They are correctional officers. They don't have police powers outside the prison system. Local jails will normally be manned by the county Sheriffs officers, so those are Sheriffs inside and outside.

Prisoners get the news papers and some who are in good graces get info on new inmates. Those guilty of rape and especially sexual abuse of children will be found out and their punishment is not just the sentencing.

Sentences differ from state to state. In addition, there may be plea agreement made with defendant in order to close the case faster and to save the victims the horror of detailing what happen in open court. Yes, the 12 years in prison was light, but 12 years in prison as an ex cop and a sex offender is going to be a living hell even in protective custody because all prisoners hate cops and the really hate sex offenders with crimes against children. Normally, there is an open kill on sight order by the inmates. A prisoner is under the obligation to attack all sex offenders. If a prisoner refuses to do so, he will be killed as well. I believe the cop got only 12 years because California has weak sex crimes laws. Although, some say that is now changing.

You know what's crazy is they have male prison guards at female prisons..and vise-versa. Those prisoners flirt with the guards non-stop and you can guess where that can lead. Even that one women who drowned her kids in a lake ended up sleeping with a guard. I won't say her name. Guess what happened to him, he lost his career, he got registered as a sex offender, and I'm pretty sure he got divorced. He basically can't even get a job. Every day he had to deal with these women flirting with him around the showers etc.. I'm just saying that certain levels of scum should be put down and prisons should be ran smarter.

Many to most cops that go to prison are usually put into protective custody and not in the general population.

So, I'm nerding out here and giving a running commentary as I watch because I'm very familiar with body language in this context and the third cop knows something is up immediately (he knows he's guilty) by his initial language and by folding his arms over his chest immediately. This is a red flag. He's trying to hide something. By crossing his arms, he's putting up a physical wall against the interrogator and being defensive. He's trying to protect himself unconsciously because he senses that he's caught. The detective who appears to be well trained almost assuredly has noticed. Good detectives always do. Man, she's good. When she presented photo evidence and non-nonchalantly mentioned that she had " like 15 million things here" while he was looking at it was brilliant. She's good. And per the video, you can see his uncontrollable physical response to the photo. He knows that he's done and is starting to freak out. In any case, the female detective was fantastic and knew what she was doing. Good stuff.

@@1980bcman⁠⁠ no, law enforcement and legal officials should get a stricter penalty because they’re put in a position of trust and they violated that trust. They’re supposed to be better and held to a higher standard than the average citizen, so they deserve a worse punishment when they prove to be worse than the average citizen. A woman falsely accusing a man is still just an average citizen being terrible lol no different than any other average citizen committing a crime 🤦‍♂️ it seems like you’re just emotional about that topic because I don’t see any logical connection lmao

12 years actually is severe compared to what women get that commit the same crime. Women teachers sleep with kids that are 10-16 and get probation or a couple months on jail.

I've commented on your guys videos before and you always do interesting topics and great comedy. The larger departments in the states have detectives that go over cold cases. Obviously there's no statute of limitations on something like that so you never know who could be looking at something from way back. States have their own state police and criminal divisions and they do some of that also through the states crime lab.

This is good police interrogation. As someone who was trained in these techniques, the body doesn't lie. Unless, you're a sociopath/psychopath or a really good professional actor, your body, facial expressions, breathing will give you up every time. It's the fight or flight hind-brain response when you are cornered and deep, deep down you know that it is over. Her response is classic.

Woman kills a woman= 27 years Man assaults 13 women and gets 263 years. Make that make sense?? What the guy did was horrible and disgusting. But those 13 victims are still alive. The wlmen who was "killed" by that lady will never have a life. She is gone forever. She cant fix her problem with therapy and what not.

Only 8% of persons in federal or state custody are serving in private prisons. It varies by state but that's the total figure. Look it up.

Typically, at least in Texas, the jails will be run by sheriff’s deputies, while prisons will be run by Department of Corrections officers aka COs.

I've watched a lot of true crime. This one guy rapes and killed someone got a 15 year sentence at 18 years old. Got after 2 years. Then his wife while met in prison ended up going missing, under a plea agreement to show where he put her body, a small sentence of moving a corpse, obstructing justice et. Was sent back to jail with the new time running concurrent with his old crime. Still got his good behavior. So was put by 25.. Not on parole or probation. Kidnapped, raped high school runaway that was 17. Was given 48 years. Served 3.. Got out because he had became a minister, and a church vouched for him and was giving him a job with them upon release. Raped and killed twice young girls he was teaching at youth group retreat., hung himself in the jail cell before he could be tried for the newest crimes I'll never ever be pro death penalty. Sorry, just not me. But the fact he was given so many opportunities, while many others don't get 1, just doesn't make sense to me at all. Multiple murders.. 48 years out in 3?? Like wtf

No one that commits murder is thinking of turning themselves in lol. She got 27 years and it was 23 years when she got found out. She would've had 4 more years to go. Besides, she almost got away with it. If she did leave the country she would be free.

Even more for serial killers who left a trail to eventually be found. It took 3 seconds of googling. That's all the effort it took. Much less than you typing out that comment. Also, retrial and parole are quite common. You literally just heard them say it's rare for people to serve a full sentence. This is true.

I'm talking about the avg person that commits murder - not some narcissist serial killer that wants to be caught. Also, it's common for people not to serve a full sentence if parole is on the table. It’s sad how sexually crimes against children or sexually assaults in general are not taken seriously in most times, even when they get caught, they don’t do much punishment. I used to have a high school teacher. He was a great teacher and been working for 24 years as teacher until he got caught having a relationship with his under age student. He got fired and went to trial but I don’t think he got punished much, only registered as a sex offender and stay away with underage , he stay free!

Alot of police departments have assigned a specific department/detectives to go through cold cases.....most times because of the advancements in DNA/genealogy or if there is a new sheriff/sergeant who wants to start a cold case department......thank goodness because I have heard of many cases being solved that are 20, 30, 40 or even 50 years old....it gives the family a sense of closure knowing who committed the crime even though it doesn't bring back their loved ones...

I don't know about other states, but in California, the jails are guarded by the Sheriff department. And deputies have to start in the jail system before being promoted to patrol officers.

I don’t know how he only got 12 years with those charges, usually the U.S court system hits real hard when it comes to the abuse of children. He must of got an extremely favorable plea deal, or the judge was extremely lenient. Either way shame on the court system for not giving him a tougher sentence. But I guarantee if they put him in general population in prison he wouldn’t last a week.

I believe in the federal system you can only have up to 15% of your time reduced for good behavior if I recall correctly, but state charges may vary.

what's really sad is that the last case with Daniel is that he was actually innocent if people look deeper into it. From weak DNA evidence TO the contradictions from the "victims" telling of events TO shady officers in that department who matched most of the descriptions for the crimes TO public and political pressure from the govt during the BLM movement, and much more shows he was wrongly convicted. There are some great youtube videos that explain this stuff in detail.

There are not "countless" examples. Most police, by far, are good people doing a good job and trying to go home at the end of every shift. The bad ones are rare, but they give everyone else a really bad name.
