HOLY SHIT! YOU GUYS HAVING A PODCAST IS A BRILLANT IDEA! Especially having cnc machinsit, programmers, and QC inspector in the same room talking shop is such a power move. Because there isnt a silo of skillsets and lack of communication but a synergy of skills and communication that will allow a blend of specialties that will make the godfather of quality proud. Im deff gonna show my coworkers this podcast. We defffff can learn tons from you guys.

Imagine how much work Titan is getting back to America just by running this RU-vid channel alone. How many shops, including mine, are open now because of him.

The one who taught me how to program is the kind of guy who loved it when I used the “what if” when it came to programming it to make it faster and better. When we tried it and the outcome would dictate how we ran it. He was always willing to try something new. When we tried to show the bosses your channel and how much we could save by getting the right machines. To make consistent parts and correct parts they told us that they will never be big enough to justify the cost. I told them not with that attitude you wouldn’t. So with in a year I was gone, because I couldn’t see myself working for a company that didn’t want to advance their game. They are happy being in the top 100 not the top 10.

I wish you guys would start like a company management program, go around the country like Bar Rescue helping these shops stop being so far behind and ignoring employee ideas, this would make companies so much more competitive, maybe it’s just me, I’m just tired of being in this shop with decent machines, and all my ideas just getting thrown away and ignored.. multi million dollar ideas they don’t give a chance..

I was recently telling a person how the company i was working for had procedures we followed on a regular basis then company B closed and we hired their workers then things were going down hill i was asked what i thought and i told them we had procedures we were following then the new guys came in and were doing it the they had been doing it and not following our procedures

What would you suggest. The company I work for “promoted” me to automation manager. But now I’m stuck programming a 3rd party welding robot with proprietary software on it that is not in any other shop in the world and I’m stuck at the robot and don’t get to program or design nearly as much in cad and cam. Should I look for a new job. I love machining. I don’t love welding robots. Except fanuc is cool. But this robot is only in our shop

35:07 I mean for the longest time the reason the work went to China was because being a developing country people work for very little money China’s government would actually artificially keep the price down too, making China very appealing but as the Chinese middle class grew the cost of living did to so it wasn’t as viable. Keeping the work at your country is great for jobs but end of the day if the price for consumers go up not good so Chinese business realised automation can fix that but than foreign companies outsourcing realised they can just automate at home to keep the cost down.

I agree that setup can be a big time killer within a machine shop. But I think there are a number of other factors s well. I think the overseas outsourcing, and conglomerate bidding websites are a big one. Also, poor shop management. Eg; Failing to allocate machines appropriately...constantly switching setups.

What is a tombstone? It sounds like it allows you to run multiple parts without having to open the door.
