My co-worker is also a veterinarian and was telling me a really graphic and sad story about a dog last friday, and I passed out and threw up. They called the ambulance because they thought i had a seizure, and now im embarrassed to go back.

No need to be embarrassed. This is something that happens to everyone at some point.

This happened to me while working and I was about 30 weeks along as well. I was supporting someone while they were grocery shopping in a Food Lion. Afterwards, I was so embarrassed and didn't return to that FL for atleast 3 years. The main office called my emergency contact and everyone freaked out. 911 was called and I had to stay overnight at the hospital. It was basically a perfect storm they said from being dehydrated and my bp dropping. The only other times this has happened is when I've donated plasma. There is a note now saying to not even call and ask me to donate lol.

It happened to me today for the first time. I wasn't laid flat on the ground when I got dizzy and I thought the lightheadedness will disappear on it's own, which was a big mistake. So I fainted on the chair, and luckily the nurse was strong enough to prevent me from sliding down from the chair and hurting myself. The next thing I remember was two nurses holding my legs, while one sprinkled water on my face.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! This happened to my 30 week pregnant wife today and scared the shit out of me. hasn't happened to her in many years before we even met so I wasn't sure what to expect. All this well, I got her up and called medical personal. Her and the baby are fine! Thanks for the knowledge to make this an easy experience for me if this ever happens again in the future! GOD BLESS!

My son cut his thumb last week and while I was cleaning it I saw him dripping sweat and his arm felt chilled. Knew what was coming next. I laid him on the floor of the bathroom (eww) but next he was saying he was nauseous so I knew I made the right choice. We used frozen veggies and opened the window. I'll know next time to elevate the legs not just the cut. Lol. Thanks!

Jeez Doc you and your team are so funny 😂 I love you guys. I actually suffer with this affliction quite frequently (every time I go to the doctor) so I figure it must be a phobia thing and apologize each time it happens. But they are so used to it now they basically do the appointment at Dr Horowitz with me lying down LOLOL

I've been experiencing this more often in last 2 years but can't pin point the trigger. Sometimes it's like you said, it happens for no reason at all. I am on 10mg Lexipro so it could be anxiety. It comes on while I'm at work and in a sitting position, but I don't feel as though I'm having high anxiety in that particular moment. It does comes on slow and I am able to recognize the symptoms and lay down right away. It passes but is still a very uncomfortable feeling. Especially when trying to just get through my days work. Thanks for you explanation and tips regarding the matter.

My cardiologist said that not everyone has NCS. They did a tilt table test on me and it was a high positive for NCS. I have symptoms daily from it. I don’t always pass out, but I have passed out many many times. Keeping the head safe is correct because I ended up with a TBI from passing out. Unfortunately, during that episode the symptoms came on too suddenly and I had no time to react, so you don’t always have time to take these steps. But I learned from that experience and now the second I feel any symptoms I get on the floor. I didn’t know about lifting the legs to help restore blood flow, I’ll make sure to do that next time. Thanks!

Lay down on your back, raise your feet in the air and keep them there or do leg raises. It worked for me today while getting a needle.

I'm lucky if I get any warning at all. I usually get VS as a bad reaction to local anesthetics.

Tips for Managing Vasovagal Response: Stay Hydrated: Ensure adequate fluid intake, especially in hot weather, to prevent dehydration, a common trigger for vasovagal responses. Avoid Prolonged Standing:If possible, avoid standing for extended periods. If unavoidable, periodically tighten thigh, glute, and abdomen muscles. Additionally, clench your fists and toes to promote blood circulation. Controlled Breathing: Practice controlled breathing to help manage stress and maintain composure. Inhale deeply for 4 seconds. Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Exhale slowly for 4 seconds.

I was donating blood for the first time yesterday and passed out when the bag a little past half full. I'm not scared of needles or blood and I ate enough calories before donating. Could it have been that I have low blood sugar sometimes? Also, the girl next to me said I was convulsing (a strong word to use). What could that mean??? Is that bad or a sign of something bad internally?

I had an episode and fell and hit my head . I was bleeding on the floor in a restaurant. Do you recommend medical alert bracelets for this? Happens to me once or twice a year
@RealPlasticsDoc

It really depends on how often this happens and what the reason is- I would definitely recommend seeing a physician in person for any sort of medical concern!

I did not faint but was on the verge of fainting if intervention had not taken place. Let me know if these symptoms resonate with you. Donated whole blood for the first time and towards the end of it I started not feeling so well. Blurred vision and the room getting darker, hot, sweaty, clammy, feeling lightheaded suddenly, a wave of panic rushed over me. Immediately they adjusted my head to lie all the way flat down and my legs still elevated so the blood would rush to my head. They placed ice packs on my chest and back and that was very soothing. They told me to keep my eyes open and to snack on some pretzels and drink some water if I wanted. The staff was awesome, super quick and attentive but truthfully the best thing was simply there reassurance that everything was going to be okay and that this was completely normal and can happen to first time donors. Unsure what triggered my vasavagal syncope. Im not afraid of needles or blood. I ate breakfast and ate right before and during. Stayed hydrated. My iron level checked out great and if anything, my blood pressure was slightly elevated as I was anxious. Hopefully this traumatic first time experience won't discourage me to donate in the future.

Vasovagal syncope is an autonomic disregulation. It can be triggered by a variety of stimuli, ie a direct stimulation of perivascular nerves around a vein with a blood draw, a sight sound even a smell

So once I was feeling..weird during dinner, and I stood up to put my food away or something. Next thing I know is I'm on the floor and everyone seems really upset about something. This kept happening every time I'd try to stand up I think ten times or os. I don't remember most of them, what with being unconscious and all. But I remember the last one. When the ambulance got here and I agreed to go to the hospital, I stood up and then I was being lifted into the ambulance on a gurney. The doctors couldn't figure out why it happened. It had never happened before, and it never happened again. it was really weird. After a couple hours i was able to stand up fine again and just.. went home. And its just funny cause everyone else was way more upset than me, because of course I didn't remember passing out. XD

@Skinny909
@Skinny909 Месяц назад
The only way to prevent it in my opinion is to just lie down works the best honestly been passing out since 13 years old and this has been very helpful and of course to stay really hydrated and drink lots of electrolytes and for me I have to stay in cool places and never hot 🙏😊
@RealPlasticsDoc
@RealPlasticsDoc 22 дня назад
@@Skinny909you’re right, can’t really prevent it all the time. You can avoid the things that stimulate the response if you know what it is, for example seeing blood or standing stiffly in a hot place for too long. But in reality, we all experience this type of syncope sometimes and it’s good to be prepared if it happens to you or someone near you.

This is a serious issue. Why all the comedy? My wife saw your video because I started to develop cough syncope. She's scared as hell when it happens to me. Luckily, I've been seated when it has happened. Don't get me wrong, I like to have fun, but your co-workers are acting like children in the video. Take it down or do another video. I would never go to your practice if my health was thought of as a joke.
