When I was a kid in 1997 my father saved up to bring me to the bulls game right behind the bulls bench. During a timeout my father leaned over and asked jordan and scottie to sign my ticket for me. They both ignored him as security walked over to back him off, then and there Dennis told security to hold up, looked back at me, took the ticket from my father and signed it. He handed it back to me with a "here you go little man". Kindness goes a long way, i've never forgotten that. He was an inspirational player, and the greatest rebounding player i've ever seen. Thanks for the memories Dennis, I wish you well in retirement.

What an arc. Abused, abandoned and neglected as a child I can't imagine the esteem issues and problems with self worth that Rodman must still endure. I think that's why he cries during these speeches. In some way he doesn't feel worthy of the honor. But he did earn it. As it said in one NBA brochure, "Rodman is one of the few players that can influence the outcome of a basketball game without taking a single shot."

+Corey Cavalier Usually there is 2 sides to every coin, but the bulls situation was truly a 3 headed coin/monster during this era (Jordan, Pippen, Rodman). Michael was always the apparent cool headed of the group, but was deep down the most aggressive. Scotty was the middle man through and through, very calm, great player, seemed to be OK being the middle man, but was always there for the team when need be. Dennis was the Bad Boy of the team, always being the troubled child, and a tempered soul off the court, but a VERY key part in the 2nd 3-peat for the bulls. The 3 speeches of Jordan, Pippen and Rodman seem to sum up their true personality more than any game they played, at least from the fan's point of view. Rodman's efforts on the court truly show how much he wanted to be a part of something great. and its truly great that the efforts put forth by him lead to the speech for the HOF, as well as him being set in stone as one of, if not the greatest rebounders and defensive players to ever play the game.

Dennis Rodman is an honest man. He makes no excuses for his behavior. He is a stand up guy. A lot of humility. He told it like it is. He played hard. I enjoyed watching him play. He overcame a lot of hurdles in his life. His father left the family. He was bullied. He was homeless. He was poor. He persevered. We all have our shortcomings. Dennis Rodman is not afraid to admit to his shortcomings. Guy is not a hypocrite. We (Me first) can learn from this speech and his experiences. He meant every word he said.

This had me in tears😢 You never know what someone is going through or what they have gone through. And you NEVER hear a celebrity talk about these kinds of things and be so raw and emotional and take accountability for their own actions. He laid it all out there for everyone to see and acknowledged his wrong doing and hopes he can be better. This is one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard. If he see this, I want him to know how much I appreciated hearing it. Thank you Dennis.

How hard it was for him to conjure the words to describe how much he loved and owed his life to basketball witch boiled down to one profund statement. Papawowmac I guess "best" is a little more subjective than mere stats. I consider him the best rebounder because I think it's way more impressive for a guy his size to average nearly 19 rebounds a game for two years, and average 15 for a career in the modern era than for Wilt to tower above everyone and get 20 rebounds. I get it, statistically Wilt is better, but in everyday usage of the word "greatest", we don't mean just stats. After all, Jordan's considered the greatest of all time by many, but Wilt surpasses him statistically too.

"I wish I was a better father" Maaaan, that hit me hard. You can say whatever you want about The Worm, but he IS the single most honest person you've seen in this game. Period.

I love Dennis Rodman. This speech was like his game, an absolute mess, but a mess that touched everyone watching. Edit: I'd like to explain that this is not something bad I'm saying about Dennis. The contrary. He was flowing. He didn't mind how it looked as long as the job was done. It is sometimes hard to understand if you get caught in the niceties, and frankly when I was 12 I didn't understand much of what he was doing. But looking at it now, absolute physical and mental beast! Thanks for all the comments!

What you mean mess?
@ArthurKiyanovski
@ArthurKiyanovski 3 года назад
@@patrickdiew2271 well, I actually mean it in a good way. Other players often have this eloquent speech they go through, with structure and political correctness and all that. BUT they are fucking boring as hell, even though they were great players. But this speech by Rodman, it has a lot of raw stuff, unpolished, without a "proper" structure, would have gotten a C in "public speaking" exam. But it is raw, and real and awesome. Way better than most.

@@patrickdiew2271 And in case you meant what do I mean mess when I talk about his game. Well that mess was the circus he played with the other team's mind to get them lose it, and then he bit their head off when they were off balance. That is how I saw his game at least.

This is why you should never make fun of someone or judge someone because of how they look, how they dress, how they act.... U never know what they have been through that caused them to be a certain way.

Dennis Rodman is naturally very shy and introverted. The whole image and persona he became was because he wanted to create a new Rodman that would not care about anything and help him deal with life

I loved watching Dennis Rodman play basketball, he was a different cat but man could he rebound. He was a supreme athletic being, he ran like a gazelle, so graceful and fluid. He was mesmerising and he was great. The ultimate team man, who gave everything and left it all out on the floor. I love this speech for it's honesty, it's individuality and it's emotion. How many men would put their hearts out there like that for all the world to see ? Props Dennis, you were a legend on the court and you were a winner...

You know what, I have been trying to catch any interview I can with him on You Tube, and I notice he has said that so much, if not in every interview he has done. And I truly believe him. He doesn't let money change him. And he didn't base his career off of money.
