You are one of the premier wargaming channels out there that doesn't shill warhammer 24/7. It's a breath of fresh air seeing someone competent put in the effort to detail the different, and frankly superior, tabletop wargaming systems out there.
I'm coming over to SW Legion from 40k because it got too expensive and my nephew is a big fan of Star Wars, and I can get two armies for the price of one in 40k. I'm happy that Veers is in this game and that he's good to have in your army. He's always been one of my favorites.
Thanks for this, i really enjoy these videos. I hope rebels and empire get given a special faction mechanic with a few first couple wave unit updates, as you said they aren't uncompetitive, but they seriously lag behind the CIS and GAR. Thanks pal!
Do they really? I mean I’ve seen keywords on their units that have no parallels. (Built in precise, high velocity on trooper scale weapons.) I mean not having an army wide special rule makes sense for OT armies. Certain gear is even more useful to the older armies. (Electro binoculars, portable scanner.) I’ll agree they have first armies issues but nothing as bad as the balance gaps GW would do for new hotness armies.
Really informative. I think for myself if I end up not doing the Rouge One build ill be trying a Hoth themed one. With a winter germans color pallet to match.
Very informative and helpful. I notice that you never seem to include many force users in your list, are they that bad or are the non-users just better? I'm interested in running Emperor Palpatine and his royal guards but I never see him talked about in any tactica or listbuilding articles.
Well the Imperials only have 2 Force users as of now (3 if you count Vader twice). Palpatine is good but when you play him your entire list revolves around him. This is a beginners guide to help get you started with a basic collection, nothing too specialized. If you buy something like Palpatine and Royal Guard right off the bat you’re going to be stuck playing him for a while and your opponent is going to get good at countering him, which will get old fast.
So kinda a question and maybe an idea for future videos. Since these seem to be buying guides for new players would you have different buying guides for getting into a faction if it were not your first army?
Probably the same route. Just sell off more of the contents from the core sets and/or perhaps buy less core sets in the builds that recommend multiple. These videos are meant to show people how to start an army with a comprehensive foundation for list building.
They’re very good if you build your list right. Their sheer height gives them great LoS advantages and they have a lot of upgrades that increase their firepower to devastating effect. The real key to making them work is strategizing to make sure they’re pulling their weight every turn. If they spend 2 or 3 turns not attacking or targeting low priority threats you may not get your points worth and your opponent may overrun the rest of your troopers, which usually means they can win the objectives.
I’m pretty active on the Legion Discord. That being said I do plan on launching a Patreon in the future, with which I plan on having a community channel where contributors can make requests on what content they want to see, lists I play, etc.
