Happy Fourth of July! As we watch fireworks this week, let's not forget the real reason to celebrate: The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. They've helped keep us free.

@bosse641 He said a lot of good things but also passed the second worst infringement on the second amendment, and ran up the debt like no one before. He was not the embarrassment that the 2 major candidates are today, but far from perfect.

A place I dreamed of living and becoming an American from childhood. Not so now looking at the divided and ruined, lost nation. There have been some victories. Every state has some sort of concealed weapons carrying policy now. SCOTUS just struck a couple huge blows to the regulatory state just recently.
I just finished reading "1776" by David McCullough. It was a remarkable book that I recommend every American read. You will understand how a scrappy, untrained (also hungry, sick, irregularly paid, and no shoes) army went head-to-head with the British - and won their independence. I was humbled by their sacrifice to make America free. Shout out to our French brothers who helped us win our independence!

New Yorkers are reaping what they've sowed. The tightest regulations on rent and housing have created one of the most expensive places to live... San Francisco has equally tight rent and housing regulations... and equally high cost of housing. These laws abd regulations do not work... just like the gun and knife control in London. People need to understand the difference between the intent of a law and the outcome of the law, so we can repeal laws that don't work.
Unfortunately democrats regulate the housing for the cities to the unaffordable levels and republicans do the same thing with suburbs by banning anything affordable (to keep certain people out of the communities). I am waiting to hear anything about supply/demand from 2 major parties when it comes to solving the crisis. Only libertarians will talk real housing solution.
Yep, hate to be a downer, but I agree with the others. NYC is one of the least free places in the USA today. You need to leave and come enjoy the rest of the nation where we still believe in freedom. It's hard to complain when you knowingly accept the poor governance of that city and state.
Most of us go through rough times a few times in our lives. That beautiful document he educated us on gives us the ability, like no other country in the world, to pull up our pants and do something about it. If we look to others when times are difficult, we'll never rise above them. Only you can make your life better. Go for it!
This 4th I am hoisting my Gadsden flag and spending lots of money on guns and ammo. I'm also getting my everyday carry piece refinished in hard chrome to keep it from rusting.

Someday soon the power lines won't deliver and we all will need to get along without them Same goes for gas and water pipes to your home as well. Drinkable water will be the first thing people will run out of along with a way to prepare the food they have stored up.

Specifically, Federalist No. 58 discusses how citizens are supposed to ensure the government remains frugal and does not overspend. This essay emphasizes the role of the House of Representatives in controlling government spending and the importance of the people's vigilance in ensuring that their representatives act in their interest. We clearly have not done our part.
I'll never forget when I was kid, bigger (and airborne) fireworks were about to be legal in Minnesota and Mark Dayton vetoed it. I was too young to understand politics and the tyranny exercised "for the good" of it's victims, but learned how the market finds a way...across the border in Wisconsin.

I'll tell you why: it has become an idol. A symbol of something, and then people respect the symbol, and place higher value on it than they do on what it represents. The same people who will go ballistic if they see the flag disrespected will argue that we need to support 85% taxation instead of 90%.
@@dustinabc Exactly. That flag doesn't bring us together and it does nothing to protect our liberties. None of my ancestors fought for that flag, they fought for their lives and their freedom. To me that flag represents the dying American Empire. Nothing more, nothing less.
I made sure to read most of the Declaration to my young children and try to explain it. I'm sure a lot went over their heads, but hopefully I sowed a seed of liberty that will bear fruit down the road.

I used to love Australia and wanted to move there at one point in my life. I feel sad for the people who have slowly had their rights stripped away. The people seem cool as heck for the most part and the nature is awesome there.

I'm in Australia and can say with all certainty that this place is a police nanny state. My father wanted to come here from Germany to be more free. We came in 1982 and it was good. Now it's not. I'm looking at leaving. I'm a citizen and also served in the defence force but I feel like a slave to government and those that want more of it to control others. No thanks
You should point out how it is possible for our nation to be in debt to a privately owned bank system. Our government is supposed to mint money but instead we let a private bank control our money system.
For me the Holiday is no longer a time of celebration, but rather one of lamentation, of all the liberties we've already lost that will likely never return.
Your tone is so appropriate for our time - there is still much to be celebrated, but there is also cause for concern and defense of our human rights. We should be grateful and emboldened to speak up against unjust powers!
On the other hand, when the Declaration lists the beefs the colonists had with King George, #1 on the list was "He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good."
The Declaration of Independence is about safety. See: " laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
Safety: Measures one takes to protect oneself from ones own ignorance. Security: Measures one takes to protect oneself from the ignorance of others. Both require uncompromising reason.
Coming from Western Europe... I am so, so tired of not being able to do pretty much anything without the government getting involved... honestly the only thing that holds me back from moving to the US at this point is that I don't want to leave behind my family...
One of the things our forefathers didn't seem to consider was term limits. The lifetime career politician is the reason government has become bloated and ineffective. The lack of term limits has created corruption and special interests which can never be undone.

As John Adams wrote in a letter to his wife on the subject: “I am apt to believe that Independence Day will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival…” “It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty…” “It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.” Many citizens of the U.S. of A. don’t even know why they have a paid holiday for the 4th of July. I’ve heard many, countless times, the phrase, “Happy 4th!” If I know the person who states this in my presence, I correct them, tho humbly, that it’s not technically “Happy 4th,” it’s supposed to be, “Happy Independence day!” I agree wholeheartedly with President Adams, and it always fills my heart with pride and thankfulness to God for allowing me the privilege of being born in these United States of America. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Our founding fathers fought against a king governing them, yet the supreme Court just afforded the office of the president the powers equivalent to a king. The irony of it all...
