In the US you always plead not guilty unless you make some kind of deal with the prosecutor so not guilty is normal.

As a small town cop I can say it can be amusing at times. My chief and I went to talk to a dude we know isn't working but has court fees he needs to pay about having the city send him some work like mowing/trash cleanup to get income to pay his fees so he doesn't get a warrant. Go back a week to tell him he needs to come do some work and he runs from us. My captain shrugs and goes ok well just add misdemeanor eluding and pick him up at the corner store when he comes in in the morning.

Some people will say to just turn off their body cameras. In our PD if you turn off your body cam, it’s grounds for termination. At the end of every shift, the body cameras are turned in and automatically downloaded. The video is controlled by civilians, and only accessible by law-enforcement and other parties for investigation purposes.

Everyone pleads not guilty at the beginning. This just means that they want a fair trial instead of being guilty and being sent straight to prison. Further down the line you plead again guilty or not. If you plead guilty at the beginning, you waive your right to a fair investigation and trial/settlement.

A lot of places will give cops free food to create good relations, usually in hopes that they'll keep a closer eye on their store and maintain more of a presence in the area to deter crime.

almost all local sit-down restaurants give a 50% discount on meals, and the taxpayers pick up the balance

I know here in Germany cops in Uniform are allowed to ride any train for free, because their presence increases safety, but afaik they are not allowed to accept any gifts or freebies, as it would amount to bribery. My mom lost her purse during christmas shopping and was called by the police because it was found and turned in. I think it was like the 23rd or even 24th of December, so probably all of the Officers would have preferred to be at home. Being super happy to get all her things back and for their service when most people were at home, my mom went to the police station with a massive tray of home made cookies for the officers... They were not even sure if it was ok to accept those and called a supervisor before they eventually did 😀

In certain areas of the US we have what are called “resident state troopers”, rather than an actual town police department. They live in the town they patrol and handle every kind of situation the police would get involved in. There are other state troopers that are assigned to that specific town and the close surrounding ones, but they do not live in the town.

Smoking, chewing gum, eating, any thing like that involving your mouth has the potential of lowering your alcohol percentage in a breathalyzer test. That's why they dont allow people anything like that 😊

Depends on state code but simply running is an interference/obstruction charge in most. Fleeing/eluding is usually in reference to an actual vehicle chase. In Iowa It's only a felony if it's enhanceable or the subject exceeds 25 mph over the speed limit while eluding.

Whoever made that video left out alot of details about the last clip where the female cop was being an asshole to the owner of the car the cop hit and im pretty sure they show her give her boss a kiss at the end

Buck took a plea deal most likely. "A good lawyer knows the law, a GREAT lawyer...knows the judge." Firefighters and cops look out for each other. Drunk firefighter drunk drove into a postal office near me, never even made the news. I only heard about it because I knew his friends.

I’m glad most cops wear body cams now, so they can’t cover up when their fellow cops are breaking the law, like in the case of Buck. Too often, that kind of drunk driving would have been totally swept under the rug, even if someone else got seriously hurt.
