This Matco MT1769 1/2" air impact somehow smoked. This isn't a common phenomenon, but after I disassemble this unit, the reason will be obvious. Highly advisable that when you buy your pair of snap ring pliers, you also buy a snap ring assortment lol. They sometimes just want to be jerks and deform as well

I think you might have said it in another video, but what causes the selector buttons to not stay clicked in place?

The only thing I found that does that, Greg, is if the teeth on the buttons aren't meshed with the teeth on the valve. It's pretty easy to avoid as long as everything is aligned properly. The one thing that will throw you off is if you installed the valve with the tab facing forward instead of rearward. You'll be spinning your wheels for a while trying to figure that one out. Ask me how I know.

Own the exact same impact IR? Only issue I ever had was the trigger went bad, just replaced it, and still use it to this day? About 20 years old? Great impact in my opinion?

No, Daniel, I don't. I thought about that, but keeping an inventory of loaners and maintaining them when they break wouldn't be cost effective.
