Where I live, people dress what they want to church. I've seen fishnets, mini skirts, dark styles, punk, e-girl, cosplayers and a lot more. Nobody cares how you dress, because no matter what style you prefer, you only come to church to talk to God.
I wish this was the case here, I once went to this beachy area that had a church nearby, I wore shorts that weren't even that short, they were just above my knee and I wasn't allowed in :(

My mom usually doesn't like us wearing really ripped Jean's tho. Were able to wear ripped Jean's but it has to be little rips. I went to a historically important church (next to a museum that literally had the last supper by Da Vinci, i was just there for the paintings basically) with a classy white dress that was *one inch* shorter than the knees, they called me names and tried to kick me out when there were men with shorts waaaay shorter than my dress. i get that there's a lot of sexism and outdated ideologies in the church system but I was 14 so my legs definitely shouldn't have been seen as something sexual like wtf
Omg yessss. This happened to me as well. I’m an atheist but I really like the architecture of churches or historical buildings especially from the Rokoko era. So I went on a trip with my family and we visited a church there. I knew that it would be a big deal to show my knees or shoulders so I had like a scarf around them. I didn’t want to wear a sweater bc it was extremely hot outside. When we were inside the church immediately a priest approached me and told me to wear something proper and not this slutty dress. I was so devastated and literally started crying as soon as I left. I was 12. That scared me for life. Like wtf is wrong with them
@Charlotte Summers in mosques we must wear hijab if we are praying because it's the relegion culture , but if you are visiting a historical mosque then you don't have to cover your hair it's enough to not show skin more than arms , and i think this is the most respectful way if you are visiting an Islamic place cause basically you are going to a muslim country so you know what kind of culture you are gonna be in , it's shocking to see people insult christians girls who show skin in churches cause basically Christianity isn't that strict about showing skin ( it's kinda strict in some countries and places)and it's the CULTURE again!! The church I go to is full of: -Little kids who wear cute dresses -Youth who wear literally whatever -And really old people who are extremely formal for literally no reason. I mean as long as what your wearing is appropriate it doesn’t matter.
If your church doesnt allow these outfits I'd seriously be considering if they have their priorities right. How you dress doesnt effect your right standing before the Lord. It's purely and simply if you have believed that Jesus came and died for your sins to give you life. If you believe that then that's all that matters. You're a child of God and your future is secure.

That was like my old primary school. A girl was wearing leggings to practice for sports day and they said if she did that again she would be banned from participating. Another time, it was my first week there and my sportswear hadn't arrived yet so I just wore shorts and a polo, yet that wasn't ok (my ever so nice class teacher told my mom that the school doesn't accept that instead of threatening me like other teachers would have). What they were expecting was girls to only wear skirts or dresses. I mean, it wasn't anything inappropriate so why not just let us wear shorts etc 😭 atp I'm glad I left the school

At my church you pretty much wear whatever. Sometimes I go actually churchy like in a dress and sometimes I wear ripped jeans. But God wants you as you are so I don’t stress it
@@ninilovenana Not in the church I used to go to. We weren’t allowed to wear skirts that were above knee length, no jeans/pants, Only skirts for women. No cleavage showing, No tight clothes ( for women) . You were not allowed to show your bare legs, so you had to cover them with thighs. No short sleeved shirts. Also, you had to wear a shirt that was long, around mid thigh, to conceal your curves even more. No Sandals or open shoes. No jewelry, no nail polish. For men, they had to wear pants ( not jeans) and a long sleeved shirt. 😐

I'm a traditional catholic, but also a young adult and I relate with your comment so much, it's a relief to see that I'm not the only one who feels like this. Sometimes it's kinda overwhelming because it's difficult to make friends or having a relationship when you have a strong faith; it becomes lonely but this comment section just made me feel with hope

In my church, we dress in our “most reverent apparel”. This doesn’t necessarily mean dresses or skirts, just something that isn’t like fishnets or cleavage down to your belly button lmao. You should just dress nice bc it’s a special occasion, and if dress pants/blouses are the best clothes you have in your closet then nobody will judge

I have a lot of problems trying to find cute stuff to wear to church, I have no skirts and I'm not allowed to wear cute kinda short shorts there, AND I LITERALLY DONT GO ANYWHERE. I'm homeschooled, so church is the only place I see my friends and I actually want to look good, and won't get questioned why I'm wearing makeup. I really wish I could wear makeup daily..

I’m a part of the worship team and I’ve gone to church wearing dresses at mid thigh (with leggings underneath tho) and all the elderly ladies complemented my dress. Ive gone to church wearing sweatpants and a hoodie and no one has said anything..

I always wear something elegant, but because it rly isn’t about how you dress it’s about getting closer to God, I can sometimes wear some jeans and a cute shirt. As for my shoes I wear the old school style all white checkered vans. 😀👍
they are simple because many Christians believe it is best to dress simply (but still nice!) when going to church. It isn't a matter of whether or not it is fashion, it's more tradition. Although, some churches require closed toe shoes and longer hemlines but that's silly. The purpose is to go and worship the Lord, not be distracted by fashion.

At my church, I always wear nice clothes. Such as dresses, skirts, and jeans with a nice top. Everyone else always just wear denim shorts and a t-shirt. My mom doesn’t let me wear shorts to church.
This morning I went to church for the first time with my grandparents who are watching my brothers and I. I wore denim short shorts, a flannel shirt tied over a tank top, and running shoes. I didn’t know we were supposed to look nice… 😂

Because some people aren’t what they always show others and some are them are sometimes there to destroy our relationship with God on purpose. The church I go to, you can wear what u want. But personally my mom raised me to dress nicely for church and I enjoy it as it is the only day I get to wear my nice clothes.
Since I’m Hindu, I just went to abt 2 churches in 15 years of my life and I went to those churches just to see what a church looks like coz idk, but Hindu temples give u a whole lot of rules too. I’ll tell you some: - U should wear Indian clothing but frocks are allowed. - Ur frock should cross your knees and should not be sleeveless - U can only wear a t-shirt on the condition that you wear a long skirt that reaches to your ankles. - And most importantly, NO SHOES ALLOWED (universal Hindu temple rule) Also, this varies from place to place, sometimes there are no rules at all, but these are the rules in our place.
When my Aunt made me go church with her I just wore black leggings and a cute black sweater btw I'm an atheist and she didnt really make me go she asked if I wanted to and I didnt want to be rude so I went with her anyway and from that day that is what I wear to church when I go with her lol

A completely irrelevant story: I was visiting my step brother and he invited me to come to church with him. I thought it would be interesting so I decided I would go. This man picked out my shirt, ironed it until it was immaculate (I had never ironed anything before) and then asked what I was gonna wear with the shirt. I told him I was gonna wear shorts and he said to wear pants. We were experiencing a heat wave of 100+ weather. I ended up not going because I got sick and puked all over because of the heat lol
