Yonex badminton shuttle/shuttlecock is widely used all around the world from amateur levels to the World Championships as well as the Olympics. This video looks at the Yonex Aerosensa shuttlecock from the Aerosensa 50, 40, 30, 20 as well as the Aeroclub TR shuttle.
I compare both the Aerosensa shuttle/shuttlecocks as well as the Aeroclub shuttlecock in 4 different categories, flight quality, sound, feel as well as durability. Each shuttle model comes at a different price point so there's a perfect shuttlecock model for everyone.

Got to try as50s before n I liked it very much, n tried as30s as well when 50s ran out of stock. However I was shocked to realise that 30s were a totally different feel compared to 50s, not to mention the durability as they didn't survive a set of casual game. Guessed that price range of these shuttles do make a difference.

We use AS30 at my local club and they probably have the best price/performance ratio in the Yonex range. Our youth department used AS20 for a while but we found that they were a significant step down and that the better durability of AS30 more than offset the slightly higher cost in comparison. RSL also makes great shuttles. RSL Classic is an old favorite. I haven't had good experiences with shuttles from Li Ning and Victor.

Thank you for this review, very informative. :) I run a club for intermediate-advanced players weekly in the UK. I personally find AS30 the best bang for the buck so far and reasonable price for everyone when sharing out the cost. Anything cheaper or other brands just wouldn't last as long as AS30. If you go for cheaper ones they break easy and it's probably going to cost you more in the long run. I didn't really have the chance to try out AS40 or AS50 as we think 30s are already sufficient and not sure if it's worth going for something with an even higher price tag.
@CKYew

Tournaments are definitely the best. You get 2 sets with 1 shuttle. 20s would do at junior or lower level 30s for league matches where tolerance on breakages is lower 50s for private sessions as they become your warm up shuttles after I tried FZ VIP and RSL Tourney No.1. Both tend to break from the middle to the stiching. You end up with no warm up or feeding shuttles.

Victor Champion Gold is very good. AS40s quality good flight and durability. They are slightly heavier than Yonex. Victor Service are similar to AS20s. Reasonable Flight and more durable but not much feel to it. Victor Masters Ace have superb flight like the 50s, stiff feathers. But 50s last longer. Babolat 1 are Taiwan made goose feathers. Flight is just as good as AS30s, last longer and tiny bit cheaper.

@ronnied8692 2 года назад
I too believe that cheaper shuttles will cost you more on the long run, like costs for a club in a year. The better, more expensive shuttles will last much longer and play much better. On the plus side: the used shuttles can still be used for training or multi shuttle feeding. Paul Stewart had a nice set up to test quality and cost calculations. Can't find it though. In the past I've done tests too with AS50, AS30 and Victor Gold Champion among a few others. AS50 was by far the best shuttle. Build like a tank. However, because it kept its form so well, but does fluff a bit, it tends to slow down quicker than other shuttles. Resulting in changing shuttles faster than you'd like. Maybe that's part of why pro players change shuttles so often. Certainly not because they broke everytime. Victor Gold Champion is comparable with AS30, in price too. A bit lighter in feel, perhaps. But very good bang for your buck. We might change to AS30 though, just to try it out for a year.

I have a tube of the King Kong 500. They are hybrid so it is feather stuck to plastic stuck to a cork. Feathers feel soft and curve to the left as you look from above, unlike full feathers where the feathers are straight. Adequate for general play where touch and feel aren't so important like forehand reverse slice drop or spinning net shots. Quite bouncy and takes off at a higher speed before slowing down. Natural feathers are more consistent in this area. Suitable for up to intermediate level. Only €1 a shuttle. Also tried the FZ hybrid. Stay clear.

Too bad I live in an area where the feather shuttles are not really accessible, and also very expensive when bought online. The whole badminton community here plays with plastic shuttle like the Yonex Mavis series. Fun part is, I personally see these feather shuttles as very prestige here, but there are people here who actually REFUSE to play with them just because it's going to be inconsistent for them. xD

Feathers shuttle certainly play differently to plastics. They’re also more responsive as well as kinder to your joints and strings too
@MCChay
@MCChay 2 года назад
@@CKYew Yes! I have also realized that it’s easier to do most of the trick shots (at least those that i know) on feather shuttles compared to the plastic shuttles. Plastic shuttles have more “straightforward” reactions. Many of the cuts and slices which will cause a shuttle tumble on feather shuttles, will end up bouncing off your strings and becoming a straight net drop. I feel that it’s because of the weight ratio of the shuttle head to the feather/plastic end.
