Going solar in Texas is more complex than the average state. There are hardly any statewide, uniform standards for going solar. Each, city, utility company, and co-op has their own set of specific codes.
Larsen Wilkes has been serving the Texas market for 8 years. I had been searching for months for an honest and knowledgable solar consultant based in Texas and I am so glad we met. Larsen is extremely knowledgeable and a great overall guy. Call for a solar consultation from a great solar consultant representing great solar installers near you.
In this video we talk about several topics. This video contains what you must know when going solar in Texas and how to spot solar scams. Reach out for solar consulting in Texas.
Would you like to get started with a consultation? If so, then please fill out the form in the link below. Once received, my assistant Cody will call you back afterwards to explain next steps in receiving a thorough consultation and quote from us. Thank you for watching the channel.

SnoMageddon was largely caused by uninsulated natural gas lines that the liquid natural gas frozen within the distribution pipeline for powerplants that were backups to the main grid. As the mains failed, the backups could do almost nothing to offset the outages. The governor declared an emergency, got emergency powers, and part of the bump in price was to cover the massive costs of wrapping pipes in basic insulation. In 2024 similar weather came and did not cause the same issues, due to the insulation and other grid improvements.

I lived through what I've called "IceMageddon", because the real problem was the ice and not the snow. We were without power for an entire week, and also without water for most of that time. What saved our lives was natural gas. That was our fireplace, and our cooktop. We were able to keep one room in the house at a livable temperature. We were able to take snow and ice from our yard to make water that we could use to drink, or to flush the toilet. We live at the top of one of the steepest hills in Austin, so there's no way we could have safely gotten out of the neighborhood. We were stuck, and we would have died if it weren't for our natural gas appliances. We definitely want a generator. That's our next major purchase. Solar and batteries would be after the generator.

The real failure for "IceMageddon" was the natural gas plants and their fuel plants failing. They came very close to losing all natural gas supplies, not just for the gas peaker plants.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience in detail. I’m personally all for a 3 layer system consisting of solar, batteries, and a generator. So glad you had a generator!!

THE CORRECT WORD IS NOT "SOFTWARES"!!! Call them "software packages", or "software systems", or "software programs", BUT NOT "SOFTWARES"!!!

I can buy a large capacity solar battery system that is far less expensive than what you are talking about in this video. Why would the Texas dude say that? Here is one example only. EG4 PowerPro ESS | 14.3 - 28.6kWh Capacity | EG4-18Kpv & EG4-PowerPro WallMount Battery | 9540 Pending $13,989.00 Your Price: $13,489.00, less than $10k for the single battery system so why wouldn’t I buy the double battery?

There are tons of “cheap” batteries on the market. There are only a handful of high quality options that installers are actually getting behind and are becoming certified installers for. Enphase being one of them. There are A TON of issues with batteries still and so the most proven products with compatible softwares are what we are recommending. We need to be able to service all of these products as well so contractors need to choose a few and specialize in them. 99.9% of the population should not be attempting DIY systems.

He also mentioned that most cheap quotes don't include the automatic transfer switch and the critical loads panel, which adds $5-6k more to the quoted price. So that alone would account for the price difference between EG4 and Enphase.

I am really disappointed because he does not talk about San Antonio where we have NO choice with our power company. I just moved here and am very upset that my electric company is a monopoly which is totally un American! I know exactly what I want. 18 400 watt panels with Enphase 8+ mocro inverters with Enphase combiner box and a 14.5.kWh battery for $19K

The solar by itself will probably be around there or a couple grand more depending on several factors. The battery will be more though

He hates PPA’s lol
@Superiorsolarconsulting
@Superiorsolarconsulting 10 месяцев назад
I don’t hate PPA’s’s. I hate how they are sold and how people are manipulated into going with that option simply because the sales rep will make a larger commission when they will do better with a purchase. I do not know many circumstances besides people retired with no taxable income, and no plans to give the house to a loved one that would benefit from a PPA more than buying it. Sure, debt to income can be an issue and I understand certain people are unable to qualify for loans but hardly any salespeople pushing PPA’s even understand what they are selling or they are putting on their sales face and not really acting in the interest of the customer.
