Every utility company has a different net energy metering agreement (NEM) and it's crucial to understand how yours works in order to know if solar is going to actually make sense for you and how to design the system to achieve your goals.
Would you like to get started with a consultation? If so, then please fill out the form in the link below. Once received, my assistant Cody will call you back afterwards to explain next steps in receiving a thorough consultation and quote from us. Thank you for watching the channel.

Xcel Energy in the Denver area just switched over to time-of-use. It seems to be a 1:1 return via 'solar credits', although there is very little information out there because the change just happened. I'll have to check my bill over the next couple of months to know for sure. I had a solar+battery system installed because this allows me to run during a power outage, and because we'll probably follow California with NEM 3.0 soon enough. Also, my graphs look like that until you add in the electric car. My nighttime energy use is often way higher than daytime. I expect lots of utility changes as electric cars become more common.

This chart you have used before really is THE best visual to explain "Net" metering. My Dad used to say: "You know when someone really understands something complicated because they can explain it to others that don't understand in such a simple way the listener Gets It!"

More batteries solves it , my next purchase 700+ah with a backup generator btw choose the automatic transfer switch but my book Solar Independent Utility Systems Manual preferred independence and I do cover grid tie Just know with a grid tie system if you choose no battery backup then if the grid fails so goes your power so I strongly recommend stand alone systems . Efficiency is a must I recommend the 2watt led 12 v light to start with add a 12 v on demand water pump for lights and running water ! Best wishes

Yes more batteries solves it as long as you have enough excess production. And yes we offer both grid tied for self consumption only and full home backup

@@Superiorsolarconsulting wondering if your systems are making the most for the least for a few examples 12 volt 2 watt led lights 12 volt on demand water pump 12 volt lp gas / electric fridge Then onto bigger loads like ac running under 500 watts off a 2000 watt pure sine wave with the Automatic bypass switch I found extremely useful It also being a pure sine wave is fantastic for 120 volt induction cooker that stopped all propane for cooking and was under $50 So I like dependable first cheaply overall However I see the only way to totally get free ac is using geothermal also fantastic for preheating in winter . Even have had fantastic success with the deep freezer that uses 50 watts while running and a 400 watt surge so got a designated pure sine wave 400 watt inverter that is used solely for that appliance. Have other small inverters for security that powers cameras . Been at this for about three decades now First disconnected before Y2k scare but I did it because my first 600$ electric bill So 18 to 50 using Solar power! Family laughed at me when I came home after a 2nd grade class I said mom dad why don’t we run our house off the sun had he listened to me he still would be living there instead lost it all. He lives in a apt I live on my property I own in a house I own with cars I own. Solar is like a big boost to your bank act . First system I had too many batteries not enough Solar Today it’s the opposite so Live and learn Trying to get the numbers down to better know exactly how to measure both incoming watts to store in the proper battery bank . Been a learning experience all along the way . If the sky’s are blue today I’ll be using ac off the sun along with everything else while conditions are perfect. Why I need more storage Hopefully your utilizing the best of all worlds Edison Tesla and Franklin taught us !

Between NEM 3.0 in California and solar companies like Sunrun ripping people off with their crooked solar leases, solar systems can be a financial nightmare for homeowners. If you stick with a company like Julian Solar and just buy the system, you end up paying about half the price.

Now in California with the new Nem 3.0 taking place, for new solar owner, how is the metering system work? Are they using the net metering calculation daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even annually to determine how many Kwhr you owe or you sold?
@Superiorsolarconsulting
@Superiorsolarconsulting Год назад
The calculation is based on 6 second intervals and you’re billed at the end of each month now instead of annually
@f1176
@f1176 Год назад
Meaning at the end of the month, if I used 100kw and my system generated 110kw, I will get a check for 10kw I sold for $0.75x10=$7.50

It’s Net Billing Tariff now for SDG&E, SCE, and PG&E. Your export rate with any of those companies is closer to .04 to .08 cents per kWh, not .75.
@f1176
@f1176 Год назад
Wow, under nem 3.0, my export rate is only 4 to 8 cents per kilowatt that is almost worth nothing. Installing a solar system under nem 3.0 is definitely a losing deal. Who is going to have a new solar system today?
@matth7469
@matth7469 Год назад
@@f1176 solar is usually still cheaper because the cost per kWh is so high so what you are producing and using is where you win. You aren’t winning on selling back anymore. There are batteries that will essentially help lower your costs as well. Keep in mind the utility companies keep raising their rates. Solar is a long term play that will help reduce costs. You could also build a smaller system at about 80% with no battery, aka “Tier Shaving.” The smaller system will reduce costs for a portion of what you use. You have options.

I'm in SoCal and I really want to go solar and make that investment for the long term. I did wait too long and missed the NEM 2.0 period and it's now gone. However, I still think it makes sense for the long term with battery. I don't want to go too expensive or with a company that's too cheap with terrible service. What company would you recommend in CA for good panels and battery that won't put me in debt for the rest of my life? =)

The main thing is that many customers use EnergySage portal and they just give you a quote with estimates and clients take those numbers for granted also they just measure numbers, not the irradiance and the solar exposure from the positioning of the panels In the roof of the client so when you "show interest" in the quote of an installer company they want to explain you (usually on a videochat) with a formal proposal of the installer company the ACTUAL details of your system ej: system size, type of equipment, annual production, amount of panels and microinverter (or inverters depending on the choosing of the customer) and THE ACTUAL PRICING...and what most of the time happens is that clients are stubborn and are not having it because pretty much the honest installers are overshadowed by the shady ones that lies to customers until they sign a contract then is downhill from there.

its not even worth it to go Solar in california since new law called NEM 3.0 which means if you buy power from your utility company at 0.20 cents after having solar if you sell them same amount of power they will only give you 0.05 cents so pretty a quarter on a dollar before april 2023 it used to be 1 to 1 ratio and loan being so high regardless of your good credit not worth it maybe in the future. and the solar companies sell you $20-25K worth of battery with only 10 year warranty sucky thing is if you really want solar in california right now you have to get battery to run your home in situation when there is no sun just so you can save some money. over all pretty crappy deal if you live in california no matter who you go with SunPower Tesla Sunrun ADT Solar etc.
@Superiorsolarconsulting
@Superiorsolarconsulting 11 месяцев назад
Well first off, dealing with any of the 4 companies you listed is a mistake. Secondly, we are seeing payback periods in the 7-10 year range and that will drop as kWh rates continue to go up. It still very much makes sense.

Off grid only....
@Superiorsolarconsulting
@Superiorsolarconsulting 11 месяцев назад
With battery storage you can pretty much set your system to act as if it’s off grid but most solar systems with storage still utilize about 10-20% grid power and so true off grid is more difficult and usually requires another source of energy, like a generator

I just LAUGH AT NET METERING. iTS SUCH A SCAM FOR FOOLS. iF YOU JUST RUN DIRECT YOU GET THE FULL COST REDUCTION BECAUSE YOU ARE REDUCING YOUR USAGE WHICH THE UTILITIES dont want.

If you just run direct? What do you mean? Net metering is awesome for the person going solar
@fladave99

@@Superiorsolarconsulting Direct off the inverter. I get the full price as a reduction off my bill for power I am not using and no legal hassels. I plug my inverter into a junction box I built and ran romex to a few outlets to important areas like the bathroon, kitchen, bedroom, living room or you can run extension cords. Cutes my bill in half and run it all day long, every day. I have 800 amps of wet cell and when power goes down i am on batteries
@Superiorsolarconsulting
@Superiorsolarconsulting 11 месяцев назад
@@fladave99 I think you’re confused. You would benefit from net metering and would be able to get more out of your system if you could send back what you’re not immediately using for credit you can use at a later time. If anything it’s the utility companies that think it’s a scam because oftentimes the state is forcing them to participate. Utilities don’t want net metering so they can maximize profits from each household. Net metering is what helps Solar make sense without a battery
@fladave99
@fladave99 11 месяцев назад
@@Superiorsolarconsulting I started small and let my solar pay for itself. Cut my cost in half and am still adding to get to zero. I get the full credit because I am saving RETAIL , not wholesale. AND I can use it when power is out. I have no legal, engineering or other costs, nor do I have to drop 25K or more to make it work.
