NO definitely not. You may be ready, but your teacher must be there to teach you proper technique. Everything is different en pointe, turning, walking, EVERYTHING. Men can go en pointe, many companies have let them, yet they still need a teacher. I wish you the best of luck! 💕

I was watching the “black swan” today and couldnt stop wondering why men never wear pointe. Is it considered feminine in the ballet world? And are you now going on pointe aswell? Im a 19 y/o female and after yeaaaaard of figure skating i want to start ballet so bad

12 years old is good, only if your teacher says you're ready

Lovell Mendez Nope, you will be able to achieve pointe quicker than younger children, but you will need at least 2-3 years of ballet classes at least 3 times a week minimum. Some people are able to go on pointe quicker, or later, but that’s different from person to person. Edit: Also make sure that you don’t get pointe shoes before your teacher says you’re ready! You could break something and end up never being able to dance on pointe! But, I do hope you do well, enjoy it.

Lovell Mendez I guess to some degree it is possible, but many ballet teachers strongly recommend against it. Besides you will also need at least about 2-3 years training in flat ballet shoes, so you can have a decent foundation in point.

I would caution you to see your doctor first before starting pointe at this age. Have your doctor assess whether or not the bones in your feet have finished growing before doing any pointe work.

It depends you might not have strong ankles or a goof point or turnout,etc

you've been patient till now, you should keep it up i think ^^ if your teacher really doesn't care as you say (i trust you, i don't know her) you can maybe take other classes with an other teacher if u can. however if i were you i wouldn't quit and do my own practice because i would learn so much slower than with a teacher. i swear i regretted. i guess u talked to her about the reasons why she did that but i noticed ballet teachers are pretty stubborn. anyways, whatever you choose, i wish you best luck, bravery and happiness in whatever you'll do in your life.
