If I was a junior doctor I wouldn’t bother striking. Just emigrate and go work in a country that actually appreciates and respects you as opposed to one where you’re used as a scapegoat by a rotten, lying, corrupt govt that’s out of ideas and needs booting out of office. Doctors are indeed highly valued - and that's why they should get the 35% that they're asking for.

There was an article yesterday about junior doctors pay. Two doctors, the first was a first year doctor and their take home pay was £2134 a month. I’m a corporal in the military and i get £2552 a month. Granted iv done 11 years but they have already done 7 years of education by the time they start. They should get paid more than me.

What your listeners need to understand is that in conjunction with the depletion of junior doctors’ pay and status their financial predicament at graduation is only the beginning. To maintain the status quo they have to pay out for continuing professional development training every year to accomplish their eligibility to remain on the medical register. If we want our doctors to increase their skills and to train in all the various specialisms that to contribute to a world class standard of medical care then they have to commit time, away from home and family, to prolonged and complex training that also carries significant financial costs. The alternative to underinvestment in this vital professional group is a deskilled and demoralised workforce and we will all suffer as a result. It is now so obvious that this government isn’t competent to run a village bazaar that we can’t expect anything like an adequate resolution while they remain in power.

Don’t give them anything- longer waiting lists ,cancelled appointments- people are sick to death with greedy doctors --clear off abroad, you really are not wanted at this price .

Dear Mr Castle, many doctors pay for their own training eg University of Buckingham, also post graduate courses eg surgical and GP courses are paid for out of their own salaries!

Starting salary of a junior doctor should be £55,000 basic. There Doctors for goodnes sake. If they aren't paid well, what chance have other workers got of getting descent pay.

We in Scotland have tried to pay higher wages to the NHS but we have been subject to policies that aren't devolved.... The current government have no interest in the NHS of their employees... We clapped for them during covid then shafted them first chance we could... These people deserve an absolute fortune for what they do.... People aren't on waiting lists because of staff strikes, it's because of Brexit, when we sent all the foreign staff away, we have no staff and don't offer wages to entice anybody... Britain is heading towards a third world country and it's heading there quickly

40hrs a week! Almost a part time job. I was on minimum wage doing 60+ hrs a week for the majority of my working life , where is my 35%? This is pure greed!

Not paying junior doctors enough is the reason why many leave for other countries once they are fully qualified.

They want private salaries while working for a public NHS, consultant retire on.pensions on average of 70000 a year. These people are political and greedy.

You can tell a lot about society from the way it treats actual skilled professionals. I’ve had countless family members have their lives saved in multiple ways, and when they’re staring death in the face, you want the person dealing with them to be getting paid as much as they feel valued. I was actually very saddened to find out I earn more than a doctor be that junior or whatever (I’m 26) I am quite disgusted that we are battling with the people who are saving our lives over a few pounds per hour. Give it to them.
