Hi Mihal, thnx for updating . . . I have been 5 years after surgery (bilateral fracture of the left ankle - slipping on the ice while running). In total I had 3 surgeries. Your videos helped me a lot to get back in shape. The ankle is not as before but not bad at all. I can run 10km very easy and I do not feel any issues while running. But after sports the ankle stiffens. So when I start walking in the morning it takes me 3-5 steps to work it out. All the best to you and to you guys who are watching Mihel`s! youtube!!!
Wow, awesome progress Martin! 3 surgeries sounds crazy - I'm so sorry you went through that. Have you tried massage at all? It sounds like it could help with the stiffness after sports and potentially the morning stiffness too. All my best to you!!
I am 9 months post surgery from ankle orif surgery both sides of ankle. Your videos bring somewhat of a relief. I am still massaging my ankle, I'm still going 2 theraphy 2x/month. I know I have a long way to go and hope to God I will one day feel almost normal on that ankle. Some days are better than others. I have resorted to use supportive sneakers to walk around which helps a lot. Still in pain, tightness, swelling and limping.. Gob bless.
Ugh, I'm so sorry. It's definitely a journey. Do your best not to limp though! See this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bbw4-iKToso.html
I broke my ankle 10 months ago. Its swollen every day. It sucks because I am a hard working guy who really needs my ankle. I’m looking at removing the screws. Thank you for your work on all of this on the internet. Really! Thank you! I just woke up at 2 o’clock in the morning to go to the bathroom and couldn’t walk there. It takes like 10 minutes for stuff to warm up and get lose. I watched your video and realized I gotta get more serious about this. Just bought a slant board on Amazon. Going to find a massage therapist. Any advice on finding a massage therapist?
Oh man, finding a massage therapist is very trial and error. But one place I'd start is googling things like "myofacial release" or "sports massage" - that might help direct your search a little. If you can't find anyone like that, really any great massage therapist will know how to keep the muscles and fascia moving, encourage blood and lymph circulation, etc. Definitely a good thing to explore, congrats on your next move!!
🙏🏼🙏🏼 i broke my ankle had a shattered complex fracture i had surgery and got 4 plates with many screws.. The doctor said i may never run again ... Plz pray for me
i tried my best to type up those questions while off the pain medication at about 3 or 4 am sorry lmfao reading it back im realizing it makes almost no sense, to the point where even i dont know what i was trying to ask. in any case thanks for making the follow up vid and if i can think of anything else to ask ill def come back and edit this comment. have a safe and happy new year !
@@brokenankleclub hey i know its been a while since I last posted but are you able to run and jump normally or close to normal or fine ever since healing the ankle?
@@mihal.freinquel thanks so much for the answer I really do appreciate it. I’m about to be 3 months post op just a little curious. Thinking about a military career,if possible, and was just wondering. Maybe a year from now I’ll be able to fully run and jump. Also any advice for weight bearing? Doc said 25% 1st week. I’m in the second week doing 50% now. How often were you up and moving and actually bearing weight? I’m usually in bed or sitting down for the majority of the day. Since he recommended weight bearing I have been making an effort to get more active. Thanks again :)
So on the day you posted this, I suffered my own tri-mal fracture while hiking and am now recovering from ORIF surgery. My specific question to you is... are you able to now hike confidently on different surfaces, steep angles, etc? Wondering if this will ever be part of my life again. Thank you for your videos which are ministering to me at this stage of recovery!
Oh Carren I'm so sorry you're going through this! Yes - now (and for several years now) I'm able to confidently hike and be on different surfaces and not think about or feel my ankle. You'll get there! Thank you for saying my videos are "ministering" - that's so kind. I'm actually in the process of creating a whole new website, complete with tips, tricks and interviews with experts - so I'll be sure to let you guys know when that's live. Best of luck to you!
Thank you for this!!! I broke my ankle in Feb (lateral and posterior malleolus) and had ORIF to repair. I have lost some range of movement, and have some mild crunchiness from time to time, but I'm mostly back to normal. Except for still having one super skinny leg. How long did it take you to recover your muscle tone in your bad leg?
Hi Ani! First of all, don't call it a bad leg! We love both our legs and they're both good :) I can't remember exactly how long, but once I started bearing weight (about 2 months post-op), most of hit happened naturally over a couple months. I made walking a priority and also did calf exercises to help (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4s1BG2yZ9Zk.html). I know it feels really intense when you see how teeny it looks, but regular exercise over time will help even it out.
Thank GOD you're still doing this lol. Fractured my fibula + tibia, did the whole cast, to the crutches, to the crutches and the boot, to one crutch and the boot, to no crutches but a cane and the boot, to no crutches no cane, but still in the boot, to finally NO boot. Top to bottom, injury to NO boot and back in my shoes...3mos. My ankle has given me no pain, leg and ankle and foot strength is coming back BUT...there is still some foot tightness. Almost like when your hands or fingers get stiff and you have to lightly crack your knuckles.. (not that I do that but, best I could describe it lol). Just wondering if the foot tightness wears off ?! I've only been walking on my own for a handful of days so...guess everything will loosen up fully, soon.
Ugh, that foot tightness is what I was referring to in this video, and I think my video from 1 or 2 years ago too. I've found foot tightness to be hard to shake - but massage does help, as does regular stretching and walking. Have you also tried toe spreaders? Those feel good.
@@brokenankleclub Haven’t tried toe spreaders but I will. And stretching, I can definitely do more. Massage, I can try that also. I’ve been riding my bike + walking tho, feels good. Just gonna continue, but increase the stretching + massaging. Thanks for responding !
Hi- I’m about to start weight bearing after 6 weeks - I’m very worried about the pain I might get when I start to weight bear big. Can you let me know how much pain (1-10 when 10 is agony) you got when you started to walk again. Thanks for all your videos very helpful x
Hi there! I don't think it can really be described in a 1-10 scale, it changed all the time. But I will say, I actually fount the pain from walking way more satisfying than the pain from just sitting around doing nothing. I knew that I was making progress, and could back off and ice/elevate whenever I needed to. So get excited! It's about to get fun!
@@brokenankleclub thanks so much - I really appreciate your wise words! My foot feels healed so I can’t wait for them to say to start to put weight on it. I’ll take the pain if I can walk again! X
hii :) i was just watching your videos about your ankle, on christmas i fractured my left ankle while skipping ( last year i sprained my left ankle while skating and it healed after three weeks ) but i have the surgery for it wednesday where the put the plate in with some screws, and honestly im TERRIFIED and im only 13
Oh man I'm so sorry! Well, what's awesome about being 13 is that you'll heal faster and stronger than the rest of us :) You got this. One day at a time - have patience with yourself.
