One of the most difficult situations I encounter is when a family member is trying to help someone who doesn’t want help (or doesn’t think they need help). And while there might be great intentions behind trying to force a loved one to get help, it generally drives both parties nuts.
And the longer this conflict goes on, a larger and larger strain grows on the relationship and in the homelife. Which is why in this final part of our series I wanted to discuss some things you can do (and should consider) when someone you know is refusing to get help.
Enjoy!

Very good points! Be careful with the education when dealing with partner/spouse... They may not want to hear it and you need to stop. For some of us it's really easy to give advice and educate, but I've learned my lesson. Be the partner who does *not* criticize or give out unsolicited advice. Period. Personally the key points of your video may be: limiting the accommodation, and setting boundaries. I love your topic on secondary gains. It may be easier in parent/child dynamic, but it's also possible with spouses - not easy, but possible. You need to help your partner find a reason to get help.

What if you pushed them out, lost their job, and didn't tell anyone, and punished himself for a year, paid rent with his savings, barely talked to his roommates, and rarely ate - very emaciated? He said he was punishing himself. He went to the doctor alone and didn't tell him about the past year. He was told to eat more. He is now closer to us. We asked him to manage a property and live in one part of it. He is working part-time and going to school part-time, doing better. The rest of the time he is in his room. I'm afraid if we kick him out, he will tank again.

Please list a number as my family member is in a crisis. They have isolated in home due to Covid for years. No one allowed in the house except wife and after two years grandma. Nothing allowed in the house until stored in garage and washed. Please, please help! Toddler involved! Feb 2023

I suffer from axiety. My brother suffers from religious ocd. I can see the fear in his eyes everyday. But as more time goes on, he believes its his relationship with god, and not his ocd that is the problem, and refuses help...Im worried if i kick him out he will suffer even more by himself. He left the house before and came back home after a year even worse and in tatters...Ive heard of people who cant even eat thinking that they are sinning. Im also afraid if i dont accomadate and dont try to get him to work on time and he loses their job, he will fall into a worse state... stuck in his room and worsening his ocd. This has happened before and he was suffering so much we did everything to get him a new job. He refuses to take his medication from now on.. do i still kick him out? What if it gets worse and he has no where to go but on the streets
