@@rootofallevi Still, I wouldn't want to get hit by him. I just sparred for the first time in 30 years, haven't done any road work or strength and conditioning, am 46, and held my own against a Marine 20 years younger than me, and an Armenian boxer 15 years younger. I hurt my back in the first 16 seconds just moving, much less counting the swollen eyes afterwards. I held my own much better than expected for the lack of fight shape I'm in. If I got punched by Mungia, it would disintegrate half a kidney.
Top guys yes but Canelo has been selective of those top guys. It could be argued that ALL of the best guys he fought were all out of their prime, GGG, Cotto, Mosley, and Kovalev were all a ways out of their prime with GGG being the closest to his prime in first fight (which many he think Canelo lost), shit even Mayweather was not in his prime but easily swept an albeit drained and inexperienced Canelo. So that leaves IN prime opponent Canelo wins as Plant, Mungia, Jacobs, and and and Callum Smith?? The other two TWO guys he fought who were considered in prime and in form were Lara and Bivol one who beat him wide and one who many think shoulda beat him. Not the best resume all of a sudden is it?
@@MikeHunt-rz9tz Ryder? Literally like a couple of months ago, the same guy who fought Canelo last year? Who he was able to stop in devastating fashion? Ryder was a top 5 super middleweight fighter when he fought Canelo and was still in the top 10 I believe when he fought Munguia.
@@MikeHunt-rz9tz I am a boxing fan. Doesn't mean I'm going to hate on Canelo cuz of the usual haters. I think for myself, something all these haters usually don't do. Just following and agreeing with anything that supports their ways of thinking about a fighter
How is Paulie "hating" on Canelo? Everything he said is right, Canelo won't fight David Benavidez he priced himself out by asking for $150-200 million dollars. He is fighting Berlanga next Morrill isn't even in the discussion. Too many fan boys in boxing that don't want to see the best fights because that may not be what's best for their favorite fighter.
@@JamesNortone87 I'm all for the best fights but what Canelo said yesterday is true. He's been fighting all these guys that everyone wants him to fight his whole career, and now he's at the top so he's allowed to demand huge paydays like he did. He's just asking for his worth not ducking anyone. That being said Benavidez had already said he was going to move up to 175 cuz it's becoming a challenge to make 168, and Canelo clearly has stated he's focusing on defending his belts at 168 ever since the loss to Bivol. The best fights sometimes aren't possible when the two fighters are just not on an equal ground when it comes to the physical aspect of things. Canelo is like 5'7-5'8 and walks around at like 180-190ish, but yet ppl demand he needs to fight 6'2, 200+ pound Benavidez to be great? 🤦🏻♂️ David is bigger than Bivol in both frame and height so that matchup in itself is kinda dumb to consider equal anyways. But regardless Canelo said he would fight him, he never said he wouldn't, just that he wants his worth is all.
Respect. I wouldn't say that you're a hater if your criticism or dislike of Canelo is valid. Canelo is my favorite fighter, but he doesn't do everything perfectly well. I hope that all fighters DO listen to critics so they the become better fighters. Pride always comes before the fall.
They had to move to 175. Canelo won't fight them. What are they supposed to do. Canelo would rather ask Charlo to go up two divisions to fight him rather than fighting any of these guys. How much longer do you want them to wait for Canelo?
Paulie my favorite but his hate for canelo borders Trump Derangement Syndrome for liberals. That was a master class against a hungry young lion and he won almost every round. I gsve mungia 1st, which is a throw away round for Canelo. And the 3rd just to be unbiased. Other than that it was clear every round, Canelo made him mis then countered with clean hard punches to everywhere. His attack was varried and slick. Also, the judges were horrid, boxing has a big problem. You are an idiot or hater if you gave mungia any more than 3 rounds, and he got knocked down.
Benavidez would have been dropped plenty of times with the shots munguia took. They say munguia can beat canelo because ryder went 12 and munguia stopped him, but when we mention canelo stopping plant and benavidez not its not mentioned.
@@warprimeminister beavidez will fight similar to munguia punches in bunches and might be more effective no one knows but im 100% certain benavidez can't take the shots munguia took that be to the body or head, venavidez has been dropped and there wasn't much on the shot
@@p4pking. yeah, but the talking point was canelo not being able to do it. Benavidez also fought a plant that was kod by canelo and he couldnt stop him. They never mention the same examples because they want canelo to lose so bad that they need to make a one way script
@@RoosterTigerKarate I don’t think it was about hearing it. I think we all saw it and thought it in the 12th before the announcers said anything. Looks like Jaime was about to go down and Canelo didn’t follow up with anything after.
@@peteroneill1859 Smh, Jamie had 43 fights, he fought 1 champ and 1 former champ (2018 at 147) the other 41 fights where against contenders, he ducked 4 title shots at 160. When db tried to fight him…canelo fans called db a cherry pick for trying to fight Jamie.!!! So ya he is a cherry… 2 fights at 168 against contenders…betting Ryder who lost to rocky fielding, bjs, smith and canelo…. Stop the cap
Isn't everyone, he's the King juicer how can anyone idolize him, that's tantamount to being a cheater. And if that wasn't bad enough, he claimed bad meat down in Mexico. Come on man were not talking about the water. Lol...
@@franksantucci3038 If you had read more than just a the headlines you'd know his levels of clenbuterol were consistent with those found in contaminated meat in Mexico that impacted several athletes during that time in Mexico. Don't get me wrong I think most of these guys are on something but to accuse him of that based solely off his public sample data isn't very valid. I mean he isn't abnormally jacked, he's not the fastest, and he doesn't have best cardio nor power. Nothing really out of the ordinary to suggest he's juiced.
It's amazing the hatred that Paulie has for Canelo and its weird. This was a CLINIC and what's more impressive, is that Canelo is 80% of what he once was. I don't know who's worse, Teddy Atlas, or Paulie honestly. The criticism they only give to Mexican fighters is odd. We should appreciate what Canelo is and what he's done for boxing. He's carried the sport for over a decade and that's needed in boxing. Superstars are essential in keeping boxing relevant and Canelo has done that. At 33 years old, with 64 fights under his belt, he just dominated one of the best 168 LB fighters in the world. I would honestly respect Paulie more if he gave credit where is due, instead of tearing everyone down.
Canelo's next fight will likely be against Edgar Berlanga. He is the perfect opponent for Canelo as he continues to follow the path of least resistance.
Great great experience for Mungia. The future is super bright for him. He will continue to learn from Freddie Roach and eventually reach the very top. Canelo looked really good as well.
He didn't beat canelo in the second fight he got pushed back and ggg fought on backfoot all night long and he was supposed to be the big strong power guy
Funny how this guy brings up Canelo saying he won’t fight a Mexican. Canelo has already clarified what he meant by that statement but these guys don’t seem to talk about his clarification
Canelo is a great fighter BUT guys like Chavez and Sanchez and Olivares who would take it up a notch at times when needed are the greatest!! Those guys fought every one without waiting until an opponent was over the hill or too green,no one will ever accuse the greats of old of cherry picking
my boy... Chavez Sr was fighting multiple guys with single digit fights (less then 5!) when he was 60-70 fights in his career. Chavez Sr even fought a guy in his debut when he was 70 fights in his career. I believe that's the textbook definition of choosing opponents that are too green, and in the territory of cherry picking. There's a new kid on the block and I don't see why people have to disrespect him and diminish his accomplishments in order to protect the old guards.
Paulie i wasn’t a huge fan when you were boxing but as a commentator you are one of the best. I’m just a casual but listening to you makes me want to watch more.
Weight gain? Everybody gains weight after they weigh in, including Canelo. That's the lamest excuse u could possibly make. Especially when Canelo spent most his career being a weight Bully at 154 and 160.
Dunces out here pretending like this is not a business. He already said he’ll fight if the money is right. He made $35m to fight Munguia. He has the right to ask for a crap load more for a fight with Benavidez.
That fact he said Morrell who hasn't proven nothing yet is crazy you maybe can argue Benevidez but regardless Canelo should be no lower than 2nd in weight class 🤦♂️
@@bluegordo860 🤣🤣 sounds much different then what Ducknelo said. “They ask me everytime to fight someone i did, now i want to choose myself” pretty much saying “its now my time to duck”
I agree with your points, the amount of fanboys defending Canelo really is pathetic. I won't complain, but how anyone defends his post fight speech attitude is beyond me (no fighter is bigger than the sport).
Canelo should really start to think about retiring, he has nothing more to prove he's done it all and whist his fights are still action packed there're also getting more and more predictable and he's not able to close the show like he once did. (Im not saying he should retire i'm saying he should start to think about it)
The issue with fighting Morrell and Benavidez is that they are nearly 190 ring day. When you're 5"7' and your natural weight is 165, being 6'2" weighing at 190+ is a huge disadvantage. It's not even a middle weight fight.
1 of my Favourite fights was Paulie vs Artem Lobov # BKF. Paulie looked a right mouthpiece that night. Paulie's the type to support ye if there's something in it for him otherwise his ego takes over.
I think mentioning Light Heavyweights (Benavidez, Morrell) vs Canelo is pointless. With that said I would like to see winner of Plant vs Berlanga/Charlo.
They're not lightheavweights!! Lol, just because their next opponents are in that division, doesn't mean they won't immediately come back down to 168 for the opportunity! Tell your daddy Ducknelo to grow a pair and fight them! Because 8:04 both Davids are his mandatory challengers for the WBC and WBA!
MUCH RESPECT TO MUNGUIA & CARAMELO , BERLANGA HITS HARDER THAN BOTH , AND HAS A SNAPPING JAB WHEN HE USES IT !!! ITS GONNA BE TIME FOR ANOTHER MEXICO 🇲🇽 VS . PUERTO RICO 🇵🇷 RIVALRY CÁÑELO VS. BERLANGA !!! LETS GET IT EDDIE !!!!
It's crazy how people want whoever Canelo fights to have the perfect advantages while wanting Canelo to have the perfect disadvantages. Sad how Canelo will never get his credit despite everything he has done
Paulie appreciate greatness while Canelo is still active. Tank,Bud and the other guys are only fighting one a year 😅. Canelo been fighting top guys for more than a decade. Give him some credit
Munguia isn't a nobody. I have mad respect for that kid. He never laid down and he truly came to win. His problem is he lacks the experience and he's always been suseptible to big punches. I wished for him to win in order to free the belts being held hostage by Canelo. Boxing would have become interesting again because Munguia will literally fight anyone. That being said, I rank him behind David Benavidez and David Morrell at 168.
Paulie we love you but come on now since 2011 canelo been making noise then fought mayweather in 2013, we in 2024 now thats 13yrs of being on top and making millions. 13yrs man wow
Ali probably rolling in his grave due to the fact that there are boxing fans who love to follow and sing the praises of a guy who clearly doesn't fight the fighters he should be fighting
Only way Bivol looses a fight is a one punch KO. Nobody beats him on points. Original fighting since the beginning of time is a in and out style. Go watch any gladiator show/movie it’s always in and out fighting. Conelo will never beat Bivol and beterbiev only way to win is land a perfect times punch or two maybe. Bivol smokes Benavides 10 out of 10 times mark my words. Bivol style is one of the best if not the best in boxing. Let’s see who’s right in the long run
U can’t say he needs to fight Morrell and Benevidez when both have moved up to 175. Canelo is that guy at 168 and there’s no one better than him in that division…
Yea his fanboys will defend Ginger till the end though, can will fight another smaller man coming up to fight him or another decent European nobody recognizes
How can people still consider Canelo an all time great while he's still active and avoiding the best in his division? What weak criteria! He's a great deceiver not a great champion!
I MEAN, "👉🏾YOU CAN ADD THE POORLY-SKILLED HARD-PUNCHING BERLANGA TO THAT LIST AS WELL... "👉🏾ALTHOUGH IT WILL BE EXCITING FOR HOWEVER LONG IT LASTS BEFORE HE EVENTUALLY GETS EITHER (KNOCKED-OUT) HIM-SELF, OR GETS A SURPRISING (KO) OF HIS OWN... REGARDLESS, "👉🏾I'M NOT GONNA COMPLAIN!!!🤷🏾🥱💯
@evanderholyfeels he also needed to work his way back up for losing his belt to the scale and being on cocaine. He has made great progress, but I think benavidez vs Morrell is a good move
Paulie 💯🎯. Nobody wanted to see him fight Rider, Charlo. He’s not taking these type of risks. And if ur defending him it’s bc you don’t think he can beat these top guys. ESPECIALLY THE MONSTER. AND TO ASK FOR 200 million says everything we need to know
Thanks Paulie. You always speak the truth about the boxing business despite the protest of Conelo's fanboys. I don't think Conelo will ever again fight anyone who can be competitive against him. I also think that since the two David's have no hope in hell of getting a shot, he may continue to choose opponents/title holders from lower weight classes to create the illusion that he's in some kind of event. Other than Berlanga (who is not remotely deserving of a shot), nobody else has sufficient name recognition at 168. Wouldn't shock me if one of his future fights is a rematch against 40+ year old WBA middleweight champion, Erislandy Lara. The narrative would be that there was controversy about their first fight 10 years ago and Conelo wants to silence his critics.
@@MrOctavia1000 Gvozdyk for an opportunity to fight the winner of Beterbiev vs Bivol because Canelo won’t fight him. Meanwhile, Canelo isn’t even retired but is already putting on exhibition fights.
@semyaza555 that makes sense for david especially being oversized for 168, while canelo is undersized for 168 and is undisputed 😀. Not canelos fault benavidez career was slowed due to being overweight and on cocaine smh 🤦
Paulie, Wuts all those skate boards on your wall? Do you skate board? Because you have skate boards mounted to your wall. Are you really into skate boarding? You must really like skate boarding to have all those skate boards on your wall
Gvozdyk was the guy who nearly killed Stephenson and sent him to retirement. Who then was stopped by Beterbeiv. I don't see Benavidez doing much damage at 175. Bivol will outbox him and Beterbeiv will KO with David's poor defense.
Canelo's the face of boxing: not the best fighter in the sport, but the best-known and most marketable figure in the sport. Still, he's not bigger than boxing, not bigger than the fans, not bigger than everyone who loves or has a part in the sport. It's traditional for a champ to fight middle-range contenders (like Munguia or Ryder) and once in a while even go off on a vanity walk-about (Bivol, GGG 3, or Charlo), but a champ also--on an ongoing basis--has to face #1 contenders.
Benavides is a smart guy but I wonder why move to 175? Seems like now he should blow Mungia out to force Canelo to fight. Thanks Paulie for such intelligent analysis.
