The best thing about Saturday mornings for me here in the UK is when I wake up I get a notification that JDM Masters has uploaded a new video and I always watch it in full before getting up. Only channel I have notifications turned on for. Absolutely fantastic channel!
The S2000 is one of the best cars ever made. I've had all the fan boy cars from Supras to GT-Rs etc and the two cars I've had the most fun owning that I regretted selling the most are my DC2 ITR and S2000. Last August when I came back to the US I immediately bought another one and realized the prices have creeped up a little bit as compared to when I bought my first one in 2012.
@gilbert martinez I beg to differ in 2012 you could buy an 03 AP1 with 60k for around 13 good luck finding that now. Oh and have you seen the prices of CRs presently as compared to 6 years ago. Prices of JDM cars arent even remotely close to going down. You might need to open your eyes. Not to mention that AP1 in January at sold for 60k at Barrett Jackson
Tokyo JZA80 Tell me about that S2000 selling for $60k. Might make me consider selling me my near mint ‘04 totally stock with 27k miles garage life, rarely driven over the last decade.
Having choice paralysis between a DC2 and an S2000, which would you choose if you had to pick one as a weekender? I live in the UK where it rains a lot too
Your channel is great and I hope you get a lot of success on RU-vid, your presentation is honest , full of knowledge and I can tell you are passionate about JDM cars and showing the World what you find.
An old man I know has one in his garage, it looks brand new. I asked him about it. He said he has never taken it out in the rain ever. And people always offered him money for it, highest is like 25k, he said he's gonna give it to his kids. I assume they'll probably just sell it.
You finally got an S2000 on your channel! Please do a feature on it, a full review soon! I also own a 2000 model AP1 and i think Albo should buy (if he hasn't already) that AP1. It looks so clean and is obviously in good shape so it gets two thumbs up from me :) you guys didn't mention anything about the headlights being USDM - did u notice that? It actually looks like a wrap or Laminx was applied. Personally I'd remove that. Tail lights also look blacked out. Changed to aftermarket or wrapped? One of the other things to check when buying an S2000 is if the diff makes any noise while driving. If the car was hard launched often the diff could be damaged. Unlikely scenario though worth checking. Gearbox condition is also important to check and the coil packs should be checked for any signs of oil residue which would exhibit misfires eventually. A new valve cover and spark plug tube gasket set would be required in that case. Rear bumper gaps usually happen on S2000's over time. This can be reset though.
DAMMMMMMMN, he did get an s2k, F20C for Japanese? The hardtop is a need!!! RIP with his Yata tho, was such a beautiful car. I can confirm tho, s2k rear bumper are always like that. I owned a total two s2k in my experience, they all miss aligning like in the vid.
I sold my fully stock except all undercarriage bushes and arms upgraded to Hard Race - 1999 S2000 AP1 (under 20,000km done up) last November 2019, for a FD3s Mazda Spirit R. No regret of owning that S2000. I am happy with my FD3S.
The colours are different because 99-03 04-09. At 60k the TCT always goes you'll hear it clearly. You're missing a plastic cover under the Soft Top when it retracts.
ah yes the excitement going to buy a car, like my sti ver9 year 07 33K ++ kilometers when i bought it, i took a flight alone to view the car. open up every door, bonnet, feel all the paint, touch and check everything like a mad man loll. Some minor surface rust and a cracked front center grill though. but most important the price, mileage,interior/exterior matched the mileage and mechanically things run okay. Pull the trigger, bought it and lets enjoy it!
You know a lot about this car. Next time I return to japan I would like to meet you at some car meeting. I go there often, but since the Coronavirus problem started I'm stranded in Europe :(
This is car buying knowledge 101, everyone thinking of buying any car should learn or know this. Great instructed in the video. Never trust the seller right of the bat if they try to make any excuses if you find something noteworthy either...
Cool vid. I had an AP1 S2000 for a while and they are great cars and lots of fun. That example definately had a couple more extra goodies than mine did. Looks sweet! :)
beautiful yellow S2000 ...love its front look especially muscular fenders . keep on coming with such content .Also include other JDM sports saloon as well
You completely missed the fact there was rust in that boot. The rust was coming through the boot lining. Exactly the same thing happened with mine as the previous owner must have had water sitting in the bottom or it was damp for a while and never dried. You could also see there was rust underneath when you looked at the two bungs on the floor of the boot. There was rust showing around it. TO have a real look from under the car you need to pull away the underseal its been coated with and this will show the true answer as well as taking the boot lining out at the top. Not a difficult fix to cut and weld but it is worth noting.
Dear Cap n albo carry on for the best video is only ur both channels I can see after I lost my car 🚗 and still waiting when can I back to this yellow green road….
@@deet4895 that means we can't import any of these JDMs anymore. Not many S2000, GTR or other JDMs were imported 15-20 years ago. I can find 2-3 listings of each models in the entire country. :(
This video was a great watch especially as an avid S2000 fan. My '02 is currently sleeping in the garage :) thanks for sharing! Loved the point made about the horizontal vs diagonal bumper line.
