I'm a Chinese international student and our schools unapologetically offers AP courses. Here is my commentary on all of them that I have taken. Bio: Best class to teach, worst class for future bio majors. You just have these points that you have to remember and the rest are just trying to maneuvre around the models connecting one with another and another trying to make sense of what the problem even is rather than whether this specific protein has 278 nucleotides or 279 nucleotides. It just tells you there is this protein and those with great background knowledge won't automatically ace the exam unless they know how modeling works. Calc BC: You ever have a whole set of knowledge you'd never forget? Yeah, as it should. Comp A: Yes, we can use our computers; but, it still doesn't prevent us from making the same mistakes such as forgetting a semicolon. Chem: The textbook definition of being forced to recite textbook definitions. Nothing was fun about chem other than the teacher of course ;) (which is why I made it through) Macroec: You ever have a whole set of knowledge you'd forget two days after taking the exam? Yeah, as it should. Microec: The same as macroec, except there are fewer things to remember so fewer things to forget. Once again, I am not an economics or business major so don't at me. Phys 1: Wait, there are easier physics classes than this? (checks score distribution) Yes. Phys 2: Basically Phys 1, but messier and everything is all over the place. Phys C E&M: Favorite. The cutoff line is low and you learn a lot of stuff including inductors and Maxwell's equations. Once again, I recommend this class to everybody because it is so easy to get a 5 on and become a smarter guy by the end of the year. Phys C Mech: Basically phys 1, except now you can write dy/dx instead of "delta y over delta x". Also less explainy and more calculaty, which is always better. Seminar: Good that I wrote academic projects before. Bad that I still don't have reputable research papers that I can put on my application. Other than that, pretty meh. Statistics: What the fuck. This is math, except with the math pulled out of it. Essentially all you have to do is put numbers in a calculator and recite the definition that isn't even in the textbook(which is worse than Chem). Also the scoring system is as confusing as the test itself. Still, the mcq question is pretty laid back though, and we prefer to not talk about anything after that. [edit: correcting spelling]
@@MrPromethium0157 My school district made it so that if you take AB, you can't take BC. However, they did slow down BC's progression a little bit compared to other districts.
as an art person I can confirm the most successful person in our family is my rich aunt who did fine arts and is the sole breadwinner, ( her kid went to private school, they live in LA )
NAH YOU DID NOT HAVE TO CALL ME OUT LIKE THAT FOR AP LANG i mean i really did read all the books but i had to research wtf some of it meant aint no way i’m supposed to comprehend old time english and extract symbolism from it but yeah i did pull up being like “guys idk but i kinda think that on page 12 when winston scratched his varicose ulcer, maybe that represented his increasing desire for freedom” no way i came up with that myself
As someone who takes AP Psych, I can confirm that I act exactly like this and relate everything to psychology 😂😂 I’d love to see a stereotype for AP World or APUSH bc I took AP World last year and got a 5 on it I loved the class. And APUSH is literally amazing this year I love it ❤️
AP classes that I've taken, the reason that I took them, and how much I liked them AP Environmental Science: I like science, it was one of my favorite classes, I got a 4, and I had an engaging teacher who clearly enjoyed the subject AP Biology: I like science and my parents are in the field, I absolutely hated it and the only good thing that I got from that class was less Bio in college, still got a 3 though AP Drawing: I like art, it was well paced and I enjoyed having it in my curriculum, very low stress, I got a three AP Seminar: I was told that it looked good on college applications. I enjoyed the variety of things that I got to research and the exam was a good length. I got a three on the exam and I put together my IRR entirely within one week because I procrastinated for months AP Spanish Lang: I liked Spanish 1, 2, 3 so decided to go to my school's next highest class... big mistake, I'm still averaging an A but the stress is killing me AP US History: I heard good things about my school's teacher. I'm enjoying the class very much, the content is engaging and the teacher is very good at helping us learn. AP Research: It was the next class after AP Seminar and I enjoyed that... yeah, no one told me that I needed to find an idea to engage my ADHD brain for a whole year. I'm struggling and don't vibe w/ the teacher (but my school is hiring my Seminar teacher to take over the class because my Research teacher has to move, so plus) AP AB Calc: I'm an unapologetic math nerd and this was a prerequisite class to BC Calc. I love it. I'm learning so many new math rules and I get to do derivatives every day. Overall, I say that my favorites are AB Calc and APES (maybe APUSH) and that this video is pretty accurate... looking at *you* 5th lowest pass rate in the nation APES. Also, English class sucks, I don't care if I got recomended for the AP, I'm not subjecting myself to that torture
how many years of spanish did you do before ap spanish? also how much of a jump (with class difficulty and homework) was it from your last year of spanish to ap? thanks!!
@@swajonathan I did Spanishes 1, 2, & 3 before going to AP Lang. It's been a difficult jump, I don't have as much of the vocab down as I would like and had my school offered Spanish 4, I would have taken that, because the grammer and sentence structures that I learned last year haven't had as much time to set in as I would have liked. Homework wise, my Spanish 3 homework was mostly just stuff we didn't finish in class, but in AP Lang, we do large packets that we bring home if we don't finish (and we don't finish much more often than in Spanish 3) and often do PPCs on CollegeBoard. I spend maybe 15 minutes a night playing catch up on our packets and maybe an hour a week doing research for larger projects. Also, there is much more of a focus on listening and speaking activities than there were in the earlier Spanish courses, so I would practice that as much as I could if you were considering taking the class. Part of the difficulty is that you're being held to national standards rather than district ones and the school really wants to look good. It was more difficult when I first started the class because I was unused to the courseload but after a few months, I understand its requirements much better. If you are considering the course, I would pack in all the Spanish you possibly can before that. I'm a bit all over the place, but I hope that this helps.
Aww thanks for this review! I'm going to take APES, AP Calc AB, and AP Spanish next year so I'm now I'm a little more excited :> (Also, I'm taking AP Research right now and totally get the topic thing, I tried my hardest to pic a topic I knew I'd like + could still research and I'm struggling to stay engaged 😔)
@@wynautvideos4263 That’s just my opinion though I guess it’s based on how you think. I’ve never been the best at physics to be honest and I’m not good at how you have to adapt to piece together the problems. Chemistry for me was mostly remembering how to do steps for like Gibb’s Free Energy, VSEPR theory, intermolecular forces. There is some stuff according to College Board we didn’t cover like “Electrolysis and Faraday’s law” but I don’t think it’s enough for it to be harder than AP Physics C: Mechanics for me. Figuring out free body diagrams, surfaces, springs, etc is just more complicated for me.
Quick proof that God is real: if there is a building that you see, but you don’t know who built it, then the logical sense is to assume that a builder built it, and it didn’t just show up out of nowhere. If there is painting, then that’s proof that there’s a painter who made that painting even if they have passed away a long time ago. So, if we have creation- Earth, the sky, grass, flowers, animals, us, etc, then isn’t the logical sense to assume there is a creator? Have you ever used God’s name in vain-like a cuss word, lied, stolen, hated someone, gossiped, lusted, etc(see more in the 10 commandments)? This is called sin and we’ve all done at least one of these. Now, sin is basically doing something against God’s will. Now because we have done something against His will, it’s good to note that He is Just. A JUST judge wouldn’t look at a guilty criminal and give them a non-guilty verdict for what they’ve done. And if the Judge is Just, they wouldn’t let the criminal go if they had said that they had done something Good. Our actions are way more serious and cannot be paid off of just because I did something Good. (So good works cannot save us) This is exactly How God is! He’s so just that He looks at us, and He has to send us to hell. Scary right? But HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS!! Usually, there is bail- a payment that someone can do for a guilty criminal so that they can be set free- legally. Now here’s JESUS, who is GOD and takes our place for us THROUGH DYING ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS- to basically pay off the price that sin created. See Romans 6:23, but here’s what Jesus did: John 3:16, Romans 4:25, 2 Corinthians 5:21 AND Romans 10:9-10 If we believe in Jesus and repent (turn away from sin) then we will be saved from our punishment. But we must continue this relationship with Jesus!😊
