The strain is incredible in the worst way. He should have tuned the song down, it’s obvious that he’s having trouble with the higher notes and trying to get that gritty sound that Kurt had. But it’s NOT WORKING.

When you're doing it right you're relaxed and even adding grit isn't something that you need to add strain to achieve. I literally used his cover in a presentation about vocal distortion as the example of how not to do it
