Exposure lock is probably the best advice, certainly the easiest thing to do. It's all about timing and using objects, trees, buildings, cliffs or hills... something to focus on and show the suns movement and colours as it rises or sets. We talk about the hour, but trust me, there is only ever 5/10 minutes where its perfect, the rest is either too bright, too dappled or just too hazy! It's all in the planning! I do dry runs first, going to the location at different times to see what's what, but the more time you take planning, the easier it becomes. 👍 Great #mail Dylan, thank you!👏🍻

Remember to look behind you! Sometimes its the clouds behind you that are lit the best when looking at a sunset or sunrise.

Thanks Dylan for such a great answer and review I can't stop watching it 😜 I knew the sunset I did was naff but it was just a short snippet of a few attempts and I am trying to learn what to do with the editing also (Davinci) 🙄 it's all so complicated but great fun 😁 I am over the moon that you answered my question and will continue to follow and learn 👍 keep up the great work 👍👍😎 Ps I might even have to purchase a tee shirt as I feel like I am a member now 😁👍 (and I didn't get a free one for asking such a good question) 😳😂🤣😂

Hi Dylan. I find a full dark ND filter works best for sunsets, helps to silhouette any foreground objects. A dark to mid graduated ND filter I find works best for sun rises - keeping the sun in the top third, while allowing more details to show in the rest of the frame.

@@IkoptaUk Yes, there awesome - thanks to a previous video of yours that introduced me to them. My mavic pro is very happy and never leaves the house without them 😀 Just before this zombie apocalypse happened, I got up in the wee small and captured a sunrise using the ND32-8 gradient filter and a slightly downward tilted gimble. Keeping the sun in the top third, I was able to give my mavic pro an in-flight exposure adjustment. If more light was required, I raised the gimble. A slow gimble setting, with an almost sudden stop is also required, to enable fine gimble movements which don't over run

#mail Hi Dylan, my PfCO is coming up for renewal soon and as this is the first renewal I need to include Flight Logs and Battery Logs. Having searched I can't find an answer to exactly what I should include in these logs especially the battery log, I am flying a Mavic 2 Pro. What advice can you give and do you think it is worthwhile paying for an audit of your operations manual? Stay safe and keep up this informative channel.

Great video...good advice as always...but..don't t leave your expensive drone equipment in your car overnight ready for quick getaway in the morning unless your car is locked in your garage!! You don't need drone going missing overnight😉😅

Got up early this AM to capture the sunrise, put my drone up in the air at what I thought should be the best time. About 10 minutes up and the screen went dark, couldn't do anything to change it, so I brought it down. There was a piece of paper stuck to the front of the drone, "the sun is in self quarantine today, sorry"

...did you know you can send your drone up minutes before, or minutes after a Sunset and you will not only see the Sun, you will affectively be seeing over the curve of the Earth.
