My mom, because she did it twice. First time, I was 6 and mugged on the way home from school. Walked in the door as a bloody mess to find a surprise birthday party. She took me in the kitchen, quickly cleaned me up, then said "They're your guests. Go out there and entertain them!!" Fast forward 25 years. I had been out of state, attending college and working as a police officer. First, my long term, college girlfriend breaks off her engagement to me for family issues, then I had to take the life of a psychopath trying to kill a police officer. When I got home, I sat down and told my mom the whole story, finishing with that I wanted to just stay away from people while I sort out my feelings. Later that evening, she lures me into a surprise welcome party at a restaurant. Naturally, I stormed out and she was angry about that.

I thought you were a woman the entire time until I checked the username. Still could be, just sharing the thought I had. It altered the way I received the story.

When I was 9 or so we had a writing assignment at school. Pick one of two topics, one was to write a fairytale or fantasy-related story (I don't remember the other). I started this long story about a man sho was cursed and to lift the curse he had to travel all over the kingdom, gathering herbs and similar ingredients, then a witch had to brew it into a potion for him to drink. My stepmother read the first couple of pages I'd written, then suddenly said "Elixir? What is that?...WHAT IS THAT??" I was very insecure as a kid, and her dominant voice made me hesitate and question if I knew it (eventhough I 100% did). Then she continued scolding me with "You always want to appear sooo smart by flinging all these fancy words around! Delete all that and write something else!" That instantly killed my love for writing and fantasy, so the next day I went to our teacher and said I wanted to switch topic. Made a piss poor effort and got the grade that matched, but I didn't care at all. And I never forgave her for that.

If you write I would love to read something if you want to share. I love reading the passion people put into stories. ❤

A "friend" who I for some reason still hang out with occasionally. I'm still more distant with him than I used to be, but we just clashed over multiple things. There were 2 major incidents though: 1: He was cooking something that included onions. I told him not to put onion skins in the garbage disposal. He did anyways. It broke the garbage disposal. It wasn't even his apartment. The apartment maintenance people took a while to fix the sink so it wouldn't leak. He still thinks it's okay to put stuff like onion skins and eggshells in the disposal, despite multiple sources of online evidence saying that putting solids of any kind down a sink, disposal or no, is a bad idea. 2: Very consistent n-word jokes, when no one in our friend group is black. I politely asked him to stop, then I get upset when he makes a joke directly at me and he acts like he's the victim for being yelled at. I later send a calm but lengthy text message to him and he says something along the lines of "I'm not going to change what I find funny for your tastes." I don't think I talked to him for a month after that.

Someone donated beer where I work and my manager made me throw it away. Would’ve been nice on a hot day after work, lol at least the homeless might find it

A lot of cheating in this video, I can understand that. I found out my mother cheated on my father with her own brother and I don't understand why my father forgave her cause they're still together and this happened 32 years ago. I don't forgive my mother for that. I'm glad I went NC with my parents last year. It had to be my cousin from my father's side to tell me this....

I have no idea how many times my mom said she was going to kill herself or how many times she just up and disappeared. Then, one day, I just couldn't keep pretending to be ok and haven't spoken to her since. That was over 4 years ago.

Prince…for leaving us standing alone in a world so cold…seriously he should still be here… Also my birth mom. My brother told me decades after her death that he was at so much peace because it meant she couldn’t torture him anymore. He was six. And he saved my life by taking me over grandma’s house when Mom was having her “episodes” mental illness hurts everyone. Please get help. Someone is counting on you…

The only person that counts on me refuses to acknowledge it or even show a sliver of appreciation. I refuse to even consider being mentally unwell, so if I ever take self checkout, it'll be because it was the time was right.

People who lie about being assaulted in any capacity all because they want to be petty, get a settlement, or get sympathy from others. As someone who was sexually assaulted as a child, it makes me beyond angry when someone lies about being attacked. It not only shows how low they're willing to stoop to ruin someone's life, but it makes it harder for real victims to come forward and be believed.

Definitely mild compared to these stories, but here goes: my ‘friends’ I had binned me off. If you asked me exactly why they did that, my answer would be that I think it’s because one of them got a boyfriend, who, for whatever reason, didn’t like me (he’d talk one-on-one with everyone but me, would keep conversations involving me as monosyllabic as possible etc.) and gave her the ultimatum, and she made the wrong choice (I’ve always considered their relationship healthy and I’m sure they’re very happy, but it’s a life policy of mine that if someone gives you an ‘it’s me or them’ ultimatum, choose ‘them’ because unless it’s for a good reason, like drugs/gambling, people giving ultimatums are toxic). Then, the other friend joined in with her. Now, that I can understand, since they went to high school, work(ed?) together etc. so I always knew if Friend B had to choose between me or Friend A, he’d choose Friend A. However, let’s say they break up, or the friends have a falling out, and they come crawling back to me saying ‘sorry, we binned you off because of this, can we be friends again?’ ima say no. They’ve shown me who they are. What’s to stop it from happening again if A gets a new boyfriend? If A and B made up/B reconnects with an old friend? Nah, tbh not a day goes by that I don’t thank them for binning me off. Thanks for letting me know how friends are NOT supposed to treat you!

Parents who keep having kids when they aren't financially ready or clearly aren't gonna work out. Example: my parents. At least my dad had the money but not my mom...and she did it again. Also bullying and indoctrination. I have experienced all of it.
