The main goal for they team for me its not add more bugs and issue that we have already, because every time after their new stupid as usual future updates we have more problems that we have before, so if the autodesk team in 2025 max not broked old instrument its a big victory for me))

so, none of my 2024 plug-ins will work in this "new" 2025 just for a couple of insignificant changes... if you are making just this small update is ok, but let us keep using 2024 plug-ins with 2025 max

no!! Everyear there is SDK update... That this point update wasn't specially packed with new tools for artists doesn't mean the .1 .2 updates will be same... This has been a more for devs update seems. still the SDK update is necesary.

I can't understand Autodesk development policy. Since years, the whole community has been asking for different development plans. when to see Bifrost in Max, sculpting tools, motion design tools, better Ui arrangement, parametric modeling tools, why we have to wait for these, rather than finding a bettrer software ??? If you just look at the dislike button, you understand how much underwhelming this video is.

Wish they fused Maya, 3DS Max and maybe Mudbox's best features into one "new" standalone product, would gladly pay Indie price for it, I like Maya but wish it had non-destructive modelling features and other nice modeling tools 3ds Max has (I can't stand Max's UI)

@@grizzlybear1633 Fromsoftware and Rockstar North both use 3DS Max for core animation pipeline for Elden Ring/Grand Theft Auto etc. They have the most impressive animation tech wise in the games industry. I'm talking about real game animation, not just playback shit.

I'm myself a 3ds max user but this is disappointing to see 3ds max became wayyyy behind Maya and Blender. Everytime I see an update from 3ds max my expectations became higher but after seeing the videos I just get disappoint. Animation tools are very old and bug are everywhere. Autodesk should focus on 3ds max more. Its like a forgotten child of autodesk

Everywhere they are trying to promote Maya, trying to kill Max over the years, except most people who use Max hate Maya with passion and would rather switch to Blender. So we get these pointless "updates" that should be just minor feature updates but turned into major version revisions from a soulless company that is still trying to suck money from a dying product and userbase.

Yeah I've used it. I mainly would like the UVW editor integrated into the viewports rather than that clunky old floating window. Just look at the amount of powerful UV plugins for Blender, ZenUV and many more. 3DS Max is years behind and it looks like there's no future hope.@@chocopie099

need better crowd tools, scatter tools, native volume shading of VDB's and view port volumes, faster fluids, better animation tools, updated rigging, faster skinning and deformation tools etc...not just color updates... seems like this is an update to follow the version numbering sequence from 2024 to 2025

This update is as good as the mic the woman in the video was using in her bathroom. So no, I don't think many will be swithing to this version anytime soon. This is like Windows 11 of CAD.

Does anyone else remember a good number of years ago Autodesk teased a feature in Biped for secondary animation? (I think they called it inertia at the time) It showed some bipeds on moving platforms with their knees automatically bending as the platform lifted and dropped, along with other secondary animation examples. They said it was "coming soon". (I checked the archives and it's no longer there)

I remember that! Inertia Modifier. Looked fantastic, I would love to have that for Biped and bone based custom rigs. Let us hope it's still being worked on.

@@xyzzzz6984 No, they don't work on inertia, the only thing they work on is motion capture, and that's actually a script written by a person. You can see it from beta. They appear to have canceled out inertia. Even if they do, this may take up to 20 years. Of course, if there is a program called Max left in the meantime. AI will finish all this work anyway.

Max to become imbative should have: *A beautiful viewport, integrated with some material that can be used with native vray or corona. * Some tool for sculpt characters, similar to mudbox would be perfect. * Xgen in 3ds Max or as fast as possible. * New xrefs system, compared to Maya's reference editor, never works as it should in Max, exactly for pipeline with riggers and animations. Everything else about Max seems perfect to me, it is stable, I can manage large scenes in it, the interface is simple and effective, its modifier system for modeling is very robust and is one of the program's biggest differences. And several killer plugins it has, Autodesk should buy some of these plugins and including them would be a big leap too. I love 3ds max, for me as I'm also a Maya user, MAx is my favorite, but the competition as a blender is attracting a lot of attention, who knows if I learn it, maybe I'll never go back to Max... I still have hope that Max It will be impressive like years ago at its peak.

Agreed, a better display of materials and lighting directly in the viewport would be great. We can already achieve decent results especially when using native Arnold as a renderer in High Quality viewport mode, but GPU doesn't get used to support the calculations, which leads to sluggishness the larger a scene gets. The lack of reflections or fog are also an issue. It's a serious challenge for the engineers to be sure.

I been learning blender in my spare time, it has it's own issues that are driving me mad tbh, max is still solid for general modelling and my favourite for that. Just sort out the bloody uvs so it's not a mod pleeeeese

@@eggZ663 after using Maya I lost all interest in learning modeling in Blender, at least its sculpting features are a decent alternative to Zbrush, but still, the way Blender relies on paid add-ons, tons of shortcuts and jumping back and forth object/edit mode annoy me to no end.

When will you make the obvious upgrade to merge mudbox with 3ds max and Maya? Unnecessary small changes like this belong in 2009. You're being run out by blender and cinema 4d with better sculpting tools.

The reference system is one of the most important features that is missing in 3D Max. During animation, unnecessary characters and objects must be removed from the computer memory to increase the frame rate, and one of the advantages of reference files is that when saving the file, the scene is saved with a much smaller size. This is not possible in Max, but it is possible in Maya.

Sorry, but I'm not impressed or happy with these light updates especially when 2024.3 was skipped to get here. And no, I don't care how AD's Max team versions things internally. I'm charged **every year** for this and I didn't get the same amount of deliverables. I spent the same and got less; that's the bottom line I'm paying attention to. To be fair, there have been some very useful updates in the recent years. But this ain't it. Please, do better.

That is true. And Autodesk need to step up their game if they want it to stay that way. In VFX, Houdini reigns. Elsewhere, Blender is getting more popular, despite being less mature.

Yeah nothing really exciting for me in 2025 but I forgive them because 2024 was a great release ! ( focusing more on what really count for user : stability, speed optimization, interface latence, a lot of annoying bugs removed. ) The whole color management new features must be exciting for studios and the color conformation pipeline department but from an artist point of view, all this looks like a lot of hassle just to understand how it works, and doesn't look intuitive at all.

I was expecting lots of goodies after the skipping of 2024.3, but this is sorely disappointing. Absolutely nothing worth updating for. Oh well, there's always 2025.2 to look forward to I guess, but I won't be holding my breath.

Interesting under the hood update with the menus. This has been a good release, but If I have to critique something is that I expect artistic tools improvement in EVERY release, in the end Max is an artistic tool not only improvement for devs please!

‼⚠"Did you know that you need to update the Modify menu, especially (Editable Poly) and (Editable Mesh), because there are some issues and slowness when selecting the menu and copying objects? This issue is very old and needs to be addressed. Competing programs have become better with many updates and faster in modeling. I really hoped they improve CAT or at least fix that annoying ik-fk switch glitch on legs. But they improved some USD export (whatever it is) and added some useless retop methods. Disappointment

They have recently shipped updates and fixes to CAT tools including with this release, but users would only be aware if they read the release notes. They don't make videos about it or anything like that to broadcast it louder. You can find the release notes linked in the video description under "Learn more about what's new" and see if those are fixes you find useful.

This is not a new version. This is just a patch and should be basically 2024.3. It reminds me a bit of the announcement in 3dsmax 2017(I think)? when the main news was moving the "Back" button from the window header to the menu.

1 - 3ds max needs to add smarter UV cutting features, such as edge selection, edge cutting, which could help prevent other edges from being automatically selected so much that the user has to go and deselect edges automatically. moving... Open up needs to be better, learn more about Rizom UV 2 - Retopology needs to learn the useful features of togo gun when doing retopology 3 - For modeling, parts are processed automatically Added: Quad cap, or merging multiple objects, Scale with easily setable parameters, display grid parameters in Viewport that need to be updated so that each time you open Max you don't have to edit from the beginning... To support automatic error finding and automatic network connection, Max needs to have better and faster functions than Maya, Maya is still very bad This problem often causes confusion in complex models, and with other software, it is very difficult to convert it into a 3-way network. Please apply AI to develop the ability to build configurations faster, max is high quality construction software, don't let Blender be at risk. Plug in at max is developed but fragmented, research is needed to come up with Max, giving users many choices when working Thank you for accepting my comments

Its very obvious to me that Autodesk has 0 interest in bring new real deal tools inside 3Ds Max because It has to sell those tools in different products. What Autodesk does is simply improving minor things in what is already there and basics. Do not expect any effort from those guys to make any different. The only reason Autodesk catch up recently with some real new things inside 3Ds Max has a name: Blender. It will be like this until Blender 4.1 or 4.2 comes out with Eevee Next, then Autodesk will kind of do something to avoid more migration, which is happening daily.

Under the sweeping reforms and updates of the Unreal Engine UE5, it is unbelievable that it can still maintain insignificant toothpaste updates, which is beyond words... Sending a large number of users to the other party in vain

Nice video. Please add GPU support for Ornatrix... Like in Maya. I know the Ephere developers can't do nothing with this. This depends on you.. We're limited here by 3ds Max's Nitrous Viewport API, which doesn't allow you to access hardware buffers directly which is a requirement for GPU Hair...

What I think is that at most 3, maybe 5 people are working on this program. In order to preserve the error correction requests of old customers, whom they constantly milk, and the features that allow them to shop with other programs, USD etc. They're just doing the job of adding things. They have not prepared a proper training video about the newly added features since 2018. The 3ds Max channel is closed to comments. What more needs to happen for Autodeskin to say we are finishing this program? What a disgrace, they present this as progress. Moreover, they have not prepared a single video lesson about the things they say they have developed since 2018. Nobody other than Autodesk has prepared a single proper training course since 2018, except for architectural visualization. Finish yourself, autodesk, you know. Blender only has 3 years to surpass you, then in 5 years no one will use you anymore. Max will not be developed. If there are errors, that's it to be corrected. This USD was added only because architectural visualization people requested it so that we would not have difficulties in transferring it to Omniverse for fast rendering.

I think the "old" stack modifiers architecture after 30 years must be ported to nodes, more modular more procedural. Also the UI needs an update, currently it's the same 90s graphic.

Recent updates have been improving the UI in many ways, but alas, it's been a very slow progress. Probably lots of old code needs to be rewritten from scratch. Agree on nodes, as an option to have a better overview of what happens within a stack, they would be awesome.

Well, they gave us max creation graph, 10(?) years ago… which only had one or 2 updates before it became another piece of Autodesk abandonware….

Honest question. If you want nodes why not just use Blender? Changing max modifier stack is a no go for me.

They are making efforts so that at one time it will be an old and forgotten program. In a drawer. They continue to adjust an absolutely old user interface. It deserves a radical change.

You 3ds max should prepare carefully for sculpting and biped animation and then announce it. Look at your you tube views and compare it with blender you tube views. If nothing changes in 2025, you will fail

It's time to make autodesk blender 2.0 but with the 3dmax interface... 3D max still lags when opening the "game terrain". Fact that the blender works without no lag in scenes like thise... It would be better for the entire 3ds max community.

I don't want to sound ungrateful, because I understand the - which is now appartent - very small Max development team is doing what they can, but it's time to start firing on all cylinders if you don't want the competition to overtake 3dsMax completely. Blender has already overtaken Max at many studios.

@@real100talk5 Mostly gaming-oriented ones, I'm keeping an eye on job offers and plenty of small-to-mid studios have Blender as a requirement. The larger ones switch to Maya.

احتاج الامر اكثر من 15 سنة عمل جاد وهناك تكاليف ومجهودات كبيرة وعند الإعلان تقومون بتقديم جزء بسيط بطريقة سريعة لدرجة اننا لم نستوعب ما هو الجديد في اصدار 2025 . في هذه الفترة انا فقط احب متابعة آخر التطورات في برامج الثري دي )3d( ,وكنت على امل وضع الاشعة في عارض arnold كما موجود في عارض v- ray

What a disappointment. I cant believe that 3ds Max is still stuck with backward compatibility idea while the rest of industry is moving at unprecedented speed. Just release a 3ds Max with all crap removed from it, if you are so worried, maybe make LTS release for few years with only major features. No one uses a quicksilver , art, post process, ram player and the list goes on. Out of the all the industry, if one company really needs layoffs, its Autodesk. Houdini devs overhauls their features or re write them from .5 to major release and then we have autodesk, pre process is a separate option, congratulations, a seperate drop down is created with an if statement. work done.

shambles as per normal, loads of the core should be rewritten, the QT integration is flaky and c**p as f**k as well, don't get me started on the never updated SME. How about rewriting the menus so they are tabbed like Blender? How about sorting out the joke of the layers and it's fiddly nature. How about sorting out the timeline properly so it shows in seconds and you can skip 1 second at a time. Also whilst we are at it why not retain units properly. Also maybe create a scatter tool which gets updated like Vray scatter.... the EASY list is endless.

When will add new Bevel which work through topology, like Smart Extrude or new Inset faces - it will be revolution in modelling! I don’t understand why the administration and developers are delaying this, because the Blender stepping on heels, and attracts the audience of modellers

Seeing this video only confirms that I made the right choice by cancelling our licenses' subscriptions a couple of years ago when Autodesk started raising the prices heavily for no reason and took away the perpetual license option. Looks like we are not missing out on much. Maybe in five years it will be worth it to upgrade from Max 2023. Maybe.

Every other software on the market: We're hosting a full day event showcasing all the amazing work we've been doing this year to support your wants and needs as developers and our valued customers! Autodesk: Here's a 3minute videos of nothing useful... After a decade of being a Max maxi, I'm really thinking it's time to move over to Blender... Like, why not split your kit into performance products... Games developers don't need half the stuff in here... But we could do with more intuitive tools, better UI, more customization for tools and windows, a trusted plug in marketplace that isn't 2 decades old... Everyone's creaming at you Auto desk to just listen... What's it gonna take?

there is no more major updates in Max, did you know this? is just point releases everytime, 2025 is just a number... and it also marks the SDK update.... nothing else... has been said several times now.
