Proper framing, bridges, shrimps and learning to utilize my hips is a big one for me. I am not superman. I realize and completely get that the higher ranks not only know what I know, but they're much better at it. That means I'm gonna end up getting pinned. A LOT. I made sure that if I mastered nothing else at first, I made sure I knew how to escape from bad positions FIRST and then proper pressure/pin and basic submissions/chokes. Learning proper grips and restraining someone is also ideal. Control.

I agree with definitely with the rolling with the sharks immediately. That's how our school rolls and our guys are pretty good even after just 2 to 3 months coming to class at least 2 time a week rolling 2 hour each class.

Hey Sonny it’s Holden from back in the day at plus one I was looking at martial arts RU-vid and came across your content. Looking pretty good so far so you earned my subscription. Good to see you got your own school too. Hope all is well! Osu! Oh and to give a question. What do you think about the amount of politics in Bjj? Does it still have any place in the modern age? I’ve done judo for years now and there’s a lot less and it’s very refreshing. This one is fiery topic so if you don’t want to touch it I understand lol.
