This is exactly why the narrator often says variations of the phrase, "luckily, no one was hurt." They would also talk about people jumping clear, or have another character talk about people not being hurt. It's also a good thing the engines have whistles. They are an important safety feature that gets people's attention when their is danger.

This video will fight two RU-vid monsters, RU-vid Kids & Copyright. Both have become far more strict recently. The most destructive is RU-vid Kids as there is now way to reverse it's takedown, it's even more destructive than Rustys Boulder which is by far the most dangerous and deadly thing ever seen on Thomas & Frenemies.

I’ve always thought that the ‘Thomas comes to breakfast’ crash has been the scariest, for the humans anyway. Just imagine your sat with your family and all of a sudden this giant face crashes through your window. Horrific stuff 😂

I think that suspension bridge breaking is the most deadly because if Stephen didn't warn anyone, Thomas, Gordon, and both of thier trains would've proabably met a gruesome end in that canyon below.

I’ve always imagined Percy’s Chocolate Crunch crash to be one of the most deadly due to him barrelling through a factory destroying everything in his path. Put Upon Percy, A Close Shave and Thomas Comes to Breakfast also seemed lethal too

In addition to the grim implication regarding the guard, the Flying Kipper is made all the worse by the grinding scare chord that blares at the moment of impact. The mine collapse certainly is the worst for obvious reasons.

The saddest thing about Flying Kipper, is the fact the guard lost his coa-coa.

Respect for Gordons crash was pretty deadly considering he was pulling the express and slammed into a goods train and what i can presume is full speed despite braking hard.

In the book, the guard from the Flying Kipper got launched like a jack-in-the-box and landed in a snow bank

Finally someone who points out that the Guard didn’t make out of the brakevan in the Flying Kipper episode. While in book, he’s seen in the snow being bit dizzy.

I always love the fact that Ringo Starr voiced the narrator for the beginning of the series. The drummer for The Beatles providing narration for a kids show about toy trains would seem so random and out of place if he wasn’t such a perfect voice actor.

One I'd like to mention is the accident in 'Cranky Bugs' where a ship crashes into the shed and knocks over Cranky, for one, the engines in the shed could've met their demise if the ship didn't stop, and Cranky falling over could definitely kill anyone who might have been nearby

Most of the crashes would be 90% deadlier if the narrator didn't say "...Luckily, no one was hurt"

If I remember correctly, Season 5 had way more crashes and spooky scenes compared to the other seasons. I literally remember seeing the mine scene in "Put Upon Percy" for the first time as a kid, and watching it gave me both the chills and nightmares, with the creepy atmosphere of the mine, the crash, the siren, and the dramatic music. I guess I knew from the get-go that it was perhaps the deadliest or better yet the scariest crash in the entire show and even to this day stand by that statement.

Technically, in "The Adventure Begins", they never show the driver or fireman jumping out of James or in the aftermath of his derailment. We only see the guard surviving that crash. Jumping at high speed, or staying with James during the derailment would not likely have a favorable outcome for the driver or fireman.

I think the crash in respect for Gordon (I think that's the episode name) when he crashes into a train of tankers with the express that would be pretty deadly

I would've placed Thomas's crash where he flips over in The Great Discovery somewhere on here. Whilst there's no visible damage on Thomas, you're not easily walking away from an accident like that.

What I really learned from this is that Season 5 had many deadly crashes.

In the original railway series version of 'The Flying Kipper', the Driver, Fireman and Guard were all in the breakvan when Henry Crashed into it but got sent flying into the snow instead, the fireman is more concerned about his Cocoa than the incident given he complains about it to Henry

This show is very good of showing what a railway look like and yes the crashes sure is definitely once you realize. As a kid I never realized how dark the show is once you compare it to real life because scraping to them means getting murdered, being abandoned to them is like being homeless, and the crashes sure can be deadly, yeah lucky no one is hurt.

A Close Shave has the tension that S2 carried, as well as the soundtrack that played along with it, as well as the sound effects. ACS will always be my favourite and, to me, the most deadliest.

One people don’t mention often is the near miss in The Thomas Way (the S17 Duck and Thomas episode). They’re going through knapford station with an oversized load. Knapford station has a glass canopy. If they had hit that canopy…well, you just hope that glass is strong. Though the urgency with which Thomas tells Duck to stop suggests that, yes, it would be pretty injurious, probably deadly. Pretty sure MasterOfTheLemons has an audio story where that does happen, and it’s as dangerous as you’d imagine. And to flex my nerd cred some more, the crash in Thomas and the Rumours (also done by Gordon lol) was probably devastating. I mean, the workmen don’t know Gordon is coming, and he does not stop in time. There’s no way any of the workmen had time to escape. And, of course, the tunnel literally explodes with sand. It would be an act of god for no one to have been injured or killed in that. But given that, for once, a driver is reprimanded for the incident, and the narrator doesn’t assure use that no one was hurt….you can only imagine how devastating of an accident it was. Someone definitely died in that tunnel.

What about Season 1 when James crashed into a tar wagon? His driver and fireman were still inside the cab and the fact it caused a nasty bio hazard that effected the people who lived at and near that station. Also it's sadly perfectly similar with that real life incident that just happened a few days ago in Palestine, Ohio

In my opinion the crash in Thomas and the special is pretty deadly. Someone could have been at the foot of the hill while Thomas came rolling down it at a very high speed. Which could have resulted in a number of fatalities.

I think ‘Snow’ should have been on here somewhere, where a number of trucks in a massive drift land on skarloey and bury them. Also ‘Dunkin’ Duncan’, where Duncan is literally launched off a cliff into a massive swamp below.

(8:15 is a dream sequence for the novel/movie, for those who haven't read/seen it before.)

I'd move the kipper up a couple, because Rusty's ghost is never confirmed to actually be real, and we don't know if anyone was in that shed when the boulder hit, but it's heavily implied that the guard was still in that van, and he's almost certainly very dead, making that one of the few crashes in Thomas where we can assume someone actually died. For similar reasons, I'd actually put Percy's Chocalate Crunch, which you featured in the opening sequence but didn't rank, somewhere in the middle of this list, because I don't think it was ever confirmed that nobody in that busy factory was hurt. I'd put it just below Rusty and the Boulder.

What about Toby and the Flood? An entire village could have been drowned, and Toby and his crew nearly plummeted off a waterfall.

7:02 It's a good thing Gordon blew his whistle. The whistle or horn of a locomotive is a very important safety feature. It gets people's attention and can allow people to see the danger in time to respond.

One of the most concerning was actually a HIT episode, in Respect For Gordon, he has a collision while pulling the Express.

You forget the crash in the great discovery when the great Waterton building crash and the episode Thomas trusty friend is also deadly

The bridge crash in Thomas and the New Engine was really serious, considering that Neville was pulling a passenger train.

In my opinion 6:51 №6 would be the most dangerous because if Gordon went flying out there the controller, driver and fireman could've died and engines would be traumatised

Two crashes I'd include in this video would be S1, E28 "James in a mess" and S4, E8 "Rusty Helps Peter Sam," in these crashes, James destroys two tar wagons and Peter Sam's funnel gets permanently damaged to the point that it is replaced a few episodes after.

I think the kipper crash was the worse Crashing head first at full speed into another train? I also love the lady chasing Thomas for ruining her breakfast and the lady falling out from the station

The Fogman is an episode that comes to mind as being deadly due to the avalanche that occurred from the foghorn and Thomas's crash

I seem to recall a Thomas episode where an Olympic sized cruise liner crashes into the dock, tearing apart the dockside, knocking buildings down on top of running locomotives, and toppling a certain upset tower crane. Pretty sure if this happened in real life, it would make the news....

Okay can I just say all these crashes really showcase the love and effort that went into the model work for the pre CG version of the show? There's weight to everything. You never feel like these are tiny trains on a set somewhere, but rather that you're watching a massive vehicle smash into a building or a rockslide devastate a quarry. There's pyrotechnics, water in large containers smashing to the ground, it's all so gorgeous.

Also Thomas in Journey Beyond Sodor is a "Pure Luck". Because if the bucket haven't bashed him away from falling into the vat of molten steel, it could be a nightmare

Some crashes you missed: In Break Van, there were two disasters. First Donald backed into a signal box, damaging his tender and almost killing the signalman inside. The next day, James and Douglas were operating a freight train together when Douglas - pushing from behind - killed a rude but nevertheless still living - caboose and almost killed its guard too! A whole quarry nearly got destroyed in Trucks! A locomotive (Peter Sam) and his crew could've either died or gotten seriously injured! Meanwhile, between 3 and 8 slate trucks passed away (do the five odd empty trucks count as victims or did they survive the catastrophe? I don't know). Likewise in Snow, after some empty slate trucks derailed at the incline railway, seven freight cars, loaded with slates, rumbled down the slope straight towards an oblivious Skarloey who was bringing more trucks to the incline railway to pick up slate inside a ravine! Did seven odd trucks die, or did nearly a dozen kick the bucket? Don't forget Skarloey's crew could've frozen to death too. In Haunted Henry, as Henry was pushing a freight train to a station by a lake, six to seven odd troublesome trucks broke away, falling to their deaths in another gorge. In Dunkin' Duncan, another four trucks died when Duncan plummeted down the incline railway with them. If his crew hadn't jumped clear then they almost certainly would've gone the way of all flesh by drowning in that muddy pond.

The Flying Kipper still gives me chills, the first time I read about the Abbots Ripton rail disaster (the real life events that the story is based on) all I could think about was how seriously they portrayed the crash in both the TV show and the book and how glad I am that they only tell half the story

With the amount of accidents on Sodor it’s surprising how this railway’s even running or at the very least closed. There were a couple of season 5 episodes in here which takes up almost 1/3 of the ranking if i’m correct, just goes to show accidents happen now and again (especially deadly ones). Probably unrelated but in breakvan Donald did destroy Spiteful and probably killed his guard, plus since we never see The Spiteful Breakvan ever again I would pressure he was scraped and his guard buried at his funeral

Gordon’s boiler explosion in the Great Race, James In A Mess with the Tar Wagons, Gordon takes a tumble, Oliver’s accident in the turntable well, James crashing into the roundhouse, Edward getting knocked over by the crane, Cranky falling over, Toby on the tight rope, Toby almost falling over a waterfall, Donald falling into a coal pile, and Duncan landing in the mud. All should have been included.
