What's Your "I Finally Met My Online Friend" Nightmare? 

Stories like this are why the old folks used to tell us never meet anybody from on the computer😂😂😂

Feel bad for these people. I’ve travelled all over Europe with many different people I’ve met online. Some of my greatest memories.

Mine's long, so I'll try to shorten it; -Met girl on DeviantArt -We roleplay Kingdom Hearts on the chatrooms with other people -She and I "hook up" (we never met yet) -Over time, she starts acting sad, like a pet has died. I ask her what's wrong and only get one-word answers in response. -She logs off/goes invisible, which I assume was to avoid me. -I go onto Habbo Hotel and get hit on by random weirdos before logging out from discomfort -I tell her when she logs in and she accuses me of cheating before blocking me and ruining my good mood. -She would unblock and continuously lord over me as if she was superior before blocking me again when I didn't say what she wanted to hear, reruining my returning mood -After a while, she unblocks me and we stay as friends -Wr officially met at a London comic con and formed a group of friends, also from DA (she found them). -One guy we were friends with admitted he liked her and she found out -They go back to her shared hotel suite -She sits on his lap, *lets him feel her up,* then gets up, says "Actually, I don't fancy you!" and walks out of the bedroom. -I spend the entirety of the next day, circling the convention centre as I heard him out. He was beyond heart broken. -He eventually gets a girlfriend who joins our group. Princess didn't like that and would try to get in the way. -Eventually, she would cut contact with me because I would keep reminding her of the horrible thing she did to him. He would take her side, for whatever reason. I suspect he still has feelings for her. These days, her account on DA is just full of MMD screenshots of Sora with her Mary-Sue OC from her fanfiction, Anime Hearts. Think Tsubasa Chronicles, but Donald and Goofy are there and it's Kingdom Hearts-centred. She's a 30-something yeal old woman who lusts over a fictional 15 year old. Honestly glad she's no longer present in my life, but I hate that I wasted all that time on her

I only ever met 1 person I knew online. It was thankfully not a horror story, but a fun time exploring London

Man, I'm so glad I didn't have things go this badly when I first met my online friend in person three years ago.... We got engaged this past Valentine's Day.

So many were from early chat or early mmo’s, I was in my early 20’s when chat rooms were a thing, it was cool talking to people from everywhere but we figured out that 3 interactions got a ‘ what are you wearing’ question, it was fun.

I moved mine in rather than letting her become homeless. She isolated me to the point I lost friends. Every time I wanted a simple boundary, mostly surrounding money (she didn’t have any or a job), I couldn’t without her having a mental breakdown. Behind my back, she sent my then 15yo texts telling them I’d disown them if they didn’t respect her. When everything came out, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts said she had to move or I had to give up custody of my kid until she did. Never ever again.

No one touches my phone, unless specifically handed to! It is law.

I really feel bad for a lot of these people I've been pretty lucky that pretty much all my experiences of meeting my online friends has been positive

I met a person on a dating site. We had a lot in common, so we decided to meet up after two months (at her request). It was a far away state, but I said ok, my parents are on vacation. (Bought a plane ticket with my own money). Later arrive at the house. A person my age named Jeff opens the door i said I was the person she met, he called for his mom, i asked "Your mom?" He said yup. (Showed him the picture and he said oh no not again ". (His mom had a thing for younger guys and she is using a picture fromhighschool. Older lady comes down and says how wonderful it is to meet you. Took me dinner. I made a plan with Jeff to get out of there. At restaurant I pulled a lighter and said i was going outside for a smoke well we wait (Jeff was there in his car, drove me to the airport which i bought a plane ticket home. I emailed Jeff who told me he told his mom he got a call for family emergency

I wouldn’t be surprised if I was the “Star” of at least one or two of these, back when I was at my worst I used to use a pic of my from my first deployment as a profile pic and tried justifying by saying “I want to look like that again”. I think after a while I realized how messed up that was and started to really work on myself, I’ll probably never have what a buddy of mine called “boy band hood looks” back but I’m happy with who I am and how I look now a days!

Flew long distance to meet some people from an online game. Met my 'guild' leader who I'm still friends with today and also his best friends who were in the guild also. Leader and his bestie and I decided to road trip to meet a friend from another group and one of our officers. When we met the officer, let's call him "Eddie" we already knew a lot about him. Where he lived, what his job was, we all knew each others real names. We all parked at a gas station and took Eddie's car and he drove us to a remote location to hang out. Was a nice place. I got acquainted with the local wildlife and myself and bestie goofed around with rock lizards while the leader spoke quietly with Eddie. Was everyone's first time meeting Eddie in person. He seemed pretty nice, if reserved. After that day we parted ways and the real horror started a short time later. Someone who knew Eddie reached out to the leader and told him some alarming things about Eddie. Like, he didn't and never had a job as a paramedic firefighter (guy knew a disturbing lot about fire), things most people would really have to research. His name wasn't what we thought it was, and also that he had some pretty dark stuff in his past. Never did learn his real name. So who was it we met? And went to a really remote location with? Did was somehow say or do something that prevented disaster? To this day it boggles the mind how much we trusted this person to be alone with him but really he was a total stranger

Here's something a bit more positive, I met my best friend irl not too long ago and it was awesome and I don't regret doing that, he's a good guy and I'm glad to have him as a friend

Discord dnd group. Went on a short vacation after a year of playing together, found out I was the only girl who actually went when I arrived. 20/10 don’t recommend because it was the creepiest, most uncomfortable few days ontop of everything going wrong. One was a pedo, one- a rich douche, one a discord mod type, the other was.. a danger to all women…. Never had a trip or vacation more traumatizing than that one. Just cause they are married, or a woman, doesn’t mean you can trust them

Story 5 couple was very rude, sure, but the commenter was third-wheeling with an /international/ long-distance couple. That was a bad idea on everyone's part.

Oh god Story 4 is the most embarrassing one

I met one online friend, and we're married with a baby now 🤭

Honestly if you didn't mind paying why take the time to point it out otherwise that storie was so bad
