The problem with the roundabout at 8 minutes, its because you first ctrl+shift clicked to make it a priority rounabout and then added another lane^^ you gotta remove the keep in lane lines first

You are talking the lane connectors, aren't you? I observed this happen a lot. Until I do not delete the TM settings for the whole roundabout, there still persists strange behaviour. You have to remove the TM settings for the roundabout road, then re-do the auto-roundabout-setup

If anyone knows about moving a lot of people it's China. Beijing metro has 2 concentric looping trains and a mass of intertwined trains so basically you there are infinite possible loops, if you wanted. It's a crazy map.

you're also assigning uneven load on that double-station construct: Station A has the circle line, the intercity and the mountain-line. Station B has only the circle line. If you connected teh mountain line to station B, then the train traffic would spread more evenly between those 2 stations making train-jams less likely and giving you better throughput on station A

You didn't really fix the trains. That huge loop that goes around the city could have started and ended on the same platform and you could have used the second platform for International Trains only. Also if you get trains to go around in loops but then have other trains come into the station from the other direction, they will eventually get stuck. The best way to avoid that would be to use multiplatform single entrance stations.

The reason the round-about is a bit iffy at 8:10 is because there is lane connectors across the intersection in the round-about to the bypass road.

Maybe something that might smooth out the trains: make it an actual loop, going both directions: at the moment you leave in on station and it arrives and goes back out on the other side of the street. They intermingle with interntionall trains and then there is the one going back and forth up the hill mixed in as well. I say: complete the loop, put the international one at the other one with the one goin up the hill, going bakg and forth from the other side, s othere can be no more congestion. Also the roundabout on the bottom: you could close the link to the left side from the highway and let them come in at groundlevel on the bottom. also the roundabout on top: maybe you could turn it into an ovalabout and let the up-and-down and left-and-right streets come in on their own.

I've been thinking this ever since he redesigned the station! It's an easy way to separate the intercity and local trains, and stop them from getting in each other's way. The problem wasn't too many vehicles, but that intercity trains are clogging up the local tracks

Looks at Moscow where we have 4 concentric automobile circle roads, metro circle line in the central area, a bigger electric train circle line in the middle and now the second BIG metro circle is on it's way. Moscow is really into circles :D

There's the Yamanote Line which is a loop that links all the main terminus stations round the city centre. In London, the Overground forms a sort-of loop, but to do full laps of the loop you would need to change at Highbury & Islington and Clapham Junction.

check the train station near the airport. I think there is a mark there to accept trains from other cities. so all orange trains travel through the first station throughout the city - make a circle to get to the airport

Telling you Biffa, this is hitting very close to home. What was it with these old maps we did huh? Awesome mini-series. Maybe you should remake a city in this map later (Maybe after New-Tealand) and see where we go. Could be inspired by this one (train station one asset, alcatraz island, those nice skycrapers) and try to make a non-grid as beautiful as you can second version of this city. On to the next one !

Biffa, I think your exernal train line is connected to the internal one as the last stop (if I remember correctly from the last video). I think if you disconnect that one, making it strictly intercity, then you can have a closed loop with the other station as beginning and end, if that makes sense! then they only need to cross the street and your trains should bunch up less!

Question -- when cars/trucks spawn leaving a commercial or industrial building, do they always spawn in the outer lane? If so, does preventing lane-changing along that road prevent them from being able to get to a left-turn lane then? I mean it works great on highways, but no one is spawning along a highway. I'm curious how the car spawning and lane restrictions interact in the zoned areas. I seem to remember seeing in a video a few weeks ago, there being an issue once with a protected-bike lane road preventing emergency vehicles from being able to spawn, because the bike lane was closest to the building and the vehicles couldn't spawn within that lane and cross out of it... Is that still an issue that we could encounter?

About the trains. If you still have them backing up, try removing the small ones since they are another length and thus could be screwing with your rail intersections.

For trains, anywhere there is a junction, set up give way signs. Also, put give ways at the entrances to stations.

You should be able to use dedicated lanes with the bus lanes. I think in the settings for that mod, you can turn on buses specifically can ignore dedicated lanes to keep your routes moving.

Just noticed that the 4-lane road running in front of the new location for the Space Elevator ends in a 2-lane, 1-way road heading toward the elevator. So the two other lanes of the 4-lane aren't connected to anything between the elevator and that ending connection. Might want to look at that connection and see if you either need to change the section of 4-lane to something else, or let the two unused lanes connect to provide another traffic route.

That last crosswalk! I was getting annoyed you didn't put it in and then you do. Niiice. Still potential for pedestrian improvements at the stations tho: 27:19 add a pedestrian overpass (or underpass, but over is more fun since it lets us see the people!) just to the right of the stations, going all the way from past the streets above and below the stations, with connections down to street level on both sides of that inner street. A more direct route than going via the roundabouts, and more direct route for pedestrians = more pedestrians!

In thinking of this I see the need for a new asset: a pedestrian (or shared use) path turning slope, i.e. a tight 180° or even 360° turn that goes from ground level to high enough to go over a normal ground level street or rail line. Tight as can be while still looking realistic. We have many of these in real life in my city. being able to plop one in that's the right height & radius & slope would be nice. My computer sucks way too bad to be able to create this tho, so: everyone feel free to create it!

I've seen plenty of loop trains. I think the one thing you could work on with your transit biffa is to let people get to where they want to with one or two transfers. Often times they need to switch trains like 5-8 times which would be really awful to use.

The problem with the trains are the international trains (if I make an educated guess), they don't stop at the station but need to pass through, they have no way around what was the most busy station. You should either make traintracks for passing the station, or make the international trains only stop at a specific station where people can transfer into the local trains.

The trains bunched up because both the 'loop', the mountain and the intercity trains use the same station. Move the loop line from the mixed station Connect to go on to the other station and you can either keep it as open loop or do 2 full circle lines...

All the trains seemed to be waiting for the same platform. Could you put in a larger station with more platforms, or look at alternating platforms for different trains?

The problem is he doesn't actually have a loop. The intercity trains come in at, we'll call it station A. The train line within the city also starts at station A but ends at station B across the road. So when trains come are getting stuck coming into the station cause they have to wait for the previous train to change rails and then leave.

8:30 It's almost like it's trying to maximize the distance cars have to get into the correct lane for the short road section with no internal node that also has dedicated turning lanes. Are roundabout junctions always "pick your lane" on exiting?

When you placed the metro entrance by the two train terminals you deleted the rail line coming out of the one side. So they are all funneled into the one terminal that was closest to the space elevator, but great vid. Thank you

Biffa, the issue is that everyone that sends you their map to fix has a Biffa to watch to get a good idea, however Biffa didn't have a Biffa to watch when you were building your cities. So yeah your city is going to be harder to fix LOL.

Biffa u need more train tracks just build more paralel tracks and split up your lines onto those and one big train station instead of those two otherwise u will always end up having too many trains on one track ;) also u cant switch the dedicated lane cause u have a hugothere on there ;)

If you add more roads to the roundabout you need to delete the line connectors which CTRL+SHIFT+LBM does. Which you didn't, so the cars won't use it, cause you order them to go straight.

Why you replaced a T-junction for a roundabout? In the end you just traded one t-junction for 3 t-junctions, in a tight space... Instead of a roundabout, just expand the node with the node controller, make a very large and smoothie (maybe max size) t-junction.

Yes and no. The Cathcart circle line isn't a circle, it's a teardrop. Trains run in and out of Glasgow central on the same lines and _then_ go left or right around the loop bit. The Glasgow Subway (aka the Clockwise Orange), on the other hand, is topologically a perfect circle!

I'd replace the train station accepting intercity trains with a double-track station; connect one of the tracks to the outside and the other to the city network

That double station should instead be the 6-line through terminal with the integrated metro station. It would simplify the roads and reduce the number of buildings needed and increase the possible train connections.

Hey Biffa, the problem with your trains is caused by one simple fact. you removed the train tracks when you moved the metro station to the middle. Now your all of your trains can only come in to your intercity station, instead of the one which has no intercity trains.

Well 13:53 the idea is great only they can't cross the road fast from intercity to local trains so they have to go all the way to roundabouts.

WHat about using a street with a grass or tree median between the 2 stations so people are not able to cross the streets directly. This way the traffic is distributed to both ends. And if needed an overpass can be included.

Also, whoever said a loopy train line isn’t a thing? Tokyo has one, called the Yamanote line, it’s the main artery of the city! 4.5 million riders per day in 2018, and that’s on a line that during rush hour is 200% full! 30 stations are on it though, and downtown Tokyo has a population of about 8 million, with the greater area being 35 million

Why not convert the stations into 1 multi platform station, then split the loop in half do x amount go north and x go south, and we keep the loop to the airport, also standardise the trains to 1 type as the varying length seems to be causing issues
