are thinking of Olivia deHavilland.
Just checked on Wiki...Ike toured India in 1959...so she was already as established star by then...such humility!! RIP Maureen...the most beautiful woman God created!!
Maureen O'Hara is one of my all-time favorite actresses. She is also the favorite actress of both of my children in their 30s. She has all generation appeal. We loved her in parent trap and we loved her in all of the John Wayne movies. Rest in peace. There will never be another like you.
There is an air of total kindness and consideration to all this series. Panelists, guests and the host are real human beings in the way they uphold themselves and the people around them. Long, long gone...By the way Maureen O'Hara is a beautiful lady and a class act.
When I saw Maureen O'Hara in the Parent Trap, I was entranced by her beauty and her smile. Such a stunning lady. I read her autobiography (Tis Herself) some years ago.
Yes she is a great actor as well as a kind Irish lass I watch all her movies and my two favourite ones are the John Wayne movie the quiet man and the western movies Maureen played in Bobby New Zealand
Arlene's comment TO Martin at 11:24 is awesome! What a quick-witted woman. If only this clip was in Technicolour for us to fully enjoy seeing queen Maureen!
Mrs. Williams the sardine lady had such a cool authentic Maine accent. She was pretty, too. (I wanted to say something other than how gorgeous Maureen O’Hara was since I think we covered that already.) And I just googled Hazel Williams, she was also a champion figure skater! They should have mentioned that on the show.
BOY! ..wouldnt you love to see that episode in COLOR....that gorgeous complexion...ohhh that red hair..and probably a green gown....simply BREATHTAKING.......STAR!!!
Maureen O'Hara was one of my favorite leading ladies to watch, she and John Wayne were the best loved their movies( all of them) The Quiet Man - is my absolute favorite
@@Celisar1 A film in which she lays him out with a whack up side the head? In which she tells off a sleazy, skirt-chasing territorial governor in no uncertain terms? Where grown men are afraid of her wrath, and even her husband is wary? Hardly meek and humiliated.
FYI Maureen is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, her husband was a highly decorated Brigadier General in the Army Air Corps, /Air force she is buried beside him.
My favorite scene was when she was getting married in ‘How green was my valley’...her wedding veil flowing around in the wind, it looked like it was dancing in the air.💕 Irish bride.
Ms. O'Hara's work with John Candy in Only the Lonely was never fully appreciated. She was the epitome of lady like grace. So grateful the USA can claim her too!
John Candy was able to draw out some Hollywood legends that had basically retired. See the exchange between O'Hara and Anthony Quinn in the film?? Obviously they had known each other for decades.
The 50s and 60s surely were not the most liberal decades but I´m always impressed by the kindness and good manners they were celebrating in this series.
@@merricat3025 Why ? I think it really started before, during the sixties, with the so called "liberation de la femme" as we say in French, the pill, the Catholic Church being reformed into protestantism, and so on...
You got that right. But I think its the most beautiful actress of all. Never was a Western fan, but like some of you I watched all of her Movies with John Wayne. She was gorgeous and had a heart and soul to match.
Loved Maureen O'Hara, my Irish mother looked and sounded very similar to her, so much so that John Wayne took photos with our entire family just so he could meet her in Destin FL 1967
I have really been enjoying these shows. The panel is gracious polite and not attention seekers. They are obviously friends. It is a fun show to watch. The celebrity guests are wonderful to see.
Oh Maureen! How can someone be so beautiful?! I found a new treatment for hypertension: Look at this video and Maureen O'Hara's gorgeous face. All stress goes away.
Smart? What indication do you have for that? And on „great“ actress I can only very much disagree. As children we always skipped her films since we already then noticed the difference between good and mediocre to bad actresses.
I've always liked her in all the movies I've seen her in, especially with John Wayne. I loved the way she introduced his character in Big Jake. She says: "It is I think going to be a very harsh and unpleasant kind of business and will I think require an extremely harsh and unpleasant kind of man to see to it." Scene changes to John Wayne sighting down a gun barrel...
Glenn Hoddle i feel that calling people of similar age „ma’am“ and „sir“ is exaggerated and a bit cringeworthy. But it’s a nice gesture when there is an age difference.
I never knew who Dorothy Kilgallen was. I watched the most interesting dedication to her. Ms. Kilgallen was a very astute and popular newspaper writer. I believe she was murdered as Marilyn Monroe was murdered.
She was writing an article about her interview with Jack Ruby and had told friends this was the biggest story of her life. She was murdered. The FBI came in and confiscated all of her notes and written material to cover up the assassination of President Kennedy. I wrote this: President Kennedy’s Assassination: Reporter Killed vidrebel.wordpress.com/2020/07/15/president-kennedys-assassination-reporter-killed/
@@merricat3025 Marilyn Monroe was murdered because she had an affair with JFK starting when she was flown back east to sing Happy Birthday, Mr President.
miss o'hara was the love of my life as a kid. she is so beautiful and talented. she is a Christian and i can't wait to meet her in heaven.....i thank GOD for her life and very blessed to have witnessed a small part of her life.......
Both may be true, Carol, but with her looks, talent, and personality, it seems she could have done so much better. (I realize looks aren't everything, but gee, come on now.)@@carolv8450
18:37 - *Mr. Gabel:* "Well, you said you weren't a blonde... can we take it for granted that you're a brunette?" *Maureen:* "No!" *Mrs. Francis:* _"It's Yul Brenner!"_ I think my vocal cords burst from the supersonic guffaw that this exchange caused.
Misleading O'Hara was born in Ireland and lived there for first 10 years of her life. I get that she took this up but was not the original question. Incredibly beautiful woman. Stunning!!
My favorite movies of hers we're anything with John Wayne. Also she was in one with John Candy- Only the Lonely. Also loved her in 'The Parent Trap'. My mom loved that one.
Nobody really answered your question. She clarified that she had been born in Ireland, but was then an American citizen, so her answer that she was an American was accurate. She wasn't asked where she was born...she was asked if she was an American.
Second contestant: WML's production staff had a genius for finding these pretty, articulate, and interest contestants doing the darnest things for a living. Her seamless plug for the Maine Sardine Industry has to be a classic moment. producer Gil Fate once wrote that some animals are always good for a laugh, and fish is one of them. Arlene's reaction [ 12:20 ] to the image of the contestant helping along fish reproduction is pretty funny.
I've always loved these shows but I didn't like the granting of "small conferences" to the panel and here's why. Everyone can hear the back and forth, and when one of the panelists mentions the correct occupation (or name if it's a mystery guest), one or two members of the audience will invariably clap. This gives it away and ruins the flow of questioning.
