I liked the video because of the parking lot. I'm a parking space enthusiast, and I've got to say it. This is one of the most inspiring slabs of asphalt I've seen in all my years wandering this planet. You sir have reignited the dying flame that is my love for parking spaces. Bravo sir, bravo.
2:57 he has already done this with his masked figure "tobi" (his inner thoughts he is trying to fight) and his maskless which is him. tobi is referenced in multiple songs.
Surprised I haven’t heard about this considering the research I’ve done before. Either way, a similar but fresh spin on it with the visuals could be cool.
I think the best approach would be the smooth transition with different characters. He already has some lore that already has these different characters.
I was pretty worried that without the mask he wouldn’t be able to convey the same energy in his performances & promotional videos, but I’m glad so far he isn’t taking the “Dream” option and instead following a similar approach you suggested for being faceless
Also going through the comments, when it comes to the “Tobi” lore there’s videos on BoyWithUke’s channel explaining the origins. I’ve also made some deep dive videos into the lore to breakdown the information
I wonder if part of the reason BoyWithUke showed his face was to tap into an Asian audience. It's no brainer that Asia is exploding with massive amounts of fandoms, and they're insanely loyal to Asian artists (think about the millions of fans 88Rising artists have). Universal Music Korea posted a short from the Seoul Jazz Fest where Uke reveals he was born in South Korea and starts speaking Korean -- the crowd cheers and the comments of the video are mainly Koreans saying how awesome it is that Uke is Korean like them. Also, there's not much Asian representation in the Western music industry aside from K-pop, so maybe Uke wants to inspire a young Asian artist to take alternative paths in life. Idk, just a thought I haven't seen anyone else point out
I definitely think it’s refreshing to have some Asian representation. Capitalizing on the Asian super fans is not something I considered but I guess it could be a factor. At the end of the day I hope all goes well because he seems like a cool dude.
BoyWithUke never wanted the mask to be his symbol. He only used it so people wouldn’t find out who he was and while part of it does reflect his personality, one of the reasons he even had the mask in the first place was so people would focus on the music and not his face. However that exact same thing happened with the mask, some people thought that’s the only thing making him “special” in the industry which is obviously not the case. So now he wants to show that, with or without the mask, he is still BoyWithUke, still makes great music and can still grow.
