you forgot to mention that Loui Eriksson played in the World Cup of Hockey right before signing with the Canucks and played with the Sedins and had a very good showing in that tournament. As the Sedin Sedin Eriksson line did really well together so it looked like a match made in heaven.

Regardless of his play on the ice, he was still a professional. With all the negative press and being benched, he still went to practice and gave 100% when he was on the ice (even if the results where not there). He also took Elias Pettersson under his wing, and having him stay with the Eriksson household.

True, but Loui's career is still one big mystery to me. As a Norwegian, we have a tendency to watch the Swedish national team in championships a lot. I can still remember that powerhouse of a line Eriksson and the 2 Sedins were. They made a very mediocre Swedish team look really dangerous over night when they entered. That Loui never managed to find some of that chemistry again- I still dont get it. He was such a classy player in Dallas, still great in Boston. There must be some sort of lockerroom curse in Vancouver

You missed one huge thing though. His concussion issues starting all the way back with Dallas. That had alot to do with his scoring getting worse every year.

And for a more sentimental individual achievement, he also got to form an all-Swede line with the Sedins during stretches with the Canucks. The line never really worked well but it's an accomplishment all the same.

The guy had a promising career came to Vancouver scored in his own net on the 1st game and that was the symbol of his entire time in Vancouver we called it the curse of Eriksson. He's one of the only players that couldn't seem to play with the Sedin's either.

He was good. As a Bruins fan, it was a little disappointing considering what was given up. However, with some of the stories from that time, I've always thought Seguin might have needed that trade as a wakeup call.

They traded him for an even worse contract in OEL. You can do him next
@BeastOfMetal1989
@BeastOfMetal1989 Год назад
Jim Benning was desperate to shore up his defense. Eckman Larson was known as a No. 1 defenseman. It makes perfect sense until you realize that what was being traded was the shattered remains of a No. 1 defenseman on a contract that was unwarranted at the time it was signed (2017-18 was the first year where he was off; John Chayka extended him that summer under the assumption it was a fluke).

@BeastOfMetal1989 Год назад
@@masterbaiters1183 Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I said. The extension was arguably two years too late, in terms of when it kicked in, since he was already in decline by Fall 2017.

OEL is too expensive and never proved to be a good contract, but we did get Garland, and losing Eriksson was a blessing. 6million dollars a year, for six goals(2 of which were empty netters).

The Canadian Market eats up talent and spits it out. It's unfortunate as I'm a Canadian myself. Not to mention how brutal hockey can be on players. Something I had no idea about until I saw the documentary about drug use in Pro Hockey featuring Ryan Kesler, Quincy and Ian White.

Eriksson’s last year in Boston, the team was not a good team. they rolled the dice, and did not trade him. teams were offering a first, a good prospect and a roster player. by that years trade deadline it became very apparent that he had no intentions of resigning in Boston. which was a mistake. the team missed the playoffs.
