@@voidistrash5040 name a bigger name than rodman in 99? He was a superstar despite his stats. After jordan leaves in 98. Rodman was the biggest name in the league at that moment. He was everywhere
@@voidistrash5040the non fan that only values scoring as an indicator of greatness. Please get rid of these guys from the nba. Y’all clearly dislike the game…go enjoy football or tennis
@@Michael-mt6ybfr you don’t need to average 25+ to be a superstar a good example In my opinion is like a Scottie pippin doesn’t average 20 but makes up for it on defense and being a point foward that’s what made him a superstar
@@YonkoBlackbeard Shaq can do whatever he wants when it comes to basketball and don’t you or ur friends ever forget it. He went to 6 nba finals with 3 different teams, 4 rings, 3 straight FMVPs which has only been done by MJ. He is 8th all time in scoring, 8th in blocks and 14in rebounds. Shaq is 5th all time in playoff scoring, 4th in rebounds and 4th in blocks. Show a little respect!
@@STANKORachevyou funny rt? Shaq fives rings with one three peat is the most dominate player in history, dennis had 5 rings 2 back to back with the pistons and one 3 peat with the bulls, sure buddy.
But Rodman work ethic was insane... Try 2 read his book, he didn't sleep because he couldn't train, party and sleep, so he just didn't sleep and still only one who could stop shaq
Dennis would have kicked his ass. Dennis is from the south/hood, Kobe didn't grow up like that. Kobe couldn't talk to Shaq and Kobe any kind of way. He could those young guys that way.
He's currently residing in Houston. He shops at the grocery store I work at. Always very approachable and humble. And He does love his cigars lol. Had to tell him to put it out once lol
Rodman was one of the very few top Gs. It takes a special kinda person to just do wtf you want when you want and still boss everything without breaking a mental sweat.
Here reminds me of those people that I work with that just do whatever they want and they get away with it LOL but then let you mess up and you get fired LOL
He straight up told Michael Jordan AND Phil Jackson he needed to go to Las Vegas in the middle of the 1998 nba finals to “blow off some steam” and they didn’t tell him no. That’s how much they needed and trusted him
@CHI-JORDAN-CHI yes, rodman is a very special gift to nba team. A rebound can turn a game, imagine a man snatching them 8 times a game. Rodman was never known for his offense, he was all defense. Till this day he is one strange anomaly because to be in the NBA with a very average offense but to have the defense he had is rare. He didn't need offense his defense made him very sought out.
Hands down one of the best rebound artists in the NBA. The way he would get into his opponents head also is what made him great. Rodman was the GOAT of playing mind games on the court 😂@@round105
Rodman was truly an amazing ball player to watch. You would root against him and he pulled out 20 boards and fell out your center. The dude had insane defensive abilities. Definitely one of the best defenders ever. Oh yeah and he could rebound like no other. It was fun watching him. I miss that kind of basketball.
Had he been used differently he’d have been a scorer too. I’ve seen him in games 6 for 6 and Jordan does everything he can while triple teamed to never pass to the wide open Rodman. And wide open he was, often. Not from not being guarded but because of hustle.
@@dexterlecter7289quite easy to out hustle your defender when you have Jordan and Pippen taking the attention of all the best defenders. Rodman was awesome though, and a unicorn.
@@2genders-tk2ue He wasn't pretty boy but was built like a God, tall ,cool tattoos and looked Like a superstar even if you didn't knew je was famous. And top od that je was elite NBA player. I'm not surprised he was drownig in pussies back in the day.
he played his college at southeastern oklahoma near why Im at on lake texoma. People around here still have stories about how wild he was even in college
Never hear the story of how Rodman became the bad boy the he became! Rodman was green when he started playing with the pistons, a really nice guy! The story I heard is he became the way he is after this affair or some stuff with his wife or girlfriend with one of his teammates! It is after that he developed a dont give a fuck attitude! Anyone know the true story, please tell!
He was arguably just as big of a star as Jordan went they played together. This man went to Vegas for a few days during the regular season just to come back refreshed for the playoff push. Rodman was built different from anyone
@@rickycamilo4488 go watch the last dance doc. Multiple people have said Rodman was a huge star on the Bulls and would get fan fare like Mike. Don’t gotta be emotional about something that has nothing to do with you other than you worshiping someone who’s a human lmao
@@michaelbarnes2126 I think it's different because they were popular for different reasons/different ways. What I think people forget about (not you, just in general) is that Rodman was more controversial for that time - He had the books and was a MASTER at publicity. And remember when he did WCW stuff too? Heck he did a tag-team match against Karl Malone. lol. Everyone knew Mike. Everyone wanted to play like Mike. But everyone was entertained by Dennis and curious about Dennis 'wild antics'. The bike, the women, everything. For the team, the Bulls, etc. - without question Jordan was the bigger icon & personality & Dennis respected that. Yet Dennis and everything he was added so much intrigue and nuance to the dynamic of that team. It was an amazing time! Sorry to ramble - one more memory... Here's a tidbit from the early 90's. Everyone knows Dennis went to San Antonio and when Demolition Man came out he copied that style then got the tattoos, etc. But it didn't work at San Antonio because in the end, Robinson got increasingly more conservative while Rodman became more... Rodman. lol. But ultimately, and it was a difference with Jordan and a Robinson, Jordan & Chicago were more so about winning and Rodman respected Jordan & Jackson & Pippen. But DID YOU KNOW... the plot thickened in 96, well after Jordan un-retired and Robinson said this: "I don't understand what Mike's doing. Why'd he come back? He has a family, what's he trying to prove? Seems to me he's chasing his own coattails." Or something like that. Robinson said that on the eve of the Bulls winning 72 games that season and steamrolling everyone to the first title of the second 3 peat. ;). And it happened... when Rodman joined the team.
You know how it goes. These days all it takes is an allegation. like from some chick trying to come up off him then its all hes abusive or something vague and unprovable but then hes out or everyone turns against him immediately.
Kicked out, no. He might have gotten flagrants more & fines. He'd easily instigate guys like Durant. But Rodman was an INCREDIBLE wing defender and his footwork was amazing.
As a fan at the time of the NBA not only would Dennis rodman dominate rebounds but on any ball going outta bounse he would lay out horizontal to the floor, capture the ball in air, and correctly pass the ball to a teammate. HE DID THIS REPEATEDLY!!!!
He counted basketball rotations in midair to anticipate rebounds. Crazy off the court, very (bi)sexual and had a minimal role with daughter Trinity Rodman (women's soccer), but definitely someone to take in small doses unless you're an opposing coach to gameplan for 😂.
Oh, i never thought about it. For me after a basketball practice it is too hard to get up from my bed, but this guy goes clubbing etc. Of course i hustle a lot during a practice, but i am only 17
Dennis wasn't in the offensive rotations so he didn't need to be in the meetings. Stay out of the way, grab rebs and guard the #1 scorer( 3-5) on the other team. That was his role and he was a pro on the court.
JCVD made Rodman an even bigger man by putting him in the movie Double Team. Those sunglasses he had, so badass. Them blue Oakley sub zero were so fire.
When you got that kinda fame and money of course the "baddest women" are going to come out and find you. Those baddies don't smell that hard work stank, they only smell that green.
And explain to me how hard it is for any man with money and is a public figure to get woman that have been planted there in this building to be on his jock?
All that money and fame, especially like a player like Dennis, Believe me... For what I have heard, those women do crazy, nasty things for just any NBA player
@@Swankman33 He almost had the same kind of appeal with women as Prince did. No matter how much make up he wore, heels, wigs, dresses, whatever, he still was gonna pull some of the baddest women on the planet.
I love seeing how people respect the player Rodman was. He didn't need to practice anymore. He perfected the rebound way early on and never lost it. Mad respect for him
I think that Rodman which was my favorite forward of all to watch, it was simply amazing back then, anyway he was just being himself unapologetically! I’ve learned that, everyone is unique no matter what I think of them, every adult was a child and when they were a child, that was the raw version of themselves, when we were being unapologetically ourselves! So all this fanfare adults put on certain people, I get it but they’re just staying in tune with being who they’re supposed to be without over conformity to society status quo. Respect everyone and be yourself!
Wasn't they undfeated when Rodman was playing? Rodman could've had more rings than Jordan had he stayed with the Lakers. They literally won the Championship the very next season
Dennis Rodman is the way I know how to play basketball. It doesn't matter about the points. As long as you can play good, defend and rebound your good 😂
