@@Dan-x8f3uI guess you haven’t watched enough? We talk mostly English on YT because our audience is English speaking and we are English. Learning PT getting better.
My husband and I often comment on the fact that we'll just be living perfectly normal peaceful lives for months and even years, and the all of a sudden several bad things happen at once. You've had a challenging couple of weeks, but you're really facing those challenges bravely.
Can I ask a question about the planning? Firstly, your explanation was really helpful about the regs around agricultural land 🙏🏻 But - I’m assuming the regs about proportion of land allowed to be used to build on are established & not decided on a whim 😁 (Decided at Camera level if not national) So, should your architect have been able to tell you exactly what area you would expect to get approval for? And designed your dream house to fit those criteria? I’m curious as to why that wasn’t the case. I had also wondered if you’d needed approval for your temporary extension to the stone house. Was that okay to go ahead with because it’s on a space that has already been concreted/paved over, so was already part of an urban article? I’ve been following loads of RU-vid channels relevant to moving to Portugal for a couple of years now, hoping to be well informed before I buy 🤞🏻 Biggest issue for me is my daughters who keep popping out more and more grandchildren for me 😂 #8 on the way 😱 I love them to bits but worry that I’ll miss my chance to follow my dream. X
You have been tested with these hiccups that's for sure but you are both positive people so onwards and upwards ...I would have thought the architect should have known about these issues you were rejected on surely ??.? ❤
I am amazed your architect did not spot that problem before submitting your application! I had the same challenges with a property near Lisbon and all those issues were sorted beforehand to the extent that I knew what I had to demolish in order to get the correct permits! But do pursue the matter. Try and get a really good relationship with both departments. They are there to help you ... and the land! You will get there (I did) and it was wonderful to have a property that was legal in every way. Please don't be tempted to ignore the planning laws as the department inspect the works at all stages. My secret was a super experienced clerk of works who knew everyone from the council architects down and so navigated everything really well. Mind you, it did take a lot a meetings. So ... hold your nerve, your beautiful house will get built around your courtyard. Afterall, you are making massive improvements to abandoned land (a huge issue in Portugal) so they are on your side. No really, they are!!! Boa sorte!!!
We are so sorry to hear that you had the same challenges Maria but so happy to hear you managed to get it all right. We definitely don't want to ignore the permissions and plans, we want to do things according to the rules. Thanks for the support friend ❤️🙏🏼😃🏡🇵🇹
Tara you were so calm while taking John to the hospital and so glad it wasn’t more serious. Fingers crossed for your next round for planning permission, don’t give up, tweak those plans and fulfill all the criteria and I’m sure it will happen.
I'm a Grandma of five precious little ones. I watch and enjoy your videos faithfully and I'm brought to tears by your precious family more times than I can count. Your sweet parenting, your HARD work, your kindness to each other, and your gratitude for all is so very touching. No need to reply to this; it's clear how busy you are... just wanted to send words of appreciation.. I felt for you, John!
Dear John how lucky you are to have such support in tough situation. Medical staff well done Must remember safety gear ..Lots of love and cheers from Oz 😊😊😊
I think that if you can buy more land, it will add to value of the Property and also if in the future you decide to expand the Farm. I live in Northern Portugal by the Coast. Stick with the rules it's the only. Life is like a river, with twists and turns. Go with the flow. You are a young couple. Enjoy your little boys too. They grow up fast.
The courtyard is such a wonderful part of your environment of course you must protect it! Great video full of info and happenings on the farm. Your advice about not treading on the officials is spot on. Respecting the local process is the way to go. As always, love you guys!
@@TheNewbysmy question is, if you need agricultural land for the approval, then why did you pave all that land for your driveway circle? It seems that that would definitely go against your government AG rules or did you consider that when your planning was presented? It’s not making sense because you removed a lot of AG land when you chose to pave that area!
@@dorothyallen3614there is a difference between permeable and non permeable, a cobbled road is considered permeable which is why we chose that over a paved road. Good question.
Thanks for explaining a bit about the Portugese planning system. That makes good sense. I am glad for Portugal that these rules are in place and ultimately this will preserve the kind of life you are creating on your farm. Good luck with either more land purchase or knocking down the not-garage. Can't wait to see your update - you are a tease sometimes! And epic work on the plumbing in the mean time - you are great problem solvers. And brilliant handling of the injury. Love and continued strength to you all. Following your lives is infinitely more interesting and engaging than watching a series on TV!
Wow so much has happened and I was listening eagerly at everything. I can't wait to hear the news on the next episode. Not to one up you, but I live in a neighborhood and would gladly trade some of your challenges to have peace. My neighbor across the street has gone nuts and started shooting his gun off his porch. I called 911 and several police came and there was a stand off. Then I caught him walking to my fence and trying to peer in my side window on that side of the house closest to the fence. Just want to remind you of the other side of things to help you not feel so overwhelmed. You are blessed and I know you know that. My neighbor has been taken to a psychiatric hospital but I am terrified he might be released. I have also been worried about injuries for you both as the amount of work you have both been doing is amazing and so far things have gone well! I'm so thankful John is okay and nothing is damaged in his hand. So just remind yourselves that having the farm with all of its challenges is still worth it, despite everything. Love you Newby's!!!! Stay safe and I will be praying for good news ahead!!!!
Thanks Stephanie, we can't wait to share that all with you soon! Oh wow we are sorry to hear about your challenges, that is horrific! Please do stay safe ❤️❤️
Also, the way John reacted when he cut his hand was SO IMPRESSIVE! I've never seen anyone just seal the wound and not let any blood flow 😂 most of us want to see, haha, or make sure it's as bad as we thought. But John was like, "oh damn I know what this is" 👏 hope it heals quickly!
Glad you are respecting the laws and going about it the right way. It will all work out. John I'm amazed this is the first trip to the emergency room from the farm. Please take care.
They do say that nothing worthwhile is ever easy. And that is often the truth. What you are creating is something that will hopefully stand for generations so I hope the set backs don’t discourage you. I think that as adventurous people who believe in thinking big and being brave you are exactly the right custodians of that beautiful slice of the world. You have already breathed so much life back into the land through your hard work and dedication. I hope you are able to find a solution to satisfy the agricultural reserve.
Thanks so much guys, we really appreciate all your support. John's hand is doing better! So thankful it wasn't anything worse. Sending you lots of love ❤️❤️
Praying your resubmission goes through for you. 🙏😂 I am glad you are properly addressing the protected land versus moving forward and risking it all. A big hiccup in your plans but I am confident that your forever home will be a reality. 😊
If everybody would just stop hoping and they would know that it will go through then it will go through everybody needs to start learning how to word things different some things for gold the way
Turn the main water in the winter use the the well that way you only paid that rent for the clock water you just turn on when the well it’s dry, I do have the same system. That’s what we do.
I LOVE listening to your speech, your educated and classy UK accent, Tara. It's not just your content, which is great, and your attitudes, both, toward all this work and creativity, which is admirable. It's also that y'all speak English real good! Sincerely, an unclassy American
Surely the Dept can come out and check what you want to build. You are beautifying Portugal and have done so much . Portugal are lucky that they have you living in their country. Thinking of you all.🙏
I have done that sort of accident once, and only once, when cutting my back hedge. I sliced my hand open with some secateurs, and now have that scar. It seemed so stupid, at the time. I never usually have accidents when working, and only later did I realise I hadn't been concentrating, simply because so much else was on my mind. So this is worth noting here. I really felt for John as you both drove to the hospital, and he was probably going into shock. Take care, both of you. All of you. The planning stuff just takes a back seat when issues like this occur. And it's worth remembering that all building planning takes time, and it's sometimes a dogged chase, to get the proper result you deserve. .
My goodness, it doesn’t rain but it pours! Haven’t we all gone through this same type situation a few times in our lives?! You have both been handling it gracefully and keeping the faith. Your advise is spot on and very helpful. It’s always the unseen that reaches out to grab you! John, if it’s any consolation, my husband HAAAAAATES plumbing….says it’s the only thing that hasn’t changed in a very long time and desperately needs to! Sweat fittings, glue, clamps, all just Archaic and a real pain! We definitely feel yours and can put ourselves in your place quite easily. Hang in there dear ones. There is always a reason we don’t know about, that makes the solution even sweeter. You will have your beautiful new home, just hang in there. Love and hugs.🤗🤗👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🙏
Optimism is what saves all of the dreamers in this world. Your realistic and honest approach to tackling your housing project is the best solution. Things will come together. We hope you're able to buy those extra fields to help with your end goals. You two are an inspiration!!
That is a good thing, you don't want to wake up one morning and find out you are now living in a suburb. Agricultural and is important. You are doing such a great job.
Tara, those bamboo canes have been so useful. I remember when you were despairing of having so many and couldn’t imagine what you would do with them. You made a great job of the teepee. So glad John’s cut wasnt any worse and as for your plumbing and planning…. Oh dear. It will all be resolved eventually and you both have the capacity to deal with sudden surprises so well. Sending you love. Jill. 🤞🦋🌸🌷💖
I loved the little poem. Scars are memories map of our past, some can be related to very good moments and a story can be told. I have some 😊The teepee with the sweetpeas is a great idea!💡Sad the application has been rejected but you are right, you should keep the courtyard and the ideal is to buy more land.Wish you the best.❤
Moving in and fix as you go, was how we did our home build No plumbing no electric just walls and a roof, but as you say be brave explore ( new skills) happiness😊
So sorry, here's hoping the second request goes through! Jon happy that you got through that traumatic accident, Tara good job getting Jon to the ER real quick. Whew, that was stressful to watch....happy you're ok!
John I am so glad that the injury was not worse. Out of our 5 kids and ourselves we have had only the 4 boys break arms. Mainly bike accidents but also one fall off a roof resulting in a shattered elbow for our eldest boy and a minkey (junior primary school hockey) broken finger. So far no stitches. I hope you manage to keep the stitches clean with no infection. When you were talking about the water mains at around time stamp 20 minutes at the front gate, what is that gorgeous tree behind you with the fern type foliage that could also be in the conifer family. Keep calm, keep careful, keep caring. From down under Down Under (if you look at a map of Australia you will, see what I mean. We live in the south of Tasmania in the mountains behind Hobart)
Thanks Judy! Oh ouch that sounds so sore but yes I agree, let's hope no stitches for our boys. I am not sure about the name of the tree friend, will try find out and let you know! Thanks for all your support down under down under haha ❤️❤️
Love the pea teepee! It will be lovely covered with pea vines. Such a cute idea. I'm so glad John's beautiful kitchen will be moving to the stone house, too. Doesn't it always figure that the thing we like to do the least is what we end up dealing with the most...Sorry about the plumbing, and the building permits. But being who you are, I'm sure it makes sense to you about the permeable land surface. Where I live there is a Land Preservation Society that keeps land from being built on, and keeps it wild but maintains it also. Many people donate pieces of their own land to it. It's a great conservation tool! Can't wait for the update! I have the feeling it's good news...! See you next time. Love to all.❤❤❤❤
I’ve raised two boys and have spent many hours at the emergency room. Splinters in the face, falling out of a treehouse with a huge head bruise, hitting a head on a school desk, broken bones and the list goes on and on. My little girl had some as well. And don’t mention the time my son swallowed a guitar pick.
@@TheNewbys boys are adventurous little creatures. Which means they seem to get injured more often than normal. My one son watched the movie Zorro and then took a sharpie marker and put his first initial on everything he could find before I caught him. I never knew where he got the marker from. Needless to say I couldn’t get all of his initials off. Now all of my children are in their 30’s and I have grandchildren. 😄
I've suggested to my friend who lives in rural Spain that he could build 'underground' to circumvent the rural laws. It still leaves the top for agricultural use. Maybe half the house? If it's possible of course.
The teepee looked cute, great idea! Glad to hear the cut was not as bad as it could have been, I’m amazed you did not bleed. Scars are cool, I have one like Tara on my neck. Hope everything turns out for you with the planning and your leak is not as bad as it seems. 😊
You both made the best decision on purchasing the land. Yes there will be a lot of obstacles but nothing beats location and view and the view is amazing. Your children are so happy and are so grounded to your home. Nothing better than that❤
Praying this next go-round brings positive news!! You deserve it. Oh! My, John!!! What a nasty slice out of your hand!! Absolutely “loved” the adventure to the stitching up! Maybe wearing protective gloves while working in the yard might help preserve your hands. So pleased you were tended to very quickly🙏 Tara, I can’t wait to see your teapee tent totally grown with the Sweet peas. Fantastic idea. Totally, can’t wait for next episode!!!!!.
John the model - phoarrr! Go from needing stitches in his hand to chugging down a nice cold ale and smiling his way into his new garb., what a guy Tara. You guys have been in front of mind these past few weeks as we travelled from Sydney to the Baltics and spent a day in Helsinki by ferry from Tallin, beautiful city and coming from a hot country, it was awesome breaking our way thru the ice getting into Helsinki. Hope your new chickens are making their way into your hearts and having Fifi’s prints in your outdoor kitchen is a wonderful reminder of happy days with him and his ladies 🙏
John did incredibly well friend, so proud of him! Nothing like a nice cold beer after getting some stitches haha sounds like you have been on a trip of a lifetime, amazing! ❤️❤️
Yikes! That cut on John's hand was deep! It is a good thing that you do have excellent medical care! Here where we are, there are ridiculously long waits in the emergency clinic or hospital. Anything can happen and change your lives within a moment! Two years ago, my husband went down to southern California from Northern California to visit his sister who had fallen off of a ladder and fractured her ribs and several vertibrate. While there, he suffered a stroke. He had paralysis on the whole left side of his body. Now, after two years, with lots of physical therapy and practice, he can walk using a one handed walker, but he still needs help getting up, getting dressed, shower and most of the time he is still in a wheelchair. I am doing everything on my own, caring for him, cooking, cleaning, gardening, dealing with finances (lots of medical bills), while trying to do my own art. Recently his sister was diagnosed with cancer, had surgery and is getting chemo. Life can change in an instant when you are making plans on your own! You are young, your family is healthy, you live in a beautiful environment and really, the buildings that you have now may not be enough for the future, but they are comfortable and beautiful now! You are not living in your van still with two toddlers or without a home at all! You are truly blessed❣️
So, sorry to ear that. Here in Portugal we have a great public health system, it's not perfect, but it doesn't takes you bankrupt if an accident happens. But that's not guaranteed as more a more liberal government takes the lead and wishes to make it a more US model like. For me our health system is gold, imagine if you didn't had to pay those health bills? Sure we pay a little bit more taxes, but gor me that's gold. Good luck!
That’s the hospital I was born in. Hoping to be back this summer to visit. Love watching your videos as it gives me a sense of wanting to move back to my home country of Portugal.
I just saw another RU-vid couple going to a Portuguese hospital and they had a similar amazing experience. Top marks Portugual Health Service. I'm so sorry to hear about the plumbing woes and the planning application rejection. You'll get there in the end I'm sure, just keep plugging away. On a plus note the bamboo/pea teepee is a triumph, well done Tara.
Loved the sound effects when John was doing his modeling😃. As a mother and wife you take on the pain of those you love who get hurt😢. When my kids were younger my husband and I divided up certain jobs. I usually dealt with them when they were sick and he would deal with them when they got hurt. He had taken a St. John’s Ambulance Course and I found that when my babes got hurt I would take on a lot of the pain. If I was alone I would have to handles things of course. Love the teepee idea! Have a great week! ❤️🙏🏼👋🏻🇨🇦🦫🫎🫶🏼
This would be the Irish way! Also sprinkling illegal new (smallish) builds/walls with buttermilk, after a few months they will be covered with moss, and voilà, can be declared as „always been there“ and now only being extended. Well, at least before the aerial surveys by satellites were done some 15-20 years ago.
Hi Newbys. Re. Construction of your extension. One thing you could explore is building on piles and raised from the floor, that reduces the area being built. Obviously, there will be a level design aspect to be considered and thought through, to achieve a sympathetic connection between the new and the old.
Get Well Soon. I am glad you are guys following the rules. I believe those rules are helping to keep those rural areas to be the way they are. I am praying your second proposal will be accepted.
Hello Cathy, we are so grateful he didn't cut any important things in his hand! So so thankful for that. The size of the new house is going to take up the same size as the main house and derelict house so it crosses each other out, hope that makes sense ❤️🙏🏼🏡🇵🇹
John, can you get a flow-restrictor put on the municipal water pipe where it enters the property, so that the pressure isn’t putting strain on the older plumb fittings? We have had to add an isolator tap at the entrance of our property to restrict the flow of water as when we moved in the water pressure blew taps open whilst we were on holiday! So much wasted water that week!
😢yikes! I’m so sorry that happened to your hand! Quite honestly, I always cringe when I see you working without gloves, eyewear, etc. and even worse when the boys are a bit too near 😰yea! I get a bit too nervous…. I get it! I’m Portuguese and I want things done but as I’m getting older, I really consider who’s around and how can I protect myself, at least some time… Be careful! Stay safe! Love your channel! Love your family & your beautiful home!😍. Enjoy!
I am with those rules of the agricultural department, if not in place in a few years the impact on the land will be irreversible, so hopefully you can find a middle ground where you get what you want in accordance to the rules of the land, wishing you good luck on the process of obtaining the permits
You are quite right friend and we agree with all the rules. This is why we want to build according to all the regulations and rules. Thanks for all the support 🙌🏼❤️😄🇵🇹
My heart goes out to you both cause I know how. Hard it is for you especially having two small boys to care about also.all my wishes and I keep on praying for you❤❤❤
We here in germany have a thing could " Wasseruhr" that counts the kubikmeters you use of water. Isn't there in Portugal something like this in your house? Because when you do not use water in the moment, but the counter runs..... you know there must be another source you loose water. Am I right?
Hallo, my family is from Germany 🇩🇪 ❤️ Mom BERLÍN 1921. DAD, 1922, BRAUNLAUGE, HARTZ MOUNTAINS. I visited twice I love Germany. ICH LIEBE DICH. MICHIGAN USA
Such a good video in so many ways. Really appreciate the honesty. It is so nice to watch you two working together to solve issues and overcome the challenges. Prayers and ❤!
John, I saw Crusoe in your expression after stitches. Sorry you got wounded; but you clean up nicely. Very dapper in your fancy new duds. Tara, as always, I love your narration. Nice tee-pea ;) And the restoration of the land over the past two years is quite dramatic. Well done. You guys hang in there; you'll get all this permitting worked out.
Oh my goodness 😂 I smiled and laughed so hard at both of you heading to the hospital. I thought at the beginning oh she’s being a bit harsh 😅 but it was so funny at the same time and your husband took it like a champ. Married here for 30 plus years and one of the secrets, at least for us, is having a sense of humor. Best of luck for your family here in this little crazy corner of the world
The whole process you have been through is so interesting. I have no doubt it will all get figured out. John was very brave - I remember an accident I had as a child. Told my mom - I don’t need stitches - fainted twice. Got stitches despite what I said!
Oh my Tara 😱! You handled that well driving John to the hospital without fainting! Good thing you don’t have Vasovagal syncope which I do and got extremely woozy! I would have been on the floor past out! Thank God for fast forward! So very Grateful John’s Tendons weren’t damaged and he only needed 6 stitches.
Ouch John 😫Definitely water pressure gushing out more water than is necessary. You can attach a water valve next to the meter, ask plumber to fix one for you. Re knocking down 'not garage' you can later buy a shipping container as a storage space like Mr&Mrs Adventure.
What a roller coaster episode! I sometimes held my breath and thought " Oh no !" I´m so glad that John´s injury wasn´t more bad! And Tara, you did well! You was calm and able to drive him to the hospital, this giggles were helplessness which is totally understandable for me! The water leak looks bad but I´m sure you will find it and the good thing is... better now then later , if you already moved in! And I´m praying for your soon approval to the new changes! i can´t wait for the next episode! Stay well and keep your heads high up!
Fingers crossed you get your permits and can begin your build. While this crazy process can be frustrating and challenging at times all the crazy regulations are there for a reason! Your courtyard has to remain! Hoping your plumbing issues are resolved! A plumbing leak is always expensive! Darn it! Praying you get your permits soon! By the way, my late husband’s band hated plumbing! Luckily we had a close friend who was a plumber! Trust me he was a God send! Happy Easter to the Newbys!
Bom dia, ainda bem que correu tudo pelo melhor...Vocês tiveram foi muita sorte, normalmente, nos hospitais Portugueses, também se esperam horas para sermos atendidos! Que o Jonh fique bem rapidamente❤
Boy when it rains it pours.. Try and keep ur heads up.. Thanks so much educating us on all considerations purchasing a home in Portugal.. It’s all a learning curve.. Sending love and light ur way.. Stay positive!!!
Oh dear, sorry about your plumbing troubles and johns cut hand, but on the up side cant wait to see your sweet pea teepee in flower, something to look forward too, stay positive, all will be fine.🙏❤️😌
I have only just found your Channel and I hope to follow you. I love LEAW and was pleased to see they gave you an olive tree. You are a charming couple. I hope the Planning Application goes through eventually and I am sorry about your chickens.
I trained as a nurse many years ago and could not continue, beyond qualifying. I am a bit of a 'sook' really! Gave me the heeby Jeebies to see John's cut!!!! Keep some Butterfly strips (micropore plasters ) on hand for minor cuts.
Don't worry everyone in every country gets turned down the first time you apply for a permit for one thing or another. Your compromise should work out fine. Onward and forward. It will be lovely when it is done. Well done turning the water off.
Wishing you the best so you get approved for your building. I would definitely not get rid of your courtyard. It's so beautiful! We had a pipe leak in our yard twice. The first one cost us over $500 and the second one over $300. It's painful that anyone has to even pay for water! My husband is not allowed to carve pumpkins for Halloween due to the fact he has cut himself pretty good several times. He had an accident at work where he almost cut off his pinkie fingertip. He had to have the bone pinned and many stitches and was out of work for 4 months. Glad you made it through it, John! Hugs to you all!
Hi John, Tara, Crusoe and Sawyer what a week for the Newbys. It seems everything is happening at once. Hoping your new planning application is approved, the two of you always find a way to get around things. Atleast the health care system appears to be good in Portugal. If you had been in Australia you would of had to wait for hours as well.
Good afternoon or good evening to you in Portugal, dear Newby family, so much happening this past week, glad John's injury is not that bad, BTW look spiffy in that outfit, very handsome John, you both are an handsome couple. About the tippi glad the bamboos are of use and also happy to see your new flock roaming around. Yes, buying new house and property, lots to think about, the amenities and most important the plumbing, the roof etc... Removing the Not Garage is key, love your cobblestones path, it is what keeps the landscaping of your home entrance. All in all, your planning the right way and hope the plumbing in the Stone House is resolved. Happy Palm Sunday, we worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth, all the goodness we have is from Him. You are in my prayers. God bless you all. 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🥰💖🌺🦋👱👶🌅🌄🏡🇵🇹
Wow what a week-it's like the Chaos theory-eveything's going very smoothly and then BAM. Glad to hear John's hand will heal nicely, and that you have a kind of solution by kicking down the not garage, I'm sorry your application got turned down.
Ouch, that looked very sore John. Tara you did brilliant and so did the hospital. Keep it clean and covered when working. You looked very smart by the way and so nice that you both went out for lunch. Lovely seeing the chickens running around. You have done such a wonderful job on the land and should be so proud. The teepee is fabulous, the boys will love it. So sorry to hear that the planning permission has been rejected. Keeping everything crossed that a) you get the land you want and b) slight adjustments can be made to get your plans through. Keep strong and keep positive. You will get there ❤xx
Thanks Judy, John did very well. I am so proud of them! We are so excited to see how the teepee turns out. Thanks friend, we will stay positive and hopefully share some good news with you soon ❤️🙏🏼😃🏡🇵🇹
We feel for you guys. There is so much going on at the moment fir you,we are keeping our fingers crossed for you guys. Hopefully, it will work out fine for you. Things go wrong sometimes, Your blogs keep me going. I have been in hospital over Christmas and the new year from a fracture back, and I just love watching video well. I have been laid up at home .❤Eileen.
Oh John and Tara you have come such a long way. Stay on the straight and narrow. Pitty you didn’t know all the little stuff that is huge now. We all learn en route. That is what makes our journeys interesting and worthwhile. Hang in there. This too shall pass. Hugs and prayers. Love you more and more. John please stay safe with that hand of yours. Scars is not always sexy 😂😂😂 Looking forward to the pea tp producing for you in abundance ❤️🕊❤️💪🏻💪🏻
It has been a huge learning curve for us all Ziska but we don't regret any single bit of it. Thanks for the support, we are so thankful that the cut wasn't worse ❤️❤️
I’m sure that it will all come right in the end. I certainly sympathize with your frustrations because we have had many set backs on our journey here in Malaga ,Spain. It’s been 35 years and we mostly have it all sorted out now 😅😅😊
We had a similar challenge with water pressure in our abandoned house in Spain. House was set up for 3 bar and mains was 7. Pipes started popping. We ended up adding a pressure regulator, no more problems.
Garlic would be perfect to protect your Peach Tree . "Fruit tree companion plants Fruit trees can benefit from being planted near garlic as pests, including caterpillars, aphids, and borers, are repelled by the garlic smell. Garlic can also help protect apple trees from scab and peach trees from developing peach leaf curl". Hope that helps.
