I think you can tell who the Christians who are walking the walk are by their humility. Pride is considered the chief sin for a reason. Look at the Veggie Tales guy and Scott: When they failed, they took responsibility for their failings and tried to improve for next time. That's putting the Christian ethic into practice (I am weak and sinful, but by focusing my eyes on the perfection of God instead of my own conception of greatness, I can do amazing things.)

Yup! Very similar and it's after her husband has already died I believe. Since the story is an allegory technically Christian didn't leave his wife; he spiritually took a different path. The implication is that she watched him and his faith inspired her to seek God herself. Her children went with her too and I remember as a child liking that version more!

You've earned my respect dude, I agree with what you're saying while being a Christian, this is my belief on this topic, you can teach it, but you shouldn't force it, because if you have to force it, it's not a belief. I also believe that just because an Atheist says something doesn't automatically mean a Christian can't accept the advice and vice versa especially if it's helpful in the situation someones going through. To me that's just stupid. Also I agree Saberspark is pretty entertaining with the way he presents his content.

There are hundreds of different religious or whatnot movenents around the globe. It's not the religions that matter, it's the wisdom of people, of the "congregations". People and peoples had created texts. There weren't given by God. For there is no "god" with capital "g". I think it's pretty impressive how Scott literally took the criticism about his game characters looking like creepy, lifeless animatronics and made a fucking horror game inspired by it. He didn't give up, he looked at the people laughing at his work and said "oh I'll give you animatronics..."

I read the book when I was a kid. It's kind of scary, actually. As a Christian and a horror writer this makes me happy. It's fun to be scared in a safe setting. A nice adrenaline rush is what horror is all about.

Man its really bizarre to think I essentially met Scott Cawthon. He and his family used to frequent the restaurant I worked at. We always knew them as the Tilapia and queso family. Which changed to Chicken Fajitas for 2 just for Scott, then changed to 2 chicken fajita sandwiches, also just for Scott. It was a wild day when I found out that I was in the same class with his 2nd oldest son.

I'm not religious and Pilgrim's Progress is seriously one of my favorite books. I've always been fascinated by the direct allegory and personification of virtues and vices in a Christian's journey. Not sure if it's something that would work outside of a book or audio drama but I think it's awesome this guy tried to make a video game out of it.

I love how Scott’s career is like: Christian movie about staying on the path of god, game about a robot fixing other robots, 8 bit game about buying supplies for your little camp, game about a beaver managing a lumber company And then just Multimedia horror franchise about children being murdered, their souls being tormented and seeking vengeance, the soul of their killer working its way into the mind of an innocent woman and commanding her to kill, a man being cut open and used as a skin suit for a mesh of robots controlled by the soul of his little sister and then becoming a walking purple corpse, and much, much more. Fr tho one thing I love is how you can see how Scott’s modeling/animation has improved a lot. Souldozer actually cameos in FNaF world too

I heard that part of his inspiration for FNaF was him recieving complaints about his games looking "creepy", "inhumane" and "unnatural" and essentially responding by grabbing a computer and laughing evilly. Scott Cawthon is my hero.

In defense of the writing, this was written back in 1678. The Anglican Church called fiction a sin because technically it was a lie, if you squint hard enough. Never mind that Jesus Himself told parables. So when John Bunyan wanted to write a story about a Christian's path to heaven, the Church nearly took him down over it. So he went super heavy handed with the allegory to make it obvious that, while fictitious, it was very Christian in nature. Basically, he used the symbolism as a loophole to allow him, as an Anglican minister, to write a novel that *wasn't* a textbook on how to murder "witches," "werewolves," and "vampires." It's actually pretty advanced for how nasty the Church and it's ministers could be at the time.

Bunyan wasn’t an Anglican but a nonconformist. When those were cracked down on, he was imprisoned for 12 years until they were granted more tolerance from the Crown and hence the Anglican Church.

He seems like he was sort of a closet horror buff. Then again, the Bible had some pretty terrifying stuff in it. The idea of 'cherubs' being rosy-cheeked little winged toddlers is a pretty new one. The original descriptions for Cherubs would've put them right at home with some of the nastiest of Sumerian demons.
