As an LTC owner for years now. The "training" does not make anyone safer with a firearm. It does make them more informed of the laws. But the process it takes to go through getting your finger prints done. Paying for the 5-8 hour class. And waiting for it before you can carry, would deter a lot of would be criminals from carrying into a public place because that was illegal before without the license. For what it's worth though, who am I to tell a person they can't protect themselves by any means necessary as long as they are following the law?

Criminals are armed. They don't follow law they are CRIMINALS. You might think you are anti-gun, but finding out you are pro gun / pro self defense when it's to late is a scary place to be. Buy a firearm, learn how to properly use it. Just about every gun range out there has training. DO IT. Enjoy your rights and protect life! That's Texas. Criminals will be armed no matter what, protect you, protect your family!

Too bad if you’re 18-20 years old you’re practically a second class citizen and can’t enjoy this right until the arbitrary age of 21. But hey, you can sign binding contracts, gamble and enlist in your military at 18, but you can’t defend yourself or those you love in public apparently.

I was an anti gun demoncrat in San Francisco until I got mugged in Oakland. Glad I made it back in Texas or I would easily be homeless in the Bay Area. I hope Constitutional Carry will prevent less liberals in Texas, if you know the housing market, half are Californians, it's a fact and most will not switch party, they love spending.

The only people speaking out is probably a crappy gun store who overcharges there customers that are now worried that another part of their revenue is being taken away. I still recommend the training just get it from someone who doesn't charge you $300 bucks for 3 hours of a lecture to get told there isn't enough ammo to do the shooting portion of the class today....

For lots of folks who are worried about Texans not needing to 'go through a process/class' before carrying, there are many outlets where folks can receive training besides the weekend CCW classes. Many are former or current soldiers. Yep, we got training in the military. Some are former LEO's. We got lots of training there. Then, there's even the Boy Scouts from years ago teaching firearm safety. Numerous hunter safety classes that are much, much longer than the required CCW classes. The toughest training of all is from parents, grampa or Uncle Cletus who would thwak you on the head if you messed up or didn't keep the barrel downrange. Firearm safety can come from many, many directions. And, to all those who commented that bad guys with guns won't--have never--will never--care one whit about any law at any time, I agree. I'll bet crime will go down. Oklahoma has had a permit-less carry for some while and the numbers of violent crimes did not increase. Didn't. Permit-less carry really isn't something to get overly concerned about.

Constitutional Carry is currently in 27 states and hopefully will eventually be in all states. S.C. may become the 28th. Criminals and felons don't respect the laws that restrict them from carrying a gun and are the main ones to worry about. And decent law abiding citizens, who already really have the right to own and carry one, according to The Nations Constitution, shouldn't have to get permission from government on this and then pay for a license or permit & then wait for it to come while being unprotected sitting ducks for criminals.

Don't need a licence to buy a firearm, y should an individual need a LTC ...?. If ppl need training to carry . Then ppl should get training when purchasing a firearm. All laws made pursuant to 2A r unconstitutional.

Yup its not an absolute law....THere are places u cant carry. Many private business have signs that say where u can carry concealed and/or openly. THose signs are state law...gotta abide by them or its considered a misdemeanor

It sucks that another man or woman feels they can tell another man or woman how , when and where they can and can not carry anyway!! Most don't have ill intent with their weapons and we should be able to carry anywhere. Whats in my pockets or anyone else's pocket is no one else's Buisness!

Requiring citizens to have a license to carry is more dangerous to the citizens than having constitutional carry laws, because that heavily implies that the minimum requirements to carry a firearm to stop learning and training to carry it after getting the license. Thus, what citizens should learn that learning to defend themselves with a firearm is a never ending process, and should have a right to continuously train with constitutional carry laws.
